The National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) is a youth uniformed organization under the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore that aims to develop responsible citizens. Students who join NPCC participate in a variety of activities including lectures on national education, total defense, law, and community service. These activities teach students values like care, empathy, and civic duty while also building confidence, resilience, and leadership skills. It argues that police officers are often on their own in thinking out strategies, planning operations, or calculating tactics. The paper employs the social learning theory to capture the mission, vision, and philosophy of the Academy in producing the ideal police officer for Nigeria. The trendy figurative phrase of ‘the thin blue line’ policing documentary movie is deployed to depict the complex challenges and prospects for the police in society. The paper projects the Police as the force holding back chaos to allow for order and civilisation to thrive; at the same time striving to practice good policing within its enclave. It describes command and leadership acquired by the POLAC cadet-graduates as a necessary tool for wading through the dysfunctional work environment hindering the police and policing in Nigeria. A simulation exercise is specially designed for the POLAC graduating Cadets on how to form a networking platform as preparation for facing the challenges and prospects of a technology-driven world. The Lincoln Police Department is a nationally accredited agency through the Commission on Accreditation
for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). In 1989, the Lincoln Police department was the first agency in the
State of Nebraska to be accredited. In an effort to track advancements in our department, the Lincoln
Police Department produced a five-year strategic plan. Our vision for the Lincoln Police Department is to
continually offer our community consistent, fair and professional services and our employees a progressive
and innovative workplace.
Captain Joy Citta and Sergeant Randy Clark were assigned in 2016 to create the department’s Strategic
Plan for 2017 through 2021. The plan encompasses four focus areas: Community Policing; Staffing &
Facilities; Technology; and Training. Committees for each area were formed and consisted of
commissioned and civilian personnel from LPD, representatives from local and state government as well as
students from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The committees met for several months to discuss, research,
and create the Lincoln Police Department Strategic Plan.
The Lincoln Police Department is comprised of 328 commissioned and 144 civilian personnel. We continue
as a leader within the law enforcement community in the areas of technology and innovative problem
solving strategies. The Lincoln Police Department maintains a strong commitment to community and
intelligence-led policing.
The City of Lincoln continues to grow, not only in population but in square miles, and the Strategic Plan will
play a key role to ensure the Lincoln Police Department grows along with the community we serve.

Our group interviewed IT teachers at their school to understand the purpose and values of the IT department. The interviews found that the IT department aims to teach students relevant software skills to prepare them for a knowledge-based economy. They also encourage using technology in teaching and learning anytime, anywhere. While being an IT teacher can be easy in terms of technical skills, managing disruptive students is the most difficult part. The IT teachers enjoy their jobs and the group is grateful for the technology education they receive.

Sport Leaders are students selected based on their ability, interest, and commitment to sports who lead games and houses in their school. They organize outdoor events, games, camps, and activities to teach peers survival skills, teamwork, and increase camaraderie. Teachers recommend suitable students for the role of Sport Leader, who are identified by their leadership in sports.

Tanglin Secondary School's Group 5 achieved several awards in performing arts, sports, and uniform groups. In performing arts, they won gold and silver awards at the Singapore Youth Festival for Guzheng, Dance Ensemble, Contemporary Dance, and Malay Dance. Their Military Band won bronze. In sports, the Athletics team won several individual and relay events and the Soccer team was champion of the West Zone competition and reached the top 16 at the National level. The uniform groups like NPCC, NCC, SJAB and BB also achieved silver, bronze, and gold awards at various competitions.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
