Resources can be classified as energy resources and materials used by humanity. Population growth and urbanization increase resource consumption and pollution as more people live in cities, where residents use 40% more energy than rural areas. New York City alone produces 11,000 tons of waste daily. Humanity primarily uses energy for heating, construction, domestic use, electricity, and transportation, with major sources being fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas, as well as nuclear, wind, solar, biomass and hydroelectric power. However, dependence on finite resources like fossil fuels risks depletion and causes environmental issues like pollution and climate change.
