Research Activity
1. Using the map on p. 51, in pairs choose 1x town where a demonstration
occurred
2. 2. Research the activities/events that took place in the town and the focus of
the Freedom Riders.
⬜ You may like to use these spring board questions for your research: What were
the freedom rides? Why did the Freedom Riders choose that town? What did
they aim to do? What action did they take? What was the response of the town?

  • 3. The Australian Freedom Rides Learning Goal ◻ To understand the aim and events of the Freedom Rides in the context of the Australian Civil Rights movement. Success Criteria 1. Starter: WHO AM I? ◻ On your Google Doc complete the following ◻ You will have approximately 7 minutes to conduct some brief research into Charles Perkins and create a WHO AM I? based on his biographical detail and role in the Australian Freedom Rides. ◻ Your WHO AM I? statement needs to include a MINIMUM of 8 points about Charles Perkins

  • 8. Research Activity 1. Using the map on p. 51, in pairs choose 1x town where a demonstration occurred 2. 2. Research the activities/events that took place in the town and the focus of the Freedom Riders. ⬜ You may like to use these spring board questions for your research: What were the freedom rides? Why did the Freedom Riders choose that town? What did they aim to do? What action did they take? What was the response of the town?
