The Central Information Commission organized a seminar on land records and the Right to Information Act 2005. The Chief Information Commissioner said that around half the RTI queries received by state commissions relate to land records. He emphasized the need for state governments to make land record information publicly available. Digitization of land records would bring clarity to holdings and reduce crimes and court cases related to land disputes. The Secretary of the Department of Land Resources said an integrated land information management system is being implemented, which will link land records with Aadhaar numbers to eliminate benami transactions.

Information Commissioner
Shri Radha Krishna Mathur
said that almost half of the
RTI queries received by the
State Information
Commissions relate to Land
Records. He said Land
Resources primarily being a
State subject, it is incumbent
upon the State Governments
to put out information on Land
Records in the public domain.
Shri Mathur said that Land
issues are at the heart of
administrative India and
majority of crimes in the
society are related to land
disputes. He said that the
digitization of Land Records
will bring about clarity in land
holdings, thereby help reduce
criminal cases, cut pendency
of court cases and also result
in huge savings to the public
exchequer.
Speaking on the occasion,
Shri Dinesh Singh, Secretary,
Department of Land
Resources (DLR), said Land
Records is fundamental to
every citizen and affects every
individual. He said that an
integrated Land Information
Management System is under
implementation which will
serve as a single window
database for the various
stakeholders such as the land
owner(s) and civic agencies
and linking this database with
the Aadhar number will

European Union (EU) and
India today announced the
establishment of an Investment
Facilitation Mechanism (IFM)
for EU Investments in India.
The mechanism will allow for
a close coordination between
the European Union and the
Government of India with an
aim to promote and facilitate
EU investment in India. This
agreement builds on the Joint
Statement of the 13th EU-India
Summit held in Brussels in
March 2016, where the EU had
welcomed India's readiness to
establish such a mechanism
and leaders from both sides had
reaffirmed their shared
commitment to oppose
protectionism and to work in
favour of a fair, transparent and
rule-based trade and
investment environment. As
part of the IFM, the EU
Delegation to India and the
Department of Industrial
Policy & Promotion (DIPP),
Ministry of Commerce &
Industry, agreed to hold regular
high level meetings to assess
and facilitate "ease of doing
business" for EU investors in
India. This will include
identifying and putting in place
solutions to procedural
impediments faced by EU
companies and investors in
establishing or running their
operations in India. Stressing
the importance of this
initiative, H.E. Mr. Tomasz
Koslowski, Ambassador of the
European Union to India said,
"the establishment of the
Investment Facilitation
Mechanism is a right step in
the direction of strengthening
the trade and investment ties
between the EU and India. The
EU is the largest foreign
investor in India and this
initiative helps ensuring a more
robust, effective and
predictable business
environment for the EU
investors. At the last Summit in
March 2016, leaders of both
sides decided to create a new
momentum in our relations. We
are delivering on this."

The IFM has been
established with the key
objectives of paving the way

already established in India.
The IFM is also going to serve
as a platform for discussing
general suggestions from the
point of view of EU companies
and investors with regard to
ease of doing business in India,

Investment Facilitation Mechanism
Establish Between European Union & India
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)
has been asked by the Ministry of Housing &
Urban Affairs to ensure completion of smart
city projects ahead of time so as to lead by
example in smart city making across the
country. Timelines for the same have been
fixed at a two hour review of implementation
of NDMC’s Smart City Plan taken by Shri
Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary (Housing &
Urban Affairs) last evening. Shri Naresh
Kumar, Chairman, NDMC and senior
officials of the ministry and the Council
attended the review. Of the Rs.1,800 cr Smart
City Plan of NDMC, work on a range of
major impactful projects will begin in phases
by October this year, for which tendering is in
progress. These include setting up of a
Unified Command and Control Centre, Smart
water and power grids, multi-level parking at
Khan Market, sensor based smart parking,
public bike sharing, converting an additional
333 classrooms into smart ones, Sewage
Treatment Plants, smart public hygiene
centres etc. Smart redesign of 13 roads
totaling 31 kms including seven roads leading
to Connaught Place will begin much earlier.
Implementation of projects worth another
Rs.500 cr will begin by March next year.
These include; India Investment Centre at
Yashwant Place, Shivaji Terminal Transport
Hub, World Class Skill Centre at Moti Bagh,
Incubation Centre, Paryatan Bhawan etc.
Presenting the details of projects
implemented so far, Shri Naresh Kumar,
Chairman of NDMC asserted that “NDMC
has made a quiet smart beginning with smart
solutions initiatives already yielding positive
results. Student enrollment and OPD
registration have shown good improvement
further to converting 444 classrooms so far
into smart ones and online registration in
hospitals run by the Council.
Mobile app Smart City 311 is finding
wider traction with citizens availing various
services online”. Shri Mishra asked NDMC
to include more services on 311 app like bus
schedules and frequencies at all bus stops,
information related to parking lots and
availability of slots therein etc. He also
directed the Council to ensure all residents of
NDMC are brought on this platform besides
promoting use of this app among the large
floating population.

the founders confessed that
during their research they

original, copyrighted in their

writers into artists! According to World Health Organization,
pneumonia and diarrhoea are the top two caus-
es of mortality among children worldwide.
Together, these diseases account for nearly
30% of deaths of children who are less than
five years old and lead to the loss of 2 million
young lives each year. In India, 50% of malnu-
trition cases is associated with repeated diar-
rhoea or intestinal worm infections due to
unsafe water, poor sanitation or hygiene. Risks
to these preventable diseases can be mitigated
by observing good hygiene practices including
washing of hands with soap.
Hilton (NYSE:HLT) and non-profit organi-
zation Sundara today announced that they
have been working together to counter these
causes and positively impact people in the
communities in Mumbai through their soap
recycling partnership which began in July
2016. The enclosed three-minute video sheds
light on how local communities have benefited
from the program.
Each month Sundara works with partners
including Hilton - its largest hospitality partner
in India – to deliver soap and hygiene trainings
to over 4,000 children and families in
Mumbai. The NGO also conduct similar train-
ings regularly conducted for adults and chil-
dren at medical centres in the Kalwa slums.
Participating Hilton hotels collect partially
used soap from guest rooms and donate them
to Sundara who in turn sanitizes and recycles
the soap, and finally delivers the new soap bars
to local communities, alongside the hygiene
trainings.
Sharing her delight on this initiative, Erin
Zaikis, founder of Sundara, said, “For years
now, Sundara along with its partners has been
working hard to train on hand hygiene aware-
ness, thereby reducing preventable diseases
that are caused by poor hygiene conditions. We
try to bring in the idea of shared responsibility
for this problem by involving community
members and corporations at every level of

partner from the start and has helped us grow
our impact immensely as a part of their sus-
tainability efforts.”
On Hilton’s partnership with Sundara ,

women to recycle soap full time and 26 local
women to become local hygiene ambassadors.
Several women from the communities who are
a part of this programme and have become the
hygiene ambassadors of Sundara are happy to
have found a dignified source of livelihood in

have been involved in soap and amenity recy-
cling, donating more than 45,300 kilograms

7. Raag Desh is a 2017 upcoming
Indian film, directed and produced by
national award winning director
Tigmanshu Dhulia. The film is based
on Indian National Army trials, the joit
court martial of Indian National Army
officers Colonel Prem Sehgal, Colonel
Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, Major
General Shah Nawaz Khan. Mohit
Marwah, Amit Sadh and Kunal Kapoor
and will play the lead roles respectively
in the film. Rishi Punjabi is the cine-
matographer of the film. The film will
be released on July 28, 2017 The film
is a period drama, based on the Indian
National Army set up by Netaji
Subhash Chandra Bose and the war to
liberate India from the British
Government which was fought on the
shores of the Irrawaddy in Burma. The
British Government called the soldiers
of the INA "renegades and Japanese
stooges", and a trial was held at the Red
Fort in Delhi, which was
called the Red Fort Trials of
1945. Raag Desh brings to life
that epic trial which paved the
way for India's freedom. The
first schedule was shot in
Mumbai in the month of July
2016 and the Red fort trial
court room set was erected.
The second extensive schedule
was canned in Nov and Dec
2016 in Dehradun,
Uttarakhand. where the war
zone terrain in Burma was set
up and also Delhi where shoot-
ing took place in Saleemgarh
area inside Redfort where the
INA soldiers were held cap-
tive. Shooting also took place
in areas around Chandni
Chowk. The third and final
schedule shot from 16 April
2017 in Mumbai again. All vignettes,
facts and figures have been used after
months of thorough research. Surviving
war heroes, their family members,
books of research, archives and war
memorial data was consulted to write
the script. A team of researchers worked
for almost one year to gather all the
information before the actual writing
process started.

Mohammed Hussain had run away

open a tea stall. He also has a criminal case
against him in Mangaluru. As this time he
tried a big heist to settle and lead a lavish
life as he was bound to get marry shortly
also but it went in vain.
Three special team were formed led by
DCP west, M N Anucheth,one team was
busy in collecting information from the
neighbours and lodge staff about his
movements.second team was busy in col-
lecting vital clues from the technical wing
and CCTV footage from the lodge and as

action and left to hubbali to nab the culprit

Jewellers is located on the ground floor of
a two storey building on the first floor
there is a lodge by name Platinum
lodge.The thief had taken a room in the
lodge directly above the jewellery store
since June 19th. Since June 19th he has
been using machines tools like drilling
machine etc to bore through the floor of
the hotel in such a way that it directly lands
into the jewellery store.He successfully
was able to enter the jewellery store from
the top by drilling up a hole which is of
1.5ft wide he bore through about 1.5ft
thickness of concrete and whatever materi-
al he used to drill he used to packet in a bag
and keep it in the room itself now on
Saturday evening he has gained access into
the jewellery store and gone to the Walt
and broken it open and he has taken
around 1kg 300 grams of gold and about
14 kgs of silver and he fled from that place
at around 7am in the morning. We had
formed 3 special teams to trace the
accused and we had circulated his photo
through whatsapp and other social media
network to all the bus drivers and who ever
possible to trace the accused. While he was
travelling from hubbali towards Mumbai
in a private bus one of the driver has con-
firmed that such a person is looking like
that is there in our bus so our team was
right behind about 100 kms away so we
were able to intercept the vehicle and we
have been successful into nab the
accused.The accused had try to disguise
himself by shaving his head in hubbali
where he had taken rest for about two
hours so we have recovered the property
intact about 1kg 300 grams of various gold
items and about 14 kg of silver items.On
June 19th basically he has first scouted out
the area while having tea and talking to the

tance from the roadside from the curve

In the wake of forthcom-
ing session of the Parliament
beginning from Monday, the
Confederation of All India
Traders (CAIT) in a commu-
nication sent to Union
Consumer Affairs Minister
Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan today,
has urged to pass the Bill in
this session and also that
Brand Ambassadors endors-
ing products should be
brought under the ambit of
Consumer Protection Act
since they influence choice of
consumers and promote sale
of products. In support of its
demand, the CAIT has cited
recommendations of
Parliament Standing
Committee on Food &
Consumer Affairs calling for
bringing Brand Ambassadors
under Consumer Protection
Act and even fix their liabili-
ties. In its communication to
Mr. Paswan, the CAIT has
argued that Brand
Ambassadors are integral part
of sales campaign of the prod-
uct by virtue of taking consid-
erations against the endorse-
ment of the product. and that
too generally under a contract.
In fact they act as service
providers in entire sales
mechanism and therefore they
become subject to Consumer
Protection Act and also the
money taken as consideration
by the Brand Ambassadors is
generally accounted in the
cost of product.

said the faulty implementa-
tion of the GST, in its present
form, has adversely affected
not only the traders, but also
the common people. He said
the GST in its present form
was intended to benefit only
the rich and industrialist
friends of the Modi govern-
ment while small and medium
industries were closing shops,
unable to bear with the
adverse impact of GST with
its innumerable tax slabs and
cesses, and as a result, unem-
ployment was mounting. Shri
Maken said the BJP had
promised to give employment
to two crore youth every year,
but the BJP has not only failed
keep up with its promise
despite being in power for
three years, but was robbing
the jobs of poor people due to
the wrong policies of the
Modi Government and the
faulty implementation of
GST. Shri Ajay Maken said
that during the last two years,
the Delhi Congress had held
many dharnas and demonstra-
tions to raise the problems and
issues of the common people,
like the deaths of innocent
people due to dengue and
swine flu epidemics and the
difficulties caused to the com-
mon people due to demoneti-

Delhi Congress has been
opposing the wrong policies

Indian student Asif Sheth
was found hanging from the

his roommate Winson was
found lying in a pool of

Investigation in the mur-
der case of Indian student
Asif Sheth has revealed that
he might have entered in to
an altercation wit his room-
mate Winson that might
have triggered the violent
quarrel. Sheth's roommate
Winson was also found
lying in a pool of blood in
the same room on Friday

According to initial find-
ings, it is believed that the
two roommates fought over
liquor, that had a rather bru-
tal end.
Autopsy report of Sheth's
reveals that he sustained 16
blunt injury marks all over
his body apart from being
strangulated to death. His
parents are expected to
arrive in Chittagong to col-
lect his body.

sector, a former US diplo-
mat has said that China
needs to acknowledge that
India is "a force to be reck-
oned with" and countries in
the region are unsettled by

The Board of Control for Cricket
in India (BCCI) has picked Shikhar
Dhawan in place of injured Murali
Vijay for the upcoming three-match
Test series between India and Sri
Lanka.
Opener Vijay, who had suffered a
wrist and shoulder injury during
Australia’s tour of India, was initial-
ly picked in India’s squad against
Sri Lanka, where they play three
Tests, five ODIs and one T20I.
However, after enduring an injury,
he was replaced by Dhawan for the
upcoming Test series. The BCCI
medical team advised Vijay to con-
tinue his rehabilitation program
after he complained of pain in his
right wrist after a preparatory
match. In the 16-member squad
announced by the BCCI last week,
Karun Nair was dropped from the
squad after Rohit Sharma, who
recovered from a thigh injury,
returned back to the fold.
Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul,

Australia Test series because of

been associated with the Cancer Patients
Aid Association (CPAA) has further
decided to strengthen its support to the
fight against cancer in India among other
worthy causes. RYTHM Foundation, the
corporate social responsibility arm of
direct selling company QNet, and CPAA
came together in late 2016 thanks to the
awareness created by Bollywood star
Vivek Oberoi, who has been a patron of
CPAA for over a decade. CPAA is a non
profit organisation dedicated to the total
management of cancer as a disease for
last 48 years. In September last year,
Vivek Oberoi announced a partnership
between the CPAA and RYTHM
Foundation for the Adopt-a-Patient
Scheme to fund the treatment of 20 chil-
dren with cancer, from low income fami-
lies. Since the launch of the project, chil-
dren chosen by the CPAA between the
ages of 2 and 16 have been undergoing
treatment at leading hospitals in Mumbai.
In May this year, the CPAA announced
that 19 of the children were now on the
road to recovery and undergoing mainta-
nence therapy. Recently, the CPAA was
invited to QNet’s annual global conven-
tion in Malaysia to speak about their work
and they brought with them three brave
young warriors, Divyanshu, Lahu, and
Aakanksha, who are now cancer free.
Vivek Oberoi accompanied CPAA and
the children and thanked RYTHM
Foundation for its support.
