18. Does the Father need an intercessor to calm His anger so Hi won’t destroy his creatures? “ That time you will ask in my name, and I do not say that I will ask the Father on your behalf. For the Father himself loves you ” John, 16:26-27 It is us, not the Father, who need an Advocate to intercede for us. OUR ADVOCATE
19. OUR ADVOCATE The term parakletos , translated “advocate” in 1 John 2, has been translated differently; for example, “comforter,” “helper,” “advocate,” “mediator,” or “intercessor” . It is a person who is called to the side of someone else and who stands up for someone else. A parakletos can be a person who helps a friend. In the Gospel of John the Holy Spirit is the helper. In the first Epistle of John, Jesus is the helper and intercessor. If the Father loves us, why do we need a advocate?

If you are brought into trial, if you are overcome and do wrong, repent sincerely before God, but do not despair. Try again, laying hold more firmly of the merits and strength of Christ. When sinful man has no righteousness of his own to rely upon, Christ becomes his righteousness. When he feels that he has no strength, Jesus offers to put his arm beneath him. The sinner may then indeed say, Christ died for me, and his blood cleanseth me from all sin. I know in whom I have believed; from him I derive strength for the daily toils and trials of life and to resist the strong temptations of Satan” E.G.W. (Review and Herald, May 4, 1876)
