The document summarizes notes from a thesis studio meeting where the student Isadora Dantas discusses ideas for promoting philanthropy through interactive kindness. The professor provides feedback that the student's prototypes do not align with wanting to inspire good deeds for others. The student then discusses an idea for an interactive "kindness chain" where good deeds are passed on and it is known that a child in need will ultimately benefit. Statistics on volunteering and charitable giving in the US are presented, leading to an idea called "Random Acts of Kindness" that involves raising funds through good gestures.
The document discusses how finding meaning and purpose can improve well-being and performance, noting that prisoners who had meaningful goals enjoyed better psychological and physical health. This document discusses SWOT analysis and proposes a new five-step method for conducting SWOT analysis. It begins with an overview of the origins and development of SWOT analysis in strategic planning literature. It then reviews examples of how SWOT analysis has been applied in practice, noting limitations such as lack of agreement among managers in identifying strengths and weaknesses. The document proposes a new method for SWOT analysis focused on critical customer values and competitive comparisons to assess organizational strengths in terms of strong product positioning. It concludes by illustrating the new method through a case analysis and considering implications for analyzing threats.

The document emphasizes that employment legislation regulates many areas of human resource management and that organizations must comply with laws around discrimination, disability rights, and discipline procedures.
The document discusses tenets of innovation for libraries in a hyper-connected world. It outlines that innovation is desirable to users, possible with technology, and viable in the marketplace. The tenets include that ideas can come from anywhere, building on creative assets, freedom to brainstorm with diverse ideas, sharing ideas transparently, pursuing passions, accepting that innovation is not perfect initially, embracing failure to learn and improve, aligning innovation with strategy, focusing on patrons over the status quo, and morphing ideas rather than dismissing them.
The document discusses coalitions and negotiations across cultures. It provides tips for forming effective coalitions, such as choosing a committed leader, clearly defining issues and strategy, and sharing successes. It also notes potential problems like one member dominating or conflicting goals. When negotiating, representatives should balance the needs of coalition members while avoiding individuals influencing discussions. Trust and written agreements that benefit all sides are important. Culture influences negotiations through priorities, strategies, and patterns of interaction. Factors like individualism, power distance, and communication context must be considered for successful cross-cultural negotiations.

Tales and Talk for Twos and Threes: On the Go!
Share nursery rhymes or other rhymes so the child will learn to hear and play with
“same” and “different” sounds in words.
Singing is the most natural way to hear the smaller sounds in words since each sound is
usually sung on a different musical note.
Share books that rhyme or can be sung. Read slowly, clearly, and enthusiastically.
Play with words and sounds.
o Leave a pause before saying the rhyming word in order to let the child think and
respond. Point to objects or pictures as clues.
o Clap on each syllable (or part) of a word or just on the words that rhyme.
o Talk and say words in different ways. (How would a giant or a mouse say a word?)

After storytime, a librarian will be available to help you find library materials as well as
answer questions about the ”Ready to Read” program and “To-Go” Kits.
