The document discusses the Helsinki Region Infoshare project, which aims to create a web service that allows users to freely access and reuse significant amounts of open public data from the Helsinki region municipalities. A beta version of the service will launch in early 2011, with the goal of having most relevant Helsinki region data accessible by 2012. The project aims to support the region's vision of being a dynamic center of innovation by facilitating cooperation, research, and efficient operations through open data sharing.

As more and more chapters develop and implement their GLAM outreach programs, it is time to talk about evaluation again. An earlier workshop on this topic was held at Wikimania 2013 in order to reach a shared vision of what may be achieved by different types of GLAM outreach activities. The results have been documented on the Outreach Wiki. In parallel, the WMF Programme Evaluation team has produced several evaluation reports about programs including one on GLAM content release partnerships, and the GLAM-wiki Toolset Project coordinated by the Europeana Foundation and supported by Wikimedia Netherlands, Wikimedia France, Wikimedia UK, and Wikimedia CH has produced a Report on requirements for usage and reuse statistics for GLAM content. As we work as a community to further develop evaluation strategies and systematic measures we invite community members engaged in GLAM outreach activities to take part in this strategy workshop.

Digital heritage tools in Ireland - a review (Sharon Webb & Aileen O'Carroll)dri_ireland
Presented at Cultural Heritage, Creative Tools & Archives, National Museum of Denmark, Copenhagen (26-27 June 2013)
This paper reviews the user tools currently in use by Irish Cultural Heritage organisations. We highlight that key challenges for those providing user tools are associated with issues of preservation and sustainability of digital tools, and argue that for cultural heritage organisations the provision of digital tools is as important as providing access to the digital content stored, harvested and aggregated. This review draws on qualitative interviews carried out by the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) in order to inform requirements specifications, policy statements, user guidelines and best practices.
I've just bumped into this presentation. We made it to Rochdale Council's Telematics Working Party a long, long time ago.
Basically, it was a pitch for the support and resources to get all the libraries networked and active online. It took us another five years to finish the job (by which networked CD-ROMs were a distant memory!).
Although bits of this sound technically-archaic the fundamental principles still hold water.
