10 Steps for MARKETING PLAN
Before creating a marketing plan, design your buyer
persona. Buyer persona is a Personality matching your
target customer. Common interests, type of profession,
lifestyle, spending habits, cultural values etc., are defined in
a buyer persona.
A buyer persona helps to give your sales team a clear idea of
which type of customers they are supposed to approach.
Your product is not for everyone in the market. Identify
your niche and pitch your product there.
IDENTIFY YOUR MAKETING TYPE
As said earlier, your product is not for
every customer type. Similarly every
marketing type is not applicable for
your business. Identify which type of
marketing you need to adapt.
ONLINE PRESENCE – WEBSITE & SOCIAL MEDIA
ACCOUNT
Whatever type of business you are in, an interactive
website is a must. A website is your virtual office,
where you inform your customers about the
products/services you offer. Design a simple, mobile
friendly website which loads faster.
Have a Social Media account and post
everything that makes your customer
identify your business. Use good
graphics and appealing content. Do not
post messy written contents.
Remember to have regular online
presence with atleast 3 posts in a week.
ADVERTISING EXPERTISE
Visuals always make a greater impact. You must explain your
product / service to your customer in unique ways. Whether
you chose Video Ads, Audio Ads or Picture ads – the content
you mention and the graphics you display in the
advertisement will decide the success of your advertising.
Few examples are here
We will present unique types of advertising in our upcoming PPTs.
You cannot operate your business in vacuum. There is
always competition in the market with businesses
offering the same product / service like yours.
Watch out for the offers they make and different ways
of customer acquisition strategies they adapt. Study
your competitor and upgrade your customer
acquisition strategies.
MARKETING OBJECTIVES
What is your goal behind creating a
marketing plan?? Increase the number of
sales, increase followers, reach more
audience etc.
Mention your Goals clearly & make them
SMART
SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable,
Relevant/Realistic, & Time Bound
To attract more customers, build quality relationships.
According to McKinsey, “70% of buying experiences are
based on how the customer feels they are being treated.”
First, know your ideal customers’ pain points. Conduct in-
depth meetings with sales.
Avoid recruiting a large sales team
to grow a scalable sales model.
“Your most valuable channel will
be the one that brings you the
cheapest users who are most likely
to succeed.”
Create a Marketing Budget based
on the types of marketing you have
chosen, duration of your
marketing, expected outcome etc.
Spend wisely and generate ROI.
REVIEW AND ADJUST
The final step in any plan is to monitor
and evaluate progress. If you're not
achieving the results you would like,
go back a few stages in the plan and
make any tweaks you feel are
necessary.
