Good News – Information for the Fall 2014 class catalog has been submitted to the LSC System Office for
processing. They will process as needed to put into catalog format and send us a draft for review. Once
the draft is reviewed and finalized, the catalog will go to print. Members should receive catalogs by
August.
Thanks to everyone that arranged for speakers/instructors for the Fall classes. It takes the input and
effort of a lot of people to pull the class schedule together. People that arranged for speakers will serve
as facilitators for those classes in the Fall.
Special thanks goes to Lou Master for his immeasurable work on the class spreadsheet and catalog text.
Also thanks goes to Al Pitre for managing the class calendar during the planning process. The calendar is
full of lots of interesting classes for the Fall.
There will be no formal classes during the summer. However, the games will continue to play in the
cafeteria. Dominos and Rummikub will play on Thursday afternoons at 2:00-4:00 as usual. Beginning
June 2nd
, Mah Jongg will change from Fridays to Mondays at 1:30-3:30 because the college is closed on
Fridays during the summer.
Hope everyone enjoys the summer vacation…..but always keep your eyes and ears open for possible
speakers for the ALL program. Collect names and email addresses for interesting people so that you can
contact them again in the Fall as we begin working on the Spring classes.

2. Bus Trips
On April 24 CyFair ALL traveled to Cuero (the Wildflower Capital of Texas) to wander the back roads
looking at wildflowers and visited two local museums. Many Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush flowers
were seen along I-10, to and from Cuero. The county roads around Cuero are in very bad conditions so
we would not recommend this part of our trip to other bus groups. However, in the one spot along the
road where we stopped for pictures, we saw an enormous variety of wildflowers.
The trips we currently have planned for 2014:
Thursday, May 15: Glass bottom boat rides in San Marcos
Tuesday, June 3: Houston Mounted Police demonstration, lunch and a tour of St. Arnold’s
Brewery
Sunday, July 20: Dinner and the musical “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” at Miller
Outdoor Theater
Monday, August 11: A guided tour of City Hall and a visit to the Downtown Tunnels
Wednesday, September 17: guided tour of Austin
Sign up for the third quarter trips was May 8 at 10AM in HSC 105 & 106 again. The turnout was very
light. We think this is because members are not using the blog and did not know about the sign up.
Currently we have short wait lists for the June and August trips and there are seats available on the July
and September trips.
Registration for the fourth quarter trips will be on Sept 19, NOT at the Fall Open House.

We had the A.L.L. end-of-year get together last Friday from 11am-1pm. The event included:
Announcements were made about the plans for the Ten Year Anniversary for the LSC-CyFair A.L.L.
group. The event is planned for November 21, 2014 with more information to follow in the Fall
semester.
Sharon had a few more bus signups as there were still some seats available on a trip or two.
Everyone brought delicious finger foods to share, and as usual, there was a lot of food available.
There was a smaller group, so we were able to share our personal information with everyone in a round
robin setting and got to know each other better.
Cheryl spoke about the wonderful plays and concerts available to us through Lone Star College.
