Its data is freely available through download and web services and is used widely in both public and private applications. Officials are working to develop the LRD into interconnected base registries that can serve as foundational geospatial references.

Besides these models, some experiments from the project of Mobile Millennium which also helps to explain how these models apply in Real-Time Traffic Information would be introduced. Finally, some specified applications which are widely used in the world are also mentioned as the newest approaches in Real-Time Traffic Information.

Some standard models such as Regression Model, Bayesian Model and Probabilistic Graphical Model are applied to figure out many indicators in traffic system (the Level of Service, road network, congestion, etc.) and run processes of predictions, then, send the solutions to drivers or other relevant. Besides these models, some experiments from the project of Mobile Millennium which also helps to explain how these models apply in Real-Time Traffic Information would be introduced. Finally, some specified applications which are widely used in the world are also mentioned as the newest approaches in Real-Time Traffic Information.
Smart city challenge lessons learned
Back in 2015, the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT), under the leadership of Secretary Anthony Foxx, has
leveraged nearly $350 million in public and private funds for smart city and advanced transportation technologies. Building on
Beyond Traffic 2045, the Smart City Challenge provided a spark for cities looking to revolutionize their transportation systems
to help improve people’s lives. Through the Smart City Challenge, the Department committed up to $40 million to one winning
city. In response, cities leveraged an additional $500 million in private and public funding to help make their Smart City visions
real. And, in October 2016, Secretary Foxx announced an additional $65 million in grants to support community-driven
advanced technology transportation projects in cities across America, including 4 of the finalists in the Smart City Challenge.
By challenging American cities to use emerging transportation technologies to address their most pressing problems, the
Smart City Challenge aimed to spread innovation through a mixture of competition, collaboration, and experimentation.
But the Smart City Challenge was about more than just technology. We called on mayors to define their most pressing
transportation problems and envision bold new solutions that could change the face of transportation in our cities by meeting
the needs of residents of all ages and abilities; and bridging the digital divide so that everyone, not just the tech-savvy, can be
connected to everything their city has to offer.
Analysis Of Mobility Patterns For Urban Taxi Cabs
This summary analyzes mobility patterns from taxi cab GPS data collected in San Francisco:
1) Over 10 million GPS records from 536 taxis were collected over one month and analyzed to study characteristics like speed, location over time, hotspots, and connectivity.
2) A single taxi's day-long GPS data is examined in more detail, showing its speed varied in different areas of the city as expected from traffic conditions.
3) The data will help wireless researchers, cities, and taxis optimize operations by understanding mobility patterns and demand, helping allocate resources efficiently.

The Connected Bus - Project Plan

Urbica is a design firm based in Moscow that focuses on human experience design in cities. They conduct user experience research, information design, spatial data analysis, and urban planning. Their approach involves prototyping and getting user feedback. Some of their projects include designing maps for MAPS.ME, analyzing bike rental data for the Moscow Department of Transport, studying New York City's bike share rebalancing system, and researching pedestrian conditions in Moscow.
Using Big data Analytics for Improved Public Transport
Pulse Lab Jakarta collaborated with Jakarta Smart City on a project to enhance transport planning and operational decision-making through real-time data analytics. Using data from TransJakarta – the city’s rapid bus transit system – buses and passenger stations, the project mapped origin-destination trends and identified bottleneck locations, information which can be used to identify whether new routes are needed. The project also explored the possibility of using real-time data to determine passenger-waiting times in order to enhance the efficiency of the bus dispatching system.

The Edinburgh and its surrounding area are well served by an efficient bus network. The City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) have worked with
the locally owned bus company (Lothian Buses) and a system supplier (INEO Systrans) to deliver real-time information to meet passengers’ needs, initially through bus-stop displays and then a website. This case study described how it was later extended to smartphone users through a cooperative and flexible approach with two individuals who had developed Apps for iPhone and Android phones.
This service is currently being upgraded in the light of experience over the first three years’ operation to include a better user interface, with more consideration for accessibility issues, better capacity and a more efficient and controlled route for accessing the data through smar tphones.
This is one of two case studies showing the different approaches taken by the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) in developing content and services aimed at users of smartphones and other mobile devices. The second case study describes the approach taken by the Library and Information Services department of the City of Edinburgh Council to work with commercial App developers to reach the users of mobile devices as part of a wide-ranging social media and digital communication strategy.

WHITE PAPER: Data Harmonization & Interoperability in OpenTransportNet
OpenTransportNet (OTN) distributes a series of White Papers to showcase its innovative approach in the
technical implementation of the OTN Hubs, and to communicate key outcomes in terms of service creation
and harmonisation of transport related data.
The White Papers are intended to provide insights and share lessons learned to others interested in using
the OTN approach for aggregating, harmonizing and visualising transport data. The audience for these
White Papers are mainly city and regional authorities that maintain and aggregate diverse data sources and
stimulate innovation development in transport, and the wider community of developers and experts in the
field of (geo) data as an opportunity to network and exchange knowledge.
This first White Paper, in a series of three, focuses on the data harmonisation process of the OTN project,
and is structured along the following use cases: (1) metadata harmonization through the CKAN and Micka
metadata management tools, and the upcoming GeoDCAT-AP metadata profile, (2), the DataTank data
management system and (3) the harmonized data model for road network data.
The paper starts with the main concepts of data interoperability and harmonization. Next, the use cases
are described that were implemented in the OTN project until January 2016 with the collaboration of the
four pilot cities (Antwerp, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Birmingham and the Liberec Region) and with the
consultation of the standard bodies Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the World Wide Web
Consortium (W3C), and the in-house research centre of the European Commission, the Joint Research
Centre (JRC). The White Paper ends with harmonization guidelines for cities and regions interested in using
the OTN approach, and next steps of the OTN project in harmonization.
The second White Paper will describe further transport-related use cases including the Smart Points of
Interest in RDF and the Open Land Use Map. The second paper will also elaborate on the licensing aspects
of the project. The last White Paper will provide testimonials of pilot cities and regions and their key
outcomes, including innovative ways of big data visualizations and the involvement of local communities in
the co-creation of services.

The equitable distribution of bike paths ensuring safe cycling are inconsistently planned and evaluated. For residents to fully utilize bikes, it is essential that bike networks equitably serve all urban populations. In the absence of impartial evaluation, the construction of biking infrastructure may continue to perpetuate cycles of disadvantage. By measuring the spatial equity of six urban biking networks using GIS (San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison, Boulder and College Station) and interviewing transportation planners, we demonstrate that equity can play a role in planning. We provide spatial and qualitative analyses revealing varying relationships between urban transport planning and the relative equity of bike networks in major cities.

On May 25, Governor Hickenlooper signed Senate Bill 18-167 into law. This bill included the creation of the Underground Damage Prevention Safety Commission, effective August 8, 2018. The ratification of this law has started transitioning tier two members of the Utility Notification Center of Colorado, or Colorado 811, into tier one members. Safety and accuracy are some of the most challenging issues damage prevention professionals face. While the law will improve communication between all parties involved once it’s implemented, damage prevention work will drastically change over the next two years of transition. 2018 GIS in Recreation: The Making of a Trail
As a part of a joint effort between the Town of Silverthorne and the Summit Sky Ranch development, Allpoints GIS and Contour Logic were contracted to provide trail planning services on private and National Forest lands. Several variables presented challenges that required detailed planning work. Lidar data analysis, 3D web scenes, survey data, high resolution web maps, and ArcGIS Collector in the field were all employed in a joint desktop and field GIS effort to create trail plans. I will detail our GIS methods and products from this project from start to finish.

2018 GIS in Development: Partnerships Lead to Additional Recreational Content...
In 2010, the USGS National Geospatial Program (NGP) began producing the new US Topo map series. The first maps were relatively simple, but quality and content have continually improved. Recreational features, especially trails, are among the most often requested features, but have been difficult to add due to lack of national datasets. Some trails in National Forests were added in 2014. In 2015 the USGS partnered with the International Mountain Biking Association (REI-Adventure Projects) to include trails outside of Federal lands. A pilot project with the National Park Service in 2016 added trails, visitor centers, trailheads, and campgrounds to US Topo maps covering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. 2018 US Topo maps include trails, trailheads, campgrounds, picnic areas, visitor centers, and other recreation information on selected Federal lands, using data provided by the relevant agencies. Continuing into the future, the USGS is working on partnerships with states and other organizations including The National Map Corps to expand recreational features to non-Federal lands. All such data will be in the public domain and published in The National Map geospatial databases.

The main point of this abstract is increasing the value of the current Colorado the Beautiful Initiative through additional data points gathered by mapping the trail systems with the use of unmanned aerial systems and 3rd party software to build the additional data points to be included in the current mapped environment.
I have used Unmanned Aerial Systems and 3rd Party Mapping Software Companies (DroneDeploy, Precision Hawk, Pix4D, and DroneMapper) to build sample data to support my work
I have been able to create sample maps, photos, video of certain trail sections to show how additional data sets can be included to increase the value of the initiative for both the public and government sectors
With the data I have collected, I can discuss several points of interest with the conference. I can show how the data can be utilized to benefit the public sector: Safety, knowledge, and planning and the government sector: trail maintenance, anticipating future problems- heavy traffic areas or lost hikers, plant health - fire danger and erosion, and intersection of multiple agency and private land area issues.

The City of Manitou Springs is planning a creek walk along Fountain Creek, an aspirational goal for over two decades. The question is: how to unite a diverse set of stakeholders with competing interests to agree on a preferred route, that incorporates their values and priorities? The answer was to use geodesign.
Geodesign is a powerful participatory planning method that uses stakeholder input and geospatial analytics to show the possible impact of design scenarios. It gets its strength in two ways: 1) from the diversity of participants—proving the adage that two heads are indeed better than one—and 2) from the power of spatial analytics, which allow the visualization of the world both as it is, and as it could be.
The presentation will focus on how geodesign methods where used to define stakeholder groups, clarify values, and prioritize criteria to help decision makers evaluate planning scenarios. Esri ArcGIS Pro was utilized to develop models—such as bikeability, walkability, ADA compliance, and more—that were used to both visualize and evaluate the impacts of each route segment. The spatial analysis resulted in an innovative solution that addressed both the concerns of both government and public stakeholders.
Attendees of this session will learn how to use geodesign as a systems approach for informed decision-making. More importantly, they will learn how to use spatial technology to guide conversations among diverse stakeholders to come up with plans that people understand and are happy with.

Terrain360 has been commissioned to create a 360° “streetview” map of the Captain John Smith National Scenic Trail, Huron River Water Trail, Lake Huron, Lake St. Clair, Detroit River and other important waterways in 2018.We will be discussing the technical and mechanical challenges of capturing/managing massive amounts of GIS data and imagery from these projects. We will also discuss dissemination of the data on a forward facing exploration tool.

TNMCorps is a crowdsourcing program that allows volunteers to help update structures data for The National Map by verifying, updating, adding, or deleting points through an online editing application. Volunteers can edit structure points across the US, with a focus on ensuring data quality through reference materials, tiered editing levels, automated and manual quality checks. Recent improvements include updated reference guides, new engagement methods like challenge maps, and a pilot study to collect courthouse data from scratch.

Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
