Fetal echocardiography provides several advantages for diagnosing and managing congenital heart disease: 1) It allows for counseling of parents on prognosis and treatment options, including the possibility of termination of pregnancy for major defects or chromosomal anomalies. 2) In some cases, it enables life-saving procedures to be performed on the mother or fetus before or during pregnancy. 3) It facilitates delivery planning at a specialized medical center near pediatric cardiac surgery.
