Frequency Reconfiguration Mechanism of a PIN Diode on a Reconfigurable Antenn...IJECEIAES
Microstrip patch antennas are increasingly gaining popularity for usage in portable wireless system applications due to their light weight, low profile structure, low cost of production and robust nature. The patch is generally made of a conducting material such as copper or gold and can take any possible shapes, but rectangular shapes are generally used to simplify analysis and performance prediction. Microstrip patch antenna radiates due to the fringing fields between the patch edge and ground plane. In this work, a frequency reconfigurable antenna with a BAR63-02V Positive-IntrinsicNegative (PIN) diode is designed, simulated and fabricated. The antenna operates at 2.686GHz for Long-Term Evolution (LTE2500) and 5.164GHz for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) applications. In the OFF state, the antenna operates at 5.302GHz, which is also suitable for WLAN application. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a FR-4 substrate with a relative dielectric constant, ε r of 4.5, thickness, h of 1.6mm and loss tangent, tan δ of 0.019. The fabrication process is carried out at the Advanced Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design Laboratory in UTHM.

Hexa-band MIMO CPW Bow-tie Aperture Antenna Using Particle Swarm Optimization IJECEIAES
A MIMO hexa-band Bowtie Antenna for Wi-Fi is proposed. The MIMO antenna can operate at six frequency bands: 2.4, 4.4, 6.1, 8.5, 10.25 and 12.8 GHz. The MIMO antenna consists of four loaded bowtie hexa-band antennas having the same structure. Each single antenna element is loaded with six metallic strips as well as interconnected parasitic rectangular components. The presented HFSS simulations will show that the MIMO loaded antenna can operate at six frequency bands including 2.4 GHz by obtaining the return loss results, radiation patterns, and other antenna parameters. It will be shown also that the MIMO bowtie antenna has a very low mutual coupling at all the operating frequencies for the specific loaded metallic strips width which was obtained using Particle Swarm Optimization technique.

Next generation 5G wireless solutions need to meet the anticipated demands of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications in the 2020 era with the total number of devices expected to be about 50 billion for a projected population of around 8 billion according to an Ericsson report. M2M applications can be classified into two categories: Low-cost wide-area and low-latency ultra-reliable M2M. Low-cost wide-area M2M communication requires simple hardware architecture, integration of significant energy efficiency methods and energy harvesting technologies, and enhanced coverage, for such applications as smart metering, fire alarms, sensor networks. Despite LTE enhancements proposed for this class of M2M, however, LTE is not expected to be dominantly used in the near future due to its low coverage and high cost equipment, according to Cisco VNI Mobile, 2015. More research is needed to natively include this M2M class in 5G networks. On the other hand, low-latency ultra-reliable M2M communication requires satisfying strict delay constraint and ultra-high reliability of such applications as platooning of vehicles, robotic control and interaction, remote health care. Controlling the elements in our environment based on the data provided from these machines in this class of M2M applications requires a paradigm shift for control and communication systems with novel strategies for their joint design in beyond 5G networks.
Designing large-scale antenna array using sub-arrayjournalBEEI
Antenna array of large scale have been examined for different applications including 5G technology. To get better data rate or a reliable link substantial number of antenna arrays have been utilized to provide high multiplexing gains as well as array gains with high directivity. In this paper a simple but efficient implementation technique of using sub-arrays for the improvement of large-sized uniform arrays. By repeating a small sub-array multiple times large arrays can be designed. This implication of utilizing small array simplifies the design of a larger array which allows the designer to concentrate on the smaller sub-array before assembling larger arrays. So, by investigating the sub arrays the performance and radiation characteristics of large arrays can be anticipated. The array-factor for a planar sub-array of 2x2 (4 elements) is analyzed using Mat-lab software and then a large array is formed by placing the 2x2 sub-array indifferent configurations in a rectangular arrangements up to 8x8 planar array. And then the results are validated with CST (Computer simulation technology) simulation results. In this way the array-factors, directivities, HPBWs, and side lobes of the constructed large arrays are analyzed and associated with the small sub-array.

Abstract Antibiotic toxicity and multi drug resistant pathogens are the two greatest challenges being faced by today's medical world. In the present study, the antimicrobial activity of spices has been investigated as an alternative to antibiotics in order to tackle these dangers. In search of bioactive compound, methanol and acetone extract of 5 Indian spices were screened for antibacterial property. The choice of spice as an alternative is based on two basic reasons: firstly, plants have been the model source of medicine since ancient times and secondly, the increasing acceptance of herbal medicines by general population methanolic and acetone extracts were used to determine antifungal properties of the spices. The antifungal activity of five common Indian spices namely clove, ajwain, turmeric, dalchini and black pepper against two bacteria Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma sp. The results revealed that the methanol extracts of spices (MIC values of 20- 100 μl/ml) have high antimicrobial activities on all test organisms (range of inhibition, 6- 16 mm) as compare to acetone extracts of spices in same concentration. Results concluded that these spices contain high amount of secondary metabolites due to these metabolites they have high antimicrobial activity and it can be used as good bio- preservater and it can also use for medicinal purpose. Keywords: Antibacterial Properties, Secondary Metabolites, Multi Drug Resistant Pathogens.

The greatest advantages of optical fibers are the possibility of extending data rate transmission and propagation distances. Being a multicarrier technique, the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) can be applicable in hybrid optical-wireless systems design owing to its best spectral efficiency for the interferences of radio frequency (RF) and minor multipath distortion. An optical OFDM-RoF-based wireless local area network (W-LAN) system has been studied and evaluated in this work. The outline for integrating an optical technology and wireless in a single system was provided with the existence of OFDM-RoF technology and the microstrip patch antenna; these were applied in the Optisystem communication tool. The design of the proposed OFDM-RoF system is aimed at supporting mm-wave services and multi-standard operations. The proposed system can operate on different RF bands using different modulation schemes like 4.16 and 64QAM that may be associated to OFDM and multidata rates up to 5 Gbps. The results demonstrate the robustness of the integrated optical wireless link in propagating OFDM-RoF-based WLAN signals across optical fibers.

Performance Evaluation and Simulation of OFDM in Optical Communication SystemsIJERA Editor
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is of prime importance nowadays in long haul
communication networks because of its higher spectral efficiency, immunity to multipath fading and its
resilience to interference. Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is considered as a promising
technology to satisfy the increased demand for bandwidth in broadband services. It is of two types based on the
detection techniques employed. They are direct detection and coherent detection. In direct detection OFDM, a
photodiode is used while in the latter the principle of optical mixing is utilized. This paper investigates the
architecture of single channel and four channel direct detection and coherent detection optical OFDM systems
and carries out performance analysis based on bit error rate and Q-factor. In the case of single channels, a date
rate of 10 Gbps is achieved while in 4 channel systems a data rate of 40 Gbps is achieved. Coherent Optical
OFDM (CO-OFDM) is the next generation technology for the optical communications, since it integrates the
advantages of both coherent systems and OFDM systems.

Fiber as transmission medium
Fiber optic based transmission uses "fiber" as the transmission medium, so it is only specifying the physical layer. Fiber optic measurement technology is mostly concentrating on the evaluation of this layer, most often physical parameters. The protocols and bitrates used are "electrically" based. However fiber optic is the only transmission medium, that allows to use highest bitrates over long distance, where the copper-layer would already be at its limits (bandwith and attenuation vice!).
Fiber Optic Transmission is just an electromagnetic wave ! However the frequencies/ wavelengths used are just ultra high" frequency ollowing
Table shows the performance criteria for different media. Fiber Optic media starts with the "cheap" "plastic" fiber (large core, easy to manufacture) and pefformance grows with the "glass" fibers. The utmost media is the Single-mode fiber, with nearly "unlimited bandwith".
Fiber Optic is not only being used by the classic Telecoms, but also by new service providers, e.g. former power companies and railway companies, who are using their infrastructure (low costs) to compete with the Telcos. Computer networks (Local area networks) today are based on fiber optic backbones only, while the "floor cabeling" still uses copper cable. But with increasing datarates fiber to the desk is no longer utopia. Control and communication within any transportation media (ship, train, airplanes) are most often fiber based, and nearly any aotomobile manufacturer is looking to integrate fiber optic rings into their future car-concepts. (Reasons: interference free, leight-weight !)
Fiber optic transmission started in the 1970-1980 with multimode fibers. Today the most popular, because "upgradeable (nearly unlimited bandwith)" fiber is the SM-fiber used with SM-lasers (1310 / 1550 nm). Since a few years the maket for plastic optical fiber is rising due to most interesting new applications, even highest bitrates over small distances ( a few meter only: e.g. helmets for pilots (air-force).
