This document discusses efforts to enhance groundnut productivity and production in drought-prone areas of Sub-Saharan Africa. It outlines projects in Mali, Niger, and Nigeria to (1) evaluate and promote drought-tolerant and disease-resistant varieties through on-farm testing, (2) develop new technologies and breeding lines, and (3) build capacity through training programs and improved research infrastructure. Farmer-preferred varieties identified through these projects offer 30-40% higher yields and desirable traits like early maturity and disease resistance. Information is shared with farmers through workshops, field days, and other outreach.
