This document provides information about the ISS 2014 conference and the overall aims of the ABEC consortium. It discusses creating a network between universities to facilitate sharing of biomedical engineering resources and promoting open innovation. The goals are to promote student and staff exchange, teaching and research excellence, and engage industry and public partners. A general overview is provided of how biomedical products and services could connect various stakeholders through a web platform and FabLabs. The document also presents a case study of a sterilizer product developed at ISS 2013 and an agenda for the ISS 2014 programme.
