Editor's Notes
Discuss who is all involved in ensuring the success of a chapter. After discussing the first five key players (copilots and passengers) click once to bring up PARENTS.
Discuss ways parents are currently involved in the chapter. After discussion, introduce idea of the “parent liaison”.
The role of a Best Buddies Parent Liaison (PL) is to serve as the primary connection between a Best Buddies chapter, the Best Buddies state office, and parents of the chapter participants.
PLs will be provided with training and support from the Best Buddies staff. PLs will also be provided with the parent contact information (primarily E-mail addresses) to help parents stay informed about future Best Buddies events, share information about upcoming programs and conferences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and serve as a general support for the chapter. This position can be as involved as the PL is able!
