This document summarizes child well-being indicators in Egypt from 2000-2010 based on surveys and administrative data. It finds improvements in infant mortality and immunization rates but stagnation or worsening of malnutrition, adolescent obesity, poverty, and youth unemployment. Regional disparities persist with poorer outcomes in Upper Egypt and rural areas. The document describes UNICEF initiatives to analyze subnational data through governorate equity profiles and a survey on child poverty in slums. The profiles analyze existing surveys to show disparities across governorates in indicators like antenatal care and births attended by skilled health personnel. This work aims to better understand inequalities within Egypt.

Since independence in 1991, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has made steady progress in ensuring political
stability and economic growth in a multiethnic state. Two decades on, the country is
now fi rmly placed as a middle income country, and a candidate for membership in the European Union.
These gains have indeed had a positive impact on the lives of most children in the country.
However, not all children have benefited equally.
The Reproductive Health Bills, popularly known as the RH Bills, are legislative bills aiming to guarantee universal access to reproductive health care services, supplies and information in the Philippines. There are presently six bills with the same goals, the most prominent of which is House Bill 96 but they are all referred to in the country as "the RH Bill" as they have the common purpose of promoting reproductive health, responsible parenthood and informed choice in conformity with internationally recognized human rights standards. The contentious aspect of the bill which has spawned a national debate is its key proposal that the government funds and undertakes widespread distribution of family planning devices such as oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) and IUDs, dissemination of information on their use, and enforcement of their provision in all health care centers and private companies, as a way of controlling the population of the Philippines. The bill is based on the premise that present population growth impedes economic development and exacerbates poverty.

statistics are from 2008. Most sources report national averages, and data

13. Survey on child multidimensional poverty in

Study started in late 2011, aiming to better understand
inequalities in urban areas, and in particular poverty
and vulnerabilities of children living in slums and
unplanned areas.
Ongoing research, based on a household survey
designed specifically to collect data on child
multimensional poverty and wellbeing
6000 households (14000 children) in 4 major Egypt’s
cities (Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said and Sohag)
Preliminary results: early June
