The document discusses how God provides our daily bread through making the earth fruitful and enabling us to work, and that we should not be greedy or worry about the future but live contentedly. It also discusses that we should share with those unable to work and include them in our prayers. We should not love in words only but with actions by sharing what we have. The document also discusses the meaning of forgiving others in the Lord's Prayer, confessing our sins, asking God for forgiveness, and showing our belief in God's forgiveness of us by forgiving others.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Christians must be like Christ who speaks with authority and are able to exorcise evil within our hearts and society.

Series jesus is -______ - message – part 4 - jesus is your template – su...LifePointe Church
This message is Part 4 in Pastor Chuck Bernal's series, "JESUS is _____________". The message is titled, "JESUS is your Template". In this message Pastor Chuck talks about how Jesus is our example and pattern for living and the four specific ways we are called to "be like Jesus" in our everyday lives. By looking at four different scenes from the life of Christ, we see how we are to live as His followers in 2016. This message was delivered at LifePointe Church on Sunday, March 13, 2016.
This document discusses the meaning and significance of saying "Amen." It can be summarized in 3 sentences:
When we say "Amen," we are (1) attaining an understanding of what is being affirmed, (2) affirming that what was said is true, and (3) agreeing to take action based on what we understand and affirm. Saying "Amen" means fully comprehending, believing in, and committing to follow God and his word.
God wants us to pray. The document discusses different aspects of prayer: praising God, repenting, asking God for our needs, and yielding to God's will. It notes that prayer is not about getting what we desire, since our desires can be sinful or misguided, but rather about changing our "wanter" or wants to align with God's will. Even if a desire seems good, it should be subordinate to God's will. We must pray for understanding, wisdom, and discernment so that our sinful nature does not lead us astray or cause us to fall into temptation. We are called to watch and pray constantly so that we do not fall into the enemy's traps.

The document discusses the early Christian debate around whether Gentile believers needed to follow the Law of Moses. Some Jewish Christians thought Gentiles must be circumcised and follow Mosaic law to be saved. At a church council, the apostles declared Gentiles were not obligated to follow the Law, only to abstain from idolatry, sexual immorality, eating meat sacrificed to idols, and consuming blood. The document also examines whether Christians must follow other Old Testament commands like the Sabbath. It concludes the Sabbath and Mosaic law were commands specifically for Israel, and Christians are not obligated to observe them.
God's Blueprint for Marriage: Yes I Love You2Daniel Howell
The document contains promises from a spouse to their partner to: 1) control their temper and respond with soft answers instead of harsh words; 2) not keep track of their partner's mistakes; and 3) work to make their home welcoming to Christ. The spouse also promises to never divorce unless adultery occurs, look for the best in their partner, and do what is necessary to ensure they and their partner reach heaven. The promises are grounded in passages from the Bible about love, marriage, and faith.
The document discusses pressing on spiritually towards the goals and calling that God has set. It makes three key points:
1. None of us have fully attained our spiritual goals, so we must continue pressing onwards to what God has called us to.
2. The prize we press towards is the upward call of God. Our focus and citizenship should be on heavenly, not earthly, things.
3. True spiritual growth comes through training ourselves in godliness, such as through spiritual disciplines, not just trying harder. We should gauge growth by love for God and people, not superficial measures.
This document discusses the concept of "living above the line" or by faith through believing four spiritual truths: 1) Jesus died and rose again, 2) I died and rose again with Jesus, 3) I am now a new creation in Jesus, and 4) Jesus is in me and I am in Him. It emphasizes that what one believes will determine how they live and examines the Bible passage of 2 Corinthians 5:17 that says if one is in Christ they are a new creation. It explores what it truly means to believe one is a new creation in Jesus and how that belief can help overcome sin.
The document discusses how to be free from condemnation. It begins by referencing scripture from Romans 8:1 that says there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. It then exposes six common lies of condemnation, such as thinking Jesus can't use you if you have weaknesses or that your past mistakes disqualify you. The rest of the document provides seven steps to be free from condemnation, such as distinguishing conviction from the devil versus God, setting your mind on what the Spirit desires, and living life on God's terms through pursuing intimacy with Him. It encourages living with joy as the serious work of heaven.
Act 20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive."
The document discusses why modern Christianity has declined in confidence in God during times of suffering. It suggests that instead of truly honoring God, Christians try to manage God into something comfortable and understand problems more than finding Christ in them. It warns that God will act like a lion against those who turn to other things instead of earnestly seeking Him during times of testing.
This message is Part 6 of the series “The Heart Of LifePointe Church” by Pastor Chuck Bernal. In this message Pastor Chuck talks about the importance of church membership and what it means to be a member of the LifePointe Church family - the 6 G's (Grace, Growth, Group, Gifts, Giving, Going). The message was delivered at LifePointe Church on Sunday, September 4, 2016.
The document discusses heaven and the options for getting there. It summarizes that:
1) There are two options - heaven (the desirable way) or hell (the undesirable way).
2) People have the power to decide which route to take by choosing to accept Jesus Christ or not.
3) The Bible says there is only one way to heaven - through accepting Jesus Christ. Other routes are disputed but the Bible is the only completely accurate answer.
4) People must decide during their lifetime on earth - it will be too late after death. The Bible says "now is the accepted time" to choose the route to heaven.
This document discusses the importance of an individual's mission from God to share the gospel with others. It makes several key points:
1) Jesus calls all Christians to continue his mission on Earth of preaching the gospel and making disciples. Fulfilling this mission is mandatory for obedience.
2) For many people, a Christian individual may be the only exposure they have to the gospel. It is their mission to share Jesus with them.
3) An individual's mission has eternal significance, as the eternal destiny of those they witness to depends on their efforts. Their mission gives life ultimate meaning.
The document discusses the Gospel of Jesus Christ and salvation through faith alone. It explains that the Gospel is God's power to save all who believe, both Jews and Gentiles. It emphasizes that faith without works is dead, and that true faith will be demonstrated through obedience to God and love for others.
This document discusses the benefits of being part of a local church congregation. It outlines three main benefits: 1) Worship gives encouragement as Christians support and stimulate one another, 2) Worship gives enjoyment, as gathering with others is a privilege and blessing, not a burden, 3) Worship gives endurance, as enduring in the Christian faith requires drawing near to God with others and looking to Jesus as an example of enduring. The local church is where Christians can find these benefits of encouragement, enjoyment, and endurance to help them in their faith.
This document discusses themes of knowing that God loves us, where we are going after death, and how to live as Christians. It provides biblical passages that discuss God's great love for humanity despite our sins, the hope we have in an eternal home in heaven with God, and how to live through reading scripture, prayer, and encouraging one another. The overall message is finding purpose, direction and strength through understanding God's love and promises in the Bible.
The document is a collection of Bible verses and passages focused on key aspects of Christianity. It discusses following Christ over Christians, looking to Jesus as the author and finisher of faith, following Jesus, loving one another, forgiveness, faith, joy, holiness, humility, suffering, the cost of discipleship, using words wisely, prayer, church attendance, works, serving others, wisdom, enduring criticism, God dwelling within believers, and being fully committed to Christ above all else. The overall message is about growing in faith and becoming like Christ.
Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Session 1 What Is Identity And Why Is It So Foundational To Life Changereachtim
This document discusses where Christians should get their identity from. It begins by looking at passages in 2 Corinthians and Ephesians that say a believer's identity is found in Christ as a new creation. Other potential sources of identity like appearance, occupation, roles, and friends are incomplete. The document argues that identity determines behavior, so life change must start with believing who God says we are in Christ. Ephesians 2 is examined, showing that through faith in Christ, believers have been brought near to God, made fellow citizens with Him, and are being built together into a dwelling where God lives by His Spirit.
The document provides an overview of the church at Ephesus based on Revelation 2:1-7. It discusses the church's reputation for works and endurance but notes they had lost their love. Jesus tells them to remember, repent, and repeat their first works of love or their lampstand will be removed. If they overcome without falling from love for Jesus, they will be granted to eat from the tree of life in paradise.
This sermon discusses how true Christians no longer desire to sin after being born again by the Holy Spirit. It argues that while Christians can choose to sin, sin no longer has power over them. It encourages believers to walk in obedience to God in order to experience blessing and have confidence in their salvation.
The document provides an in-depth discussion of the doctrine of justification according to Christianity. It discusses that Jesus knew no sin and committed no sin or deceit. It explains that for our sake, God made Jesus to be sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. It describes how God charges our sins to Jesus' account and his righteousness to our account, so that through faith in Christ we are seen as righteous in God's sight.
The document discusses the early Christian debate around whether Gentile believers needed to follow the Law of Moses. It explains that for our sake, God made Jesus to be sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. It describes how God charges our sins to Jesus' account and his righteousness to our account, so that through faith in Christ we are seen as righteous in God's sight.
1. We must accept God's sacrifice for our sins through Jesus. Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for all.
2. We must obey God's commands by keeping His word. Those who claim to know God but do not obey His commands are liars. True obedience comes through walking as Jesus walked.
3. We must walk as Jesus walked through obedience to God. Jesus is our example in living a sinless life through perfect obedience to the Father. We overcome sin by obeying God's word just as Jesus obeyed.
The document discusses sin and holiness based on 1 John 1:5-2:2. It outlines three claims of holiness that are false, and three correct attitudes. The false claims are that we have fellowship with God while walking in darkness, that we bear no guilt of sin, and that we have not sinned. The correct attitudes are to walk in the light as God is in the light, confess our sins, and realize we are obligated to keep God's law, with Jesus as our advocate when we sin.
The document discusses the blessings and responsibilities of living according to the gospel. It says that living the gospel means living a life of continuous repentance and faith by preaching the gospel to yourself daily. True repentance deals with sins and their underlying causes, while false repentance only seeks temporary relief. The gospel transforms us from being spiritually dead, enslaved to sin, and under God's wrath, to being chosen, forgiven, and made alive in Christ.
Repentance is the first step in beginning a walk with God and is vital to maintaining that relationship. Repentance involves acknowledging one's sins and faults, resolving not to repeat offenses, and attempting to live according to God's teachings. It requires admitting guilt, making amends, and living a life that pleases God. While humans often justify sins based on circumstances, the Bible teaches that God does not condone sin in any form. True repentance involves understanding what displeases God, acknowledging one's sinful nature, repenting of sins, and seeking to live righteously according to God's will. Repentance is fundamental to having a relationship with God and finding redemption through faith in Jesus Christ.
Repentance is the first step in beginning a walk with God and is vital to maintaining that relationship. Repentance requires acknowledging one's sins and faults, resolving not to repeat offenses, and attempting to live according to God's teachings. It includes admitting guilt, making amends, and following God's word. While humans often justify sins, true repentance requires recognizing actions that displease God and refraining from such sins to restore our relationship with Him. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice, but one must confess and renounce sins to find mercy.
1) The document discusses what our purpose and ambition should be based on scripture. It says our ambition on earth should be to please God and avoid his wrath and judgment after death.
2) It explains that sin brings God's punishment of death, and discusses how people wrongly try to pay for their sins through good works, obeying commandments, prayers, and sacrifices, rather than accepting God's solution.
3) God's solution is that Jesus, being sinless, took our sins and died in our place so we can be forgiven and made righteous through faith in him. The response required is to repent, which means turning from sin and trusting in Jesus.
The document is a sermon from the Rossville Church discussing several biblical passages about bearing with one another, pleasing God rather than ourselves, and following Christ's example of humility and service. It encourages believers to accept one another as Christ accepts us, despite our weaknesses, and to gain patience and comfort from examples of faith in the Old Testament. It also contains an invitation to accept Christ and explains the meaning of water baptism.
This document discusses how Jesus Christ serves as our advocate and the propitiation for our sins. It notes that if we sin, we have an advocate in Jesus, who turned God's righteous anger into favor through his sacrifice. It emphasizes the importance of keeping God's commandments and walking as Jesus walked in order to know that we abide in him.
The document contains summaries of the readings for the 3rd Sunday of Easter B:
1) The Acts reading recounts Peter's sermon about Jesus after the resurrection, contrasting how people denied and killed him but God glorified and raised him. Peter calls the listeners to repentance.
2) The 1 John reading centers on not sinning and knowing God through keeping his commandments. It also mentions Jesus as an advocate for sinners.
3) The Gospel reading describes Jesus appearing to the disciples in Jerusalem to prove he is real. He eats fish and opens their minds to understand the scriptures, saying the Messiah was prophesied to suffer, rise, and have repentance preached
The document discusses both the good news and bad news of Christianity. The bad news is that all humans are sinners deserving of hell due to original sin and our own sinful nature and actions. The good news is that God loves humanity and sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so that through faith in him we may be forgiven and granted eternal life. Both the bad news of our sinfulness and the good news of salvation through Jesus are necessary to present the full message and hope of Christianity.
Jesus explains to Nicodemus that in order to be saved, one must be "born again" through faith in Jesus. All humans are sinners deserving of death, but God provided salvation through Jesus' death and resurrection. To receive salvation, one must acknowledge they are a sinner, believe that Jesus died for their sins, and commit their life to following Jesus through repentance, faith, and baptism. Accepting this free gift of salvation results in eternal life with God.
This document discusses the order of sin, confession, and forgiveness. It argues that confession does not need to come before forgiveness for Christians, as Jesus already paid for all sins. It explores two passages commonly used to suggest confession is needed for forgiveness, and explains they were written for different contexts under the Old Covenant. The document aims to clear up confusion on this topic by examining the context and meaning of key verses like 1 John 1:9, showing Christians are already fully forgiven and confession instead aids their transformation.
This document provides commentary on several passages from Romans and discusses the difference between being carnally minded versus spiritually minded. It notes that believers will still struggle with sin due to their sin nature, but they are not condemned because they are united with Christ. Unbelievers live according to their sinful nature and have their minds set on fulfilling fleshly desires, whereas believers desire to please God and have their minds set on spiritual things.
1) We are often deceived by our own biases and flawed perceptions of reality. We deny truths we don't want to face and are rarely objective.
2) The Bible warns that the human heart is deceitful and that we can deceive ourselves into thinking we are good or righteous through our own works instead of faith in Jesus Christ.
3) Specific ways the document outlines we can deceive ourselves include thinking we are not accountable for our actions, that we are good enough on our own, or that we can save ourselves through works instead of grace. True salvation comes only through faith in Christ.
1) Elisha prophesied that food prices in Samaria would return to normal by the next day, despite a famine.
2) Four leprous men at the gate of Samaria decided to seek food from the camp of the Syrian army besieging the city, finding it abandoned with food and supplies left behind.
3) The men informed the king of Israel about the empty Syrian camp, fulfilling Elisha's prophecy as the people of Samaria could now leave the city to gather supplies, returning food prices to normal. The lord who doubted Elisha's prophecy was trampled to death at the city gate as predicted.
1. The document is a sermon discussing 2 Peter 2 and warning about people who ignore God's commands and lead others astray for their own desires.
2. It discusses false teachers who promise freedom from rules but instead lead people into bondage to sinful desires and pleasures.
3. The sermon warns that those who know God's truth but choose to return to sinful ways will find themselves in an even worse situation than before they knew the truth.
1. Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army, was afflicted with leprosy. A young Israelite servant girl suggested he visit the prophet Elisha in Israel to be healed.
2. Elisha instructed Naaman to wash seven times in the Jordan River. Angry at first, Naaman followed the instruction and was healed of his leprosy.
3. Naaman wanted to repay Elisha, but Elisha refused payment. Later, Elisha's servant Gehazi lied to receive gifts from Naaman and was then afflicted with leprosy as punishment.
This document contains excerpts from the Bible and commentary on several passages. It discusses false prophets and teachers who bring destructive heresies and reject Jesus. It warns that many people will follow these ways and that God will condemn those who do not believe the truth. The document also mentions that the misdeeds of a corrupt world will trouble righteous people and that sinners and corrupt people in the church will face punishment and perish in their own corruption. It encourages remembering leaders who have taught God's word.
This document is the bulletin from Gospel Baptist Tabernacle providing information about their church services and location. It includes several Bible verses encouraging believers to diligently follow God with their whole heart through obeying His word and teachings. The pastor intends to continue reminding the congregation of these teachings so they will remember and practice them even after he is gone, as following the teachings is how they are remembered and passed on to others. The document emphasizes the importance of believers having open ears to hear God's word preached through the Holy Spirit.
This document contains the text of a sermon given by a pastor. The sermon discusses 2 Peter 1:5-10, which talks about adding virtues like faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, kindness, and love to one's life. It encourages believers to diligently pursue these qualities through worship, prayer, and study rather than waiting for them to come passively. It warns that lacking these virtues leads to spiritual blindness and barrenness, and urges believers to make their salvation sure by cultivating these traits in their daily lives.
This document contains a series of passages from the Bible discussing various topics. It begins with details about a church in Rossville, GA and includes passages about a widow with two sons in debt and on the verge of being enslaved to pay off debts, and how the prophet Elisha helped her. It also discusses a wealthy woman in Shunem who showed hospitality to Elisha, even building him a private room in her home, and how Elisha blessed her with a child later in life as she and her husband were already old. The document emphasizes themes of hospitality, generosity, contentment, and God providing for those who have faith in Him.
This document appears to be notes from a sermon or bible study. It includes biblical passages from 2 Peter 1, definitions of biblical terms like "grace" and "peace", and commentary on living a virtuous life through faith and knowledge of God. The notes encourage developing a gracious heart through divine influence and escaping the corruption of the world by submitting to God's goodness.
1. The kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom joined forces to attack Moab but ran out of water in the wilderness. They called upon the prophet Elisha for help.
2. Elisha told them God would fill the valley with water and also deliver the Moabites into their hands. They dug ditches as instructed and God provided water, though there was no wind or rain.
3. The next morning, the Moabites saw the water across from them as red as blood, assuming their enemies had killed each other. When they went to plunder the camp, the Israelite army defeated them soundly as God had promised.
The document is a sermon about virtues in women based on passages from Proverbs 31. It discusses the virtues of a virtuous woman, including that she works hard and takes care of her household and family, is generous to those in need, and speaks with wisdom. It notes that true virtue is valuable and scarce, and that a virtuous person works diligently rather than being lazy. It concludes by saying virtue should be desired in all people, not just women, and that practicing good virtues requires hard work beyond just believing them.
The document contains passages from the Bible discussing King Jehoram of Israel, Elisha the prophet, and the use of music in worship. It summarizes that King Jehoram went to war against Moab but there was no water for his army, so he consulted Elisha for help. Elisha told the king to bring a minstrel to play music, and when he did the hand of God came upon Elisha and he was able to provide water for the army. Jehoshaphat was king of Judah for 25 years and largely followed the righteous ways of his father, King Asa. However, he did not fully remove the pagan high places from the land. It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
2. 1 John 2 1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not . And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous: 2 And He is the Propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His Commandments.
3. 1a My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. All that God has given John to write is to help us avoid the traps of devils. Sin destroys : lives, homes, reputations, and ministries. John told us in the first chapter that we all sin and that we should be quick to come to the Lord in repentance.
4. Some might think that telling us that we all do sin would open the door for more sinning. But that is not God's intent , nor will it be the case for sincere Christians. The gospel, when rightly understood and received, sets the heart against all sin, and stops the allowed practice of it; at the same time it gives blessed relief to the wounded consciences of those who have sinned. Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.
5. Anyone who desires to sin, who wakes up every morning hoping to get a chance to sin that day, Who is looking for an excuse to sin more, Who resents and resists the Holy Word of God, Needs to be born again. The Apostle Paul wrote these words: Romans 7 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. To struggle with sin is not the same thing.
6. 1 John 2 1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous: When we do sin, Be quick to repent. Heed the pricking of God's Holy Spirit. Humble self and call on God.
7. When we do sin, Jesus , the Christ, the Righteous One intercedes for us with the Father. Luke 22 31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee , that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
8. Jesus prayed for Peter, knowing that Peter would deny His Lord three times that very night. His prayer was not to prevent Peter's failure. Jesus' prayer was for Peter's faith to remain with him, and he would turn back to the Lord. Peter would become the leader of the disciples, after he had sinned and returned forgiven . Jesus prays for us , just as He did for Peter.
9. 2 And He is the Propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Strong's defines propitiation as expiator . http:// www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ expiate 2 a : to extinguish the guilt incurred by;
10. Jesus shed His Blood to extinguish our guilt . What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the Blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.
11. 3 And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His Commandments. Who struggles with doubt that they have been truly born again? Those who regularly walk in sin . We can rest in confidence that we know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, When we love His Commandments and walk in them.
12. 1 John 5 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His Commandments: and His Command-ments are not grievous ( burdensome) . We who love God do not find it a burden to live our lives His Way . We have set our affection on the things of God, and not on the things of this world.
