Mobile World Congress Recap Day 1 from Ogilvy & Mather #OgilvyMWC #MWC14Ogilvy
Day 1 of MWC 2014 is in the books, and it was a big one. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook talked about connecting the whole world, telcos proved they could be lifestyle companies, video was revealed as an internet-eating monster, and the promise of social mobility was found to rest with, well, mobile. What will Day 2 bring?
For one week each year Sin City plays host to the next-generation of innovations and technologies before they’re introduced to the marketplace. This year, more than 200,000 attendees came to CES to walk through 2.5 million square feet of trade show space to see the latest drones, connected cars, TVs and smartphones, and even a VR device that gives you the sensation of flying through the sky like a superhero.
Y&R sent some of our brightest minds to take in the sights and sounds of CES 2016. Here’s what they had to say:

In this update of his past presentations on Mobile Eating the World -- delivered most recently at The Guardian's Changing Media Summit -- a16z’s Benedict Evans takes us through how technology is universal through mobile. How mobile is not a subset of the internet anymore. And how mobile (and accompanying trends of cloud and AI) is also driving new productivity tools.
In fact, mobile -- which encompasses everything from drones to cars -- is everything.
Space and Lemon Innovation Lab produces one digital trend study per year. In 2016 with the "growth of China tech and a mighty start-up ecosystem". This study has been shared in workshops and keynotes in 2016, 83 times.
The Golden Age of Wearables: Personal Networks, Smart Things & Intimate Know...Paul Brody
The golden age of wearables is upon us. But we should be wary: there is no easy path forward. From smart watches to smart socks to smart door locks, the business models are uncertain and the competition is intense. There are five battlegrounds ahead for companies that want to survive.
B2B Transformation in the Electronics IndustryPaul Brody
How are the same trends that affect the consumer electronics industry going to affect companies operating in the B2B space? This presentation from IBM's electronics global leadership forum takes you through case examples and recommendations.
History has many examples of powerful companies that seem to be unbeatable. Then in a short time they become irrelevant due to new companies with new ideas. One of the factors in such transformation is technology. Never in history has technological change been so important in building and destroying companies. We look at few examples of successful companies that fail to address the chaning times and become disrupted. We also look at why technology emerges when it does and why some ideas can only be realised when certain conditions are met.
In this first lecture we set the tone for the course and define the themes that we will be looking at.
Catch the highlights from MWC16 in this quick recap. Learn about everything that happened at Mobile World Congress, including new virtual reality devices, the latest developments in IoT, and much, much more.

About my new book: are you ready for the greatest changes in recent human history? Futurism meets humanism in Gerd Leonhard’s ground-breaking new work of critical observation, discussing the multiple Megashifts that will radically alter not just our society and economy but our values and our biology. World of Personal Technology
Innovation in service firms lags behind innovation in industrial firms, says research from the Flanders DC knowledge center at the Vlerick Management School. The research also gives strategy and policy recommendations. We think that service innovation is important: 3 out of 4 jobs in Flanders come from the service industries.
