Attend
To go officially and usually, regularly to a
place.

To go to an event, place, etc.
Example:
     I hope to attend the meeting.
Carry

To transport or take something
from one place to another.
Examples
Would you like me to carry your bag for
you?
She carried her tired child upstairs to
bed.
These books are too heavy for me to
carry.
Close
To (cause something to) change from
being open to not being open.
Examples
Could you close the door/window
please?
Close your eyes - I've got a surprise
for you.
Drive

To move or travel on land in a motor
vehicle, especially as the person
controlling the vehicle's movement.
Examples
I'm learning to drive.
"Are you going by train?" "No, I'm
driving."
She drives a red sports car.
Find
To discover, especially where a thing
or person is, either unexpectedly or
by searching, or to discover where to
get or how to achieve something.
Examples
I couldn't find Andrew's telephone
number.
You'll find the knives and forks in the
kitchen
Go
To travel or move to another place.
We don't go to the cinema very
often these days.
Wouldn't it be quicker to go by
train?
Does this train go to Newcastle?
RUN

To move along, faster than
walking, by taking quick steps in
which each foot is lifted before
the next foot touches the ground.
Examples
 
I can run a mile in 5 minutes.
The sheep ran away.
I will run for the marathon this year.
OPEN
Not closed or fastened

Examples: 
Open the door/window.
You left your wallet open.
PLAY
When you play, especially as a child,
you spend time doing an enjoyable
and/or entertaining activity.
 
Examples
The children spent the afternoon
playing in the garden.
My daughter used to play with the kids
next door.
PUT
To move something or someone
into the stated place, position or
direction
 
Examples
Where have you put the keys?
He put salt into the sugar bowl by
mistake.
She put her bag on the table.
Put the trash right where it belongs, in a
trash-can.
RAIN
Drops of water from clouds.
 
Come inside out of the rain.
I think it is about to start to
rain.
 
Say
To pronounce words or sounds,
to express a thought, opinion, or
suggestion, or to state a fact or
instruction
Examples
Ben never forgets to say "Please" and
"Thank you".
How do you say 'paralelepipedo' in English?
I'm sorry, what did you say?
What did they say about me?
See
To be conscious of what is around you by
using your eyes
 
Turn the light on so I can see.
"I can see you"
From the window we could see the
children playing in the yard.
Examples
SNOW
The small soft white pieces of ice
which sometimes fall from the sky
when it is cold, or the white layer on
the ground and other surfaces which
it forms.
Examples
Outside the snow began to fall.
Let's go and play in the snow.
It started to snow 2 hours ago.
SPELL (Video)

To form a word or words with the letters
in the correct order
"How do you spell 'receive'?" "R E C E I V E".
I think it's important that children should be
taught to spell (= how to form words with the
letters in the correct order).
SWIM
To move through water by moving the body
or parts of the body.
 
Examples
We spent the day on the beach but it
was too cold to go swimming.
Her ambition is to swim (across) the
English Channel.
I swam two miles this morning.
TAKE
To remove something, especially
without permission
 
Example:
     Do you need a pen right? Here's
     take mine, I have two of them.
WALK
To move along by putting one foot
in front of the other, allowing
each foot to touch the ground
before lifting the next
Examples
I walk home everyday.
A cat was walking along the top of
the fence.
He walks two kilometres to work
every morning.
Watch

To look at something for a period
of time, especially something that
is changing or moving.
 
Examples
I had dinner and watched TV for a
couple of hours.
He spent the entire afternoon
watching a cricket match.
Wear
To have clothing, jewellery, etc. on your
body.
 
Examples
Tracey is wearing a simple black dress.
What are you wearing to Caroline's wedding?
Some musicians don't like to wear rings when
they're playing.
He wears glasses for reading.
She wears very little makeup.
 
WRITE
 
TO MAKE MARKS WHICH REPRESENT LETTERS, WORDS
OR NUMBERS ON A SURFACE, SUCH AS PAPER OR A
COMPUTER SCREEN, USING A PEN, PENCIL OR
KEYBOARD, OR TO USE THIS METHOD TO RECORD
THOUGHTS, FACTS OR MESSAGES
Examples
Write (down) your ideas on a piece
of paper before you start.
When you fill in the form, please
write clearly/legibly in black ink.
