The self-proclaimed leaders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions oppose the deployment of international police missions in eastern Ukraine and are preparing for staged local elections at Russia's direction. Meanwhile, Russia is increasing repression of Crimean Tatars in occupied Crimea and causing economic problems. At a Eurasian Economic Union meeting, members expressed discontent with artificial trade barriers within the organization. The document concludes that Russia continues attempts to bring Ukraine back into its sphere of influence through maintaining conflict, exhausting Ukraine's economy, and discrediting Ukraine internationally.

The causes of the crisis in Ukraine are mainly geopolitical and strategic. What is at stake is not, in fact, Ukraine's accession to the European Union because this has very little to offer in promoting the country's development. Ukraine only has to lose. Many industries will no longer operate or will be dominated by European multinationals and small farmers will be ruined. But what the United States intends through the incorporation of Ukraine to the European Union is, above all, allow NATO forces are stationed on the border of Russia. The most likely future scenario for the outcome of the political crisis in Ukraine is the division of the country, with the Crimea already incorporated into Russia and the transformation of eastern, central-eastern and southern Ukraine in an autonomous region of Kiev government if it is held the agreement of the European Union and Ukraine or occur its annexation to Russia if NATO forces are stationed in Ukraine. The civil war that has started in Ukraine can turn into a military conflict involving NATO forces and Russia to unpredictable consequences.
HOW UKRAINIAN AMBER IS ILLEGALLY TRANSPORTED TO POLANDsuzi smith
Raw amber, which is illegally mined in Ukraine, is unlawfully transported abroad. And it is successfully sold in Poland. These precious stones of organic origin are also popular in Russia and China.
The Volyn customs unit of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine said that people, in the majority of cases, have been hiding amber from customs control in their personal belongings. They are also using specially created storage units that are hidden in the frames of cars. These hiding places were previously taken apart.
According to information from the customs unit, amber that becomes the property of the state on the basis of a court decision is transferred to the “State Storage of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of Ukraine.”

The downgrade stems from the significant recent deterioration in the country’s business operating environment. This article gives more insight into the current situation in Ukraine and why their risk rating was downgraded.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Briefing on the Situation in the South-East
of Ukraine

2. Highlights over Situation in UkraineHighlights over Situation in Ukraine
Self-proclaimed leadership on the temporary
occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk
regions under the Kremlin “advising” was carrying
out to block Ukrainian initiatives regarding peaceful
conflict settlement, in particular the deployment of
OSCE police mission. So-called “DNR leader”
O.Zakharchenko stated that the presence of the armed
missions on the republic territory is unacceptable and
may lead to the repeating of “Yugoslav scenario”. “LNR”
leadership also expressed the opinion against the
deployment of any international armed formations.
In order to form the base for discrediting of above
mentioned initiative Russia suggests involving troops
federal service units of the national guard of Russia in
“safety and order promotion on the East of Ukraine like
OSCE armed police mission”. Preparation of the
appropriate appeal to OSCE authority was announced
by R.Khudiakov, the Committee member of RF State
Duma on international affairs.
3. Highlights over Situation in UkraineHighlights over Situation in Ukraine
Under the favorable conditions Putin’s regime makes
preparation for the organization of “local elections” on the temporary
occupied territories of the East of Ukraine.
In accordance with the decree of V.Surkov, RF President
assistant, the group of Russian political strategists and curators of
Donetsk terrorists leaders has been conducting preparatory
measures on organization in “DNR” preliminary voting – so-called
“primaries”.
The aim is the modeling of the full cycle of the election
process for provision of necessary result in case of adoption by the
Kremlin the decision on “local elections” conduct (one will check the
voting stations activity, the provision of safety precautions etc).
4. Highlights in the occupied territories of UkraineHighlights in the occupied territories of Ukraine
The illegal authority on the territory of occupied
Crimean peninsula continued repressions against
Crimean Tatars population.
Under the pretext of provision of “national security and
fight with extremism” in the Crimea, one has intensified
administrative police regime. N.Dzhelial, the first deputy
chief of Mejlis, has informed about the performed searches
in the houses of Crimean Tatars in Simferopol` and Alupka.
30 May, 2016, N.Poklonskaya, “Crimean Prosecutor”,
stated about the intentions to conduct monitoring of
broadcast channels on the territory of temporary occupied
peninsula, first of all those which are broadcasted from the
mainland of Ukraine.
The populist policy of self-proclaimed authority in the
Crimea causes the deterioration of social economical
situation on the peninsula. Despite the remarks of the
leaders of local authority bodies regarding the improvement
of standard of living, it is observed further population
poverty, especially social domain employees.
5. Relations inside the Eurasian Economic UnionRelations inside the Eurasian Economic Union
There were defined the definite failures of RF foreign
policy regarding the “countries from CIS”. 31 May,
2016, it was conducted the meeting of Supreme Eurasian
Economic Council in Astana (Kazakhstan).
V.Putin was trying to convince all the present in the
organization efficiency. Along with that, the attention of all
the others participants was drawn mostly to the problems of
economical cooperation of EEU countries-members in the
terms of the decrease of the world prices on energy
resources and the actions of mutual limitations regime in
trade with the countries of the West and Russia.
Special discontent with the maintenance of artificial
barriers on the way of products and services promotion
within the organization was expressed by the President of
Belarus O.Lukashenko. Also it was stated that after EEU
joining foreign trade volume of Belarus decreased by 20 bln
US dollars (up to 45 bln US dollars) in comparison with the
figures of 2012-2013.
6. CONCLUSIONS RESULTING FROM THE SITUATIONCONCLUSIONS RESULTING FROM THE SITUATION
WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN CONFLICTWITHIN THE CONTEXT OF RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN CONFLICT
The key factor that determines military political situation around
Ukraine are Russia’s attempts to return our country in the domain of
its influence using different means, in particular the armed
aggression.
The tasks of Putin’s regime regarding Ukraine didn`t change and
envisage the following:
tension maintenance at the line of separation and situation
destabilization in other regions with the aim of forcing Ukrainian
leadership to follow Russian terms of conflict settlement;
economical potential exhaustion of Ukraine and formation of other
conditions for bringing into power prorussian forces in our country;
discredit of Ukraine at international level and persuasion of
western countries in the necessity of reviving a dialogue with Russia
and economical sanctions regime abolishing.
