This document is a thesis submitted by Rajeev Kumar to the Indian Institute of Technology Madras for the award of Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology degrees. The thesis investigates optimal resource allocation, adjacent channel interference effect, and optimal SINR-threshold in fractional frequency reuse for LTE uplink. It presents optimal and suboptimal resource allocation algorithms for SC-FDMA systems and evaluates their performance with and without considering adjacent channel interference. It also studies fractional frequency reuse and soft frequency reuse techniques for inter-cell interference mitigation and optimizes the fractional frequency reuse scheme. Simulation results are presented to evaluate the different algorithms and interference mitigation techniques.
