10 tips to stay healthy in the summer
The scorching summer heat brings many ailments like heat stroke,
sunburn, dehydration, headache, heat rash, etc. To reduce the risk of
summer ailments, it is important to stay healthy.
Here are some tips to stay healthy in the
summer.
1. Eat healthy and light meals
Eat wholesome, light meals all summer long. Avoid fatty, heavy
meals that are high in simple carbohydrates and extra fat because
they make you feel hotter. Choose seasonal, fresh produce with a
high water content, such as yoghurt, cucumbers, tomatoes, citrus
fruits, and watermelon, among other items.
2. Drink lots of water
You can become dehydrated in the sweltering summer months from
extreme heat and sweat. By consuming coconut water, iced tea, and
fresh fruit juice, you can keep your body hydrated. Bring a water
bottle with you as you leave the house. If you exercise, you should
also hydrate your body after each set.
3. Protect yourself from the sun
There are numerous health issues brought on by the intense heat.
Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30, 40, or 50 depending on your skin
type to maintain healthy skin and prevent sunburns, and wear
sunglasses to shield your eyes from the sun's harsh rays when
outside [two].
4. Get a good rest
The summer months are lengthy and exhausting. You must get
enough sleep in order to avoid getting tired. Get 7 to 9 hours of sleep
every night on a regular basis because getting less sleep might make
you feel run down and fatigued.
5. Limit the consumption of
alcohol and caffeine
Your body can become dehydrated by drinking alcohol, caffeinated
beverages like tea and coffee, and carbonated drinks. During the hot
months, limit your intake of alcohol and caffeinated beverages. To
keep your body cool and hydrated, choose instead for reviving
mocktails like mango and banana smoothie and lychee pineapple
smoothie.
6. Avoid eating out
In the summer, stay away from eating from roadside booths because
the food may be contaminated and cause foodborne illness. Because
germs tend to reproduce more quickly in warm conditions,
foodborne diseases tend to rise in the summer.
7. Take nutritional supplements
Don't forget to take the nutritional supplements your doctor
has given because they'll assist maintain your body healthy
and ward off many ailments.
8. Exercise
Summertime exercise can be uncomfortable due to the
intense heat and perspiration. To avoid overexposure to the
sun, try to exercise in the morning. Plan your cycling, walking,
or jogging activities for the morning or evening when the
sun's rays won't be as hard on your skin.
9. Fill up on berries
Strong antioxidants found in berries including strawberries,
blueberries, and blackberries support skin health, strengthen
the immune system, and combat a variety of ailments.
10. Practice good hygiene
During the summer, it's crucial to maintain excellent hygiene
practises include routine hand washing, daily showering,
washing your face, and washing your bedding and pillows.
