2. INTRODUCTION
• Human Resource Management(HRM) as the name
speaks for itself, HRM is personnel or people
management. It manages people in an organization(
employees) in a way that all their actions and plans
contributes towards maximizing performance efficiency
in order to meet the set objectives and goals of the
employer.
• In short, we can say that HRM is the process of selecting
employees, providing proper orientation and induction,
imparting proper training and developing skills.
• HRM includes a wide scope that not only consists of the
listed roles but also includes employee assessment like
performance appraisal, facilitating proper compensation
and benefits, encouragement, maintaining proper
relations with labor and with trade unions, and taking
care of employee safety, welfare and health by
complying with labor laws of the state or country
concerned.(Tutorialspoint)
3. REFLECTION
ON CHOICE
(WHY HR?)
• As a person with keen interests in human psychology
and keeping in mind the future needs and requirements
of HR Professionals in almost all the sectors of business,
I decided to pursue HRMT Post Baccalaureate Program
from this University.
• HRM covers more aspects than any other professional
career. Being an HR professional deals with majority of
the roles in an organization and not just being limited to
selecting and recruiting people but to deal with their
personal as well as common organizational needs, which
in turn is a challenging and an interesting task.
• And looking at the multicultural environment of the
firms and with increasing competition with every minute
there is a need of an HR professional to channelize the
organization's activities effectively and efficiently in
accordance with its dynamic and different employee's
goals.
4. Imagine that you are giving a
presentation to a new student who
is interested in HR as a career.Your
job is to excite the students about
pursuing a career within Human
Resources.
• Now one question that
comes in your mind is why
HRM?
• Among a wide choices of
career in present day why
should you pursue HRM
only?
• Let's discuss more about
HRM and its scope.
5. LET'S START WITH SOME FIGURES!
According to Bloomberg BNA’s
HR Department Benchmarks and
Analysis report, the rule-of-thumb
ratio is 1.4 full-time HR staff per
100 employees. This ratio is at an
all-time high, and in sharp contrast
to the marked drops we have seen
in recent years.(Axios HR , 2021)
In 2015, this ratio was 1.1 full-time
HR staff per 100 employees (Axios
HR , 2021).This increase ratio
trend to follow in future.
6. HR IN
DEMAMD
45% of business owners spend 1 day per week or more on
HR administration.(Daily Advisor, 2019)
Industry research also shows that owners and executives
in smaller organizations spend as much as 12 hours every
week on workforce administration.(DailyAdvisor, 2019)
Demand for recruiting professionals has jumped by 63%
since 2016, and we expect that trend to
continue. (LinkedIn)
Organizations that invest in a strong candidate experience
improve their quality of new hires by 70%.
(Glassdoor,2017)
7. JOB
DIVERSITY /
SALARY
RANGE
• HRM provides more job options than any other profession. There
are an average more than 12 jobs specifications that a person can
pursue in HRM in comparison to any other profession.
• Not to forget about the wide salary range provided by this
profession may stand from CA$ 50,000 per year to CA$96,000 per
year with a median at CA$71,000 per year.(Payscale,2021)
• An entry-level Human Resources (HR) Manager with less than 1
year experience can expect to earn an average total compensation
(includes tips, bonus, and overtime pay) of C$52,918 based on 48
salaries. An early career Human Resources (HR) Manager with 1-4
years of experience earns an average total compensation of
C$60,425 based on 903 salaries. A mid-career Human Resources
(HR) Manager with 5-9 years of experience earns an average total
compensation of C$72,043 based on 1,103 salaries. An experienced
Human Resources (HR) Manager with 10-19 years of experience
earns an average total compensation of C$78,140 based on 1,159
salaries. In their late career (20 years and higher), employees earn
an average total compensation of C$82,156.(Payscale,2021)
8. • Demand for human resources professionals is, on average, higher than
the national job growth average for all other professions. The BLS reports
that HR jobs opportunities should be best in the management of companies
and enterprises.
