This document describes several patient positioning techniques including: 1) Lateral position - used for unconscious patients and rectal/vaginal exams. The patient lies on their side with one arm behind their back. 2) Dorsal recumbent position - used for catheterization, exams, and operations. The patient lies on their back with knees flexed and supported. 3) Lithotomy position - used for gynecological exams, procedures, delivery. The patient lies back with legs separated and supported in stirrups. 4) Knee-chest position - used for sigmoidoscopy, exams, and treatment.
