Military Family Appreciation BBQ Volunteer Opportunity on 1 & 2 Nov:
The Military Family Appreciation BBQ for the Troops event is quickly approaching and we need help. Following is a brief run down of
what is needed. I am asking that volunteers respond soonest if interested so we have some kind of idea how much help we can hope for.
I understand things come up and may have to decline at last minute but if you THINK you can and want to help please let me know.
1 Nov from 1800-2100 help with the Glo Run. We need at least 12 to help mark the 2 mile route with glow stuff, man water station,
man a detour blockade diverting traffic during the run, hand out glo sticks as participants arrive with canned food to donate, and much
more.
2 Nov from 0800 until 1600 we need help all or any part of the day with directing parking, handing out give away items, setting the
tables with table cloth and deco, serving fantastic BBQ prepared by 25 professional pit masters. We will have three serving lines going
at the same time with 10 servers on each line, bussing tables as folks finish eating, changing garbage can liners and disposing of garbage
in dumpsters, monitoring bounce houses and much more. We are expecting about 2000 people and truly need
lots of help. We figure about 60 positions but realistically will need 2-3 times that to cover the entire day so gather a bunch of your
friends and come join us for a lot of fun, good music and fantastic food-free!!! Another thought, request your units and neighbors also
donate some can goods for the local shelters. 1 Nov. the Junction City, Ogden and Manhattan food pantries will be at the Glo Run
collecting food for the holidays that many of our military Families will benefit from.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact Becky Willis at 785-239-4539/9435.
