New Delhi (PTI):
Prime Minister Naren-
dra Modi is now the
template for what it
means and takes to be a
“nationalleader”,Home
Minister Amit Shah has
said, asserting that the
label was earlier hand-
ed out to even politi-
cians of no proven mer-
it and only capable of
winning from safe seats.
While national lead-
erswereidentifiedinthe
immediate aftermath of
the independence move-
ment by their “name re-
call” across regions be-
cause of their participa-
tion in the freedom
struggle, in the latter
decades, notably at the
height of the coalition
era,theexpressioncame
to be much abused, he
said, adding that Delhi
media generously dis-
tributed the status to its
“friendsandfavourites”.
Writing in the book
“Modi@20 Dreams Meet
Delivery”, brought out
by Rupa Publications
and to be launched on
May 11, Shah said such
“facile and insincere
manufacturing of na-
tional leaders” was
shown up for what it
was after Modi led the
BJP to its biggest Lok
Sabha win in 2014 before
repeating the feat with a
bigger margin in 2019.A
confidant of the prime
minister for over three
decades, Shah wrote
that the best teacher for
a leader is travelling to
ordinary places, meet-
ing ordinary families,
sharing ordinary expe-
riences, and doing all
this by ordinary means.
Modi has done so with
greater frequency and
perseverance than any
politician in the past 75
years, he said, adding
that before the 2014 and
the 2019 polls, there had
been no mandate for
hope; and no mandate
thatwassimplyareward
for tested performance.
Noting that no party
hadwonmajorityinLok
Sabha since 1984 till
2014, he said parties and
prime ministers won
majorities between 1952
and 1984 on the basis of
the goodwill of the free-
dom movement, family

New Delhi (PTI): The
value of the vote of a
Member of Parliament
is likely to go down to
700 from 708 in the pres-
idential polls scheduled
in July due to the ab-
sence of a legislative as-
sembly in Jammu and
Kashmir, officials said
on Saturday. The value
of the vote of an MP in
a presidential election
is based on the number
of elected members in
legislative assemblies
of states and union ter-
ritories, including Del-
hi, Puducherry and
Jammu and Kashmir.
The Electoral College
for the presidential elec-
tion comprises the
members of Lok Sabha,

of the legislative assem-
blies of states and union
territories including

60 dead after school bombed in Ukraine
Luhansk: As many as
60 people were feared to
have been killed in the
Russian bombing of a
village school in the
eastern Ukrainian re-
gion of Luhansk, the
regional governor said
on Sunday
.
Governor Serhiy
Gaidai said Russian
forces dropped a bomb
on Saturday afternoon
on the school in Bilo-
horivka where about 90
people were sheltering,
causing a fire that en-
gulfed the building.
“The fire was extin-
guished after nearly
four hours, then the
rubble was cleared,
and, unfortunately, the
bodies of two people
were found,” Gaidai
wrote on the Telegram
messaging app.
“Thirty people were
evacuated from the rub-
ble, seven of whom
were injured. Sixty peo-
ple were likely to have
died under the rubble
of buildings.”
Reuters could not im-
mediately verify the re-
port. Ukraine and its
Western allies have ac-
cused Russian forces of
targeting civilians in
the war, which Moscow
denies.
Officials said Russia dropped bomb where 90 people were sheltering

Bhopal: The Madhya
Pradesh police have ar-
rested Shubham Dixit
(27) who allegedly set
fire to a building in In-
dore, that took the lives
of 7 people and injured
9 others. The man was
arrested late at night
on Saturday from Loha-
mandi. He injured his
leg and a hand while
trying to flee from the
police. The police ad-
mitted him to the hos-
pital and later arrested
him. The man is to be
produced before the
court on Sunday.
Dixit felt humiliated
when the woman (who
lived in the building) he
liked decided to marry
someone else.
He came to the park-
ing area of the building.
He took out petrol from
a bike and poured it on
the Scooty of the wom-
an to set it on fire, which
later engulfed building.

JAHANGIRPURI VIOLENCE: COURT BLASTS DELHI POLICE
‘COPS ACCOMPANIED
ILLEGAL PROCESSION’
...THEIR COMPLICITY NEEDS TO BE PROBED: DELHI COURT
Noting there was an “utter failure” on part of the Delhi Police in stopping a Hanuman Jayanti
procession held without permission at Jahangirpuri in northwest Delhi last month, a Rohini court
has said that the issue “seems to have been simply brushed aside” by the senior police officers
New Delhi: The bail of
eight people allegedly
involved in the recent
communal clashes at
Delhi’s Jahangirpuri
has been rejected by a
local court, which said
the accused are well-
known local criminals
and their release may
intimidate witnesses.
The judge also repri-
manded the Delhi Po-
lice for not stopping the
illegal procession and
demanded that the po-
lice chief investigate
the matter and fix ac-
countability among the
officers involved.
Twenty people were
arrested over the vio-
lence in the northwest
Delhi locality that took
place during a Ram Na-
vami procession last
month, in which eight
policemen and a civil-
ian were injured. It was
found later that the pro-
cession took place
without police permis-
sion and the alterca-
tion with members of
the minority commu-
nity took place in pres-
ence of the police.
Instead of stopping
the illegal procession
and dispersing the
crowd, the police offic-
ers were seen accompa-
nying it on the route,
the court said.
“It prima facie re-
flects the utter failure
on the part of local po-
lice in stopping the said
procession having no
permission,” he said,
adding that the matter
seems to have been
brushed aside by sen-
ior officers.
Dependra Pathak, a
senior officer of the
Delhi police, had ex-
plained the presence of
the force during the
procession, saying, “It
is the responsibility of
Police to maintain law
and order”.
Security deployment remained heavy days after the clashes at Jahangirpuri.
The contents of the FIR itself show that the
local staff of police station Jahangirpuri,
led by Inspector Rajiv Ranjan as well
as other officials... were accompanying the said

New Delhi (PTI): In a
bid to control air pollu-
tion in Delhi, the Public
Works Department
(PWD) is planning to
hire 5-6 anti-smog guns
and truck-mounted wa-
ter sprinklers.
“We are hiring anti-
smog guns on a contrac-
tual basis to control dust
pollution. The recent
rain has brought some
relief but construction
work, like repairing of
roads, metro phase IV,
RRTS, and new projects,
are going across the city
.
Road construction and
repairing work is being
carried out on more
than 150 km across Del-
hi,” said a senior PWD
official.
The officials added
that each district will
hire about 5-6 anti-smog
guns as per the require-
ment. Several districts,
like South West, North
and Central, have also
invited tenders for hir-
ing truck-mounted
smog guns, including
operators. The depart-
ment has, however, de-
cided to hire only CNG
and BS VI compliant
vehicles. “We have men-
tioned in the tender that
the vehicle must be BS
VI compliant CNG
trucks. The aim is to
control pollution and
hence the department
will not entertain vehi-
cles running on other
fuels,” the official said.

for procreating and con-
serving select rare, en-
dangered and threatened
(RET) bird species using
surrogate species, and
create a state-of-the-art
genome resource bank-

Genome resource
banking is the storage of

been prepared by the
Salim Ali Centre for Or-
nithology and Natural
History (SACON) for the
conservation of avian di-
versity, their ecosystems,

in the Delhi-NCR over
the next 10 years.
The action plan for the
Delhi-NCR is part of a
broader plan which cov-
ers 17 states in five zones
— north, south, east,
west, and central. It was
shared with the Delhi
forest and wildlife de-
partment last month.
The Delhi-NCR ac-
counts for almost one-
third of the total bird
species found in India.
Out of the total 446 bird
species reported in the
region since 1970, sixty-
three are considered
rare, endangered and
threatened (RET).
Studies focusing on
wetland birds, includ-
ing 20 RET species, have
highlighted many con-
servation issues includ-
ing high pollution load
and stunted flow in
the Yamuna, and en-
croachment on bird
habitats in the form of

their accounts, during
the period she faced

as the DM of various
districts in the state,
the ED has said.
The federal agency
also told a special
PMLA court in Ranchi
that the IAS officer al-

ro-Khalistan ele-

Himachal Pradesh
must be the reason for central
agencies to go on the alert. In the
latest incident the Himachal
Pradesh Assembly was draped
in the Khalistani flag. A Khal-

gate of the Assembly complex at
Dharamshala. The Assembly’s

Over a week ago members of

jab’s Patiala district. Patiala has
seen a mushrooming of right
wing Hindu groups after Opera-
tion Blue Star in 1984.
The Himachal Pradesh inci-
dent happened despite an intel-
ligence alert following a letter
from the Sikhs for Justice or-
ganisation which said that it
will hoist the flag on March 29.
Heavy security foiled SFJ’s

P
he fifth National

Survey 2019-21
found that the to-
tal fertility rate
(Total Fertility Rate) among
Muslims has sharply de-
clined from 2.62 to 2.36 be-
tween the latest survey and
NFHS 4 (2015-16). This should
silence those who ratcheted
fear of Hindus getting out-
numbered by Muslims in the
near future. The claims were
without substance but the
propaganda from rooftops
convinced many a gullible
Hindu. The propagandists,
mainly seers and some BJP
leaders, have raised the spec-
tre of rising Muslim popula-
tion to carry forward their
religious agenda although
official data did not corrobo-
rate those claims. Using so-
cial media platforms to
spread the message of hate
and genocide, as was done in
Haridwar and later in Delhi,
prepares the ground for tar-
geting the minority commu-
nity. One BJP MLA saw a
conspiracy by Muslims to
one day occupy “the chair of
President, prime minister
and chief ministers”. That
the fear of Muslim popula-
tion rising is fallacious is
proved by NFHS 5.
The 2011 census showed
that Muslims constituted
14.22 percent of the popula-
tion after a gain of 0.8 per-
cent over the 2001 Census. In
comparison, the share of
Hindus in the country’s pop-
ulation fell by 0.7 percent. It
is this data that was respon-
sible for the debate on Mus-
lim population in the coun-
try. The NFHS 5 shows that
the decline in Muslim TFR by
46.5 percent was higher than
the Hindus whose TFR fell by
41.2 percent.
The good news is that as
India’s population growth is
slowing down with women
across all religions produc-
ing fewer children, the coun-
try’s population is set to fall.

T
n organization is a set of peo-
ple that work for specific ob-
jectives, it is the employee
that run it. The future of any
organization depends on the
type of people who work
there. Proper and well
planned men’s groups for
work is called Talent Manage-
ment. The fate of the organi-
zation depends on the skill set
of the people working in the
organization. If a person
with a correct skill set takes
the organization in the right
direction, then the organiza-
tion and employees are opti-
mally developed. Sometimes
it happens that the turnover
of the company increases,
but the system and talent
management practice in the
company is negligible and
there is a time when the com-
pany is likely to fall from its
employees’ salaries and other
expenses. The companies
who can organize their hu-
man resource in proper way
have a strong foundation.
Recently, the world’s lead-
ing company E Y surveyed
on the company’s Talent
Management and how they
can grow by organizing it in
correct way. In this survey,
the world’s top 600 officials
took part. These officials
came out with beautiful
things in the discussion. The
organization which will give
more freedom to the employ-
ees to work will grow more
than others. The officials fur-
ther stated that every organi-
zation should develop meth-
od or systems so that each
employee can work with
their own responsibility
. Eve-
ry employee must know ex-
actly what type of work they
are doing and how they want
to contribute to the company
at the end of the year. Also
the organization which does
not give freedom to its em-
ployees for decision making
does not grow very quickly
.
The second thing in this
survey that came out was
that a very few companies
are involved in talent man-
agement related programs or
investments and due to this
reason the company’s growth
in manufacturing is less. As
a result, there are lot of peo-
ple in the organization but
the lack of proper planning
does not benefit the organiza-
tion very much. Only 10% of
the companies have a scheme
to give opportunities to its
present employees rather
than appointing new people.
Doing this gives new oppor-
tunities to the employees
working from a long time
who have contributed more
in the development of the or-
ganization.
More than 54% of the offi-
cials said in this survey that
just 43% of companies have a
strong pipeline to create fu-
ture leadership talent and
38% of the companies have
the eligibility metrics for se-
lecting their organization’s
leadership candidates. Few
companies focus on skill ori-
ented leaders. Only 26% of
companies have met the crite-
ria to select effective leaders
for their organization. Due to
these stats we now come to
know that how much a com-
pany is serious in talent man-
agement and acquisition.
Studying in depth knowl-
edge of talent management,
we get an indication that em-
ployees can give a very im-
portant contribution in the
growth of a company
. Taking
from the workforce planning,
making right choice in em-
ployees and till the employee
come on board the company
has to properly induct them
about the organization, their
role-based responsibility has
to be decided and efforts need
to be made continuously to
make them contribute to the
company. If this whole sys-
tem is not done with a good
work plan then a person will
only be recruited in the com-
pany but will not make any
special contribution. It the
company wants to develop
than the company has to un-
derstand the flow and follow
it accordingly
.
Talent Management is an
important factor playing in
the organization’s growth. If
you want to develop an or-
ganization, then you have to
develop employees.
TIPS FOR TALENT
MANAGEMENT....

z If the employees consider
themselves as partners to the
company, and that kind of
environment is developed than
the company is certainly going
to develop, grow and make
more profits. The company’s
management has to make
certain efforts to create such
an environment.

z Every employee working in
the company has to contribute
in the development of their
organization. You and your
company will grow in partner-
ship if you contribute well in
the company’s growth.

z Organizations must have vari-
ous programs related to Talent
Management. These programs
should be more dependent on
employee’s contribution to the
organization.

z Changing the mental attitude
of employees has become
very important in today’s
environment. Regular training
programs should be organized
periodically.

z The leaders working in the or-
ganization has great responsi-
bilities. It’s the leader who has
to make sure that he and his
team give maximum contribu-
tion to the organization.

Lucknow: In the run
up to the general elec-
tions-2024, BJP is now
gearing up to establish
itself among various
caste blocs. The saffron
party, which successful-
ly won a large chunk of
Dalit voters in the 2022
assembly polls, is again
eyeing these voters.
Many outreach pro-
grams have been
launched by BJP strate-
gists to make inroads
among these voters.
In order to strengthen
social harmony and to
instill confidence in the
deprivedsection,recent-
ly CM Yogi and his cabi-
net ministers reached
the homes of Dalit fam-
ilies and had food. CM
Yogi dined with Mani-
ram and his family
during his recent visit
to Ayodhya. Whereas, to
realise the objective of
the saffron camp Depu-
ty CM Brajesh Pathak
had dinner at the house
of Bhola Shankar, Man-
dal President of SC
Wing during his Vara-
nasi tour. Jitin Prasad,
Nand Gopal Gupta Nan-
di, Jaiveer Singh and
other ministers also fol-
lowed the suit. Based on
the analysis of the elec-
tion results, political
experts are of the opin-
ion that in the recently
concluded assembly
elections, 22 percent of
the Jatav voters, who
are considered BSP’s
staunch support base,
shifted towards BJP
.
At the same time, SP
could get only nine per
cent votes of this com-
munity
. Since then, the
BJP camp is making ev-
ery effort to retain the
unprecedented support
of these voters. In the
Yogi 2.0 cabinet, 8 minis-
ters belonging to the SC
and ST community have
been included. BJP or-
ganized massive events
on the occasion of
Ambedkar Jayanti.
Moreover, time-bound
fulfillment of the prom-
ises made for the better-
ment of the Dalit com-
munities in BJP’s elec-
tion manifesto ‘Lok
Kalyan Sankalp Patra
2022’, has been included
in the Yogi govt top pri-
orities. According to a
high-ranking function-
ary of the BJP state or-
ganization, their party

coming Lok Sabha polls.

New Delhi (PTI): The
commercial vehicle in-
dustry is expected to
grow in double-digits
this fiscal, driven by
favourable demand
conditions amid accel-
erated economic activi-
ties, although high fuel
prices and increase in
interest rates on vehi-
cle loans are head-
winds, according to
Tata Motors Executive
Director Girish Wagh.
The commercial ve-
hicles segment, which
saw its peak in 2018-19,
with industry volumes
of over 10 lakh units,
went into a downturn
in the following two fis-
cal years, has begun to
pick up momentum
from the last financial
year. While it may take
longer to reach the
highest volumes again,
in terms of payload,
the industry could
reach the previous
peak sooner amid ris-
ing demand for com-
mercial vehicles (CVs)
with higher payloads.
“I think last year, the
economy started doing
well again and we saw
growth in the commer-
cial vehicle market by
around 26 per cent. We
(Tata Motors) have
grown by 33 per cent.
We have done better
than the industry,”
Wagh told PTI. In the
context of the last three
years, he said, “FY19,
was our previous peak,
when the commercial
vehicle industry vol-
umes crossed 1 million
(units). After that, we
have had two years of
downtime. FY20, which
was the year of prepar-
ing for BS-VI transition
and FY21, which was
the year of COVID, if I
may say so. In both
these years, the market
dropped and FY21 vol-
umes were almost 52

Poonawalla woos Musk to invest

New Delhi (PTI): Se-
rum Institute of India
(SII) CEO Adar Poona-
walla on Sunday wooed
Elon Musk to invest in
India to manufacture
Tesla electric cars, say-
ing it will be the best
investment he would
have ever made.
Musk in the past had
asked India to reduce
import duties to sell Te-
sla electric cars but the
government has insist-
ed on local manufactur-
ing. In a post on
Twitter, tag-
ging Musk,
Poonawalla
said, “...
Just in case
you don’t

ter, do look at investing
some of that capital in
INDIA for high-quality
large-scale manufactur-
ing of @Tesla cars.” He
further said, “I assure
you this will be the best
investment you’ll ever
make.” Last month, Un-
ion Minister Nitin Gad-
kari had said if Tesla
was ready to manufac-
ture its elec-
tric
vehicles in India then
there was ‘no problem’
but the company must
not import cars from
China. In August last
year, Musk had said
that American electric
vehicle maker Tesla
may set up manufactur-
ing unit in India if it
first succeeds with im-
ported vehicles in the

He had said Tesla
wanted to launch

40 days, they will sell
the remaining 25 per
cent stake of the Gen-

Mumbai (PTI): Fi-

the recent interest rate
hike by the Reserve
Bank was not surpris-
ing for her but the tim-
ing was, asserting that
the rising cost of funds
will not impact the gov-
ernment’s planned in-
frastructure invest-
ments.
“The timing of RBI’s
rate hike came as a sur-
prise but not the action
itself as people thought
it should have been
done anyway….It came
as a surprise because
it’s between the two
MPCs (monetary policy
committee) meetings.
But the US Fed had been
saying it all the while,”
Sitharaman said in her
first reaction to the rate
hike while addressing
an award function or-
ganised by the Econom-
ic Times on Saturday
evening here.
She said that in the
last MPC meeting, the
RBI gave indications
that it’s time for them to
also act, and the hike
was part of a synchro-
nised action by major
central banks across
the globe.

Global factors, macro data, earnings
to drive market trends this week
New Delhi (PTI): Glob-
al markets trends, infla-
tion, release of indus-
trial output data and
quarterly earnings will
dictate movement of
the equity benchmarks
this week, analysts
said, adding that vola-
tility might continue
amid slew of announce-
ments of macroeco-
nomic data at the global
level too.
Moreover, foreign
fund movement, crude
oil prices and trend in
rupee would also act as
major drivers for the
equity market, they
added. “The direction
of global equity mar-
kets along with move-
ment in dollar index
and crude oil prices will
continue to dominate
while inflation num-
bers of the USA on May
11 and inflation and IIP
numbers of India on
May 12 will also cause
volatility in the mar-
ket,” said Santosh Mee-
na. He said the last

ment with SBI among
the key results slated to

Lower taxes on hybrid cars can help

New Delhi (PTI):
Lowering taxes on hy-
brid vehicles can lead
to faster adoption of
electric vehicles in the
country, according to a
senior official of Hon-

(HCIL). The automak-
er noted that hybrid
technology is current-
ly best suited for Indi-
an conditions as it is
not dependent on ex-
ternal charging infra-
structure. The total tax
incidence on hybrid
vehicles in the country
is 43 per cent, which is
inclusive of GST, while
battery electric vehi-
cles attract a tax of
about 5 per cent.
“There is a big gap (in
taxes). So, yes it would

the government could
support us (by reduc-
ing tax on hybrid vehi-
cles as well) ...We re-
quest the government
if they could consider
it,” Honda Cars India

‘Never have agreed to US demand of military bases’
Islamabad (PTI): Paki-
stan’s ousted prime min-
ister Imran Khan has
reiterated that during
his time in power he
would “never have
agreed” to any US de-
mands of being given
military bases in the
country in the aftermath
of the former’s evacua-
tion from neighbouring
Afghanistan, according
to a media report. The
69-year-old cricketer-
turned politician was
voted out of power last
month through a no-con-
fidence motion, which
he alleges was master-
minded by the US with
the help of local players
over his pursuance of an
independent foreign pol-
icy. He is the first pre-
mier in Pakistan whose
fatewasdecidedthrough
a no-trust vote.
Addressing the over-
seas Pakistanis in a vid-
eo message, Khan said
that the US wanted bases
in Pakistan in order to
“conduct (counter at-
tacks) from here in case
if there were any terror-
ism in Afghanistan” -
something Khan said he
found “absolutely unac-
ceptable”, Dawn news-
paper reported. He said
Pakistan had already
lost 80,000 lives in the
US-led ‘war on terror’
and still its sacrifices
were never appreciated,
with many US politi-
cians blaming it instead.
“First they blamed us,
then they didn’t appreci-
ate us, our country and
tribal areas were de-
stroyed and now (they)
are again asking for
bases. I would have nev-
er agreed to this and the
problems (between us)
started from there,” he
was quoted as saying by
the paper.
DU VC urged to look into
‘shortfall’ in enrolment
New Delhi (PTI): The
Forum of Academics for
Social Justice has writ-
ten to Delhi University
(DU) Vice-Chancellor
Yogesh Singh, urging
him to analyse the ad-
mission data of the past
five years to look into
the shortfall in enrol-
ment of students under
reserved categories be-
fore initiating this year’s
admission process.
In a letter to Singh,
Hansraj Suman, chair-
man of the forum and a
former member of the
DU’s Academic Council,
has alleged that the uni-
versity colleges admit
more students than
sanctioned seats every
year while seats under
reserved categories re-
main vacant.
“Before starting the
admission process un-
der ST, OBC and PWD
(persons with disabili-
ties) quota, the data of
the last five years should
be analysed. It will show
that colleges have given
more admissions than
the sanctioned seats,
while the reserved seats
are not filled in return.
Every year the seats of
reserved categories re-
main vacant,” the letter
said.
Suman claimed that
every year 10 per cent
more admissions are
done in DU colleges than
the sanctioned seats and
most of the colleges do
not fill the seats of re-
served categories on the
increased seats.
Suman has also urged
Singh to constitute a
monitoring committee
for the colleges which
should prepare a report
on the lack of facilities
in these institutions.
DU SHOULD STEP UP MONITORING COMMITTEE
“Delhi University should constitute a monitoring
committee for the colleges at its level. Only teachers
of reserved classes should be kept in this committee.
The committee should visit these colleges and talk to
the teachers/staff/students on their problems. Talk to
those students on the problems faced by them and
prepare a report on the lack of facilities,” he said. The
DU vice-chancellor last month formed an eight-mem-
ber committee to examine the issue of shortfall in the
enrolment of SC/ST students in the varsity.

  • 1. PMModinowatemplateofnationalleader:Shah New Delhi (PTI): Prime Minister Naren- dra Modi is now the template for what it means and takes to be a “nationalleader”,Home Minister Amit Shah has said, asserting that the label was earlier hand- ed out to even politi- cians of no proven mer- it and only capable of winning from safe seats. While national lead- erswereidentifiedinthe immediate aftermath of the independence move- ment by their “name re- call” across regions be- cause of their participa- tion in the freedom struggle, in the latter decades, notably at the height of the coalition era, theexpressioncame to be much abused, he said, adding that Delhi media generously dis- tributed the status to its “friendsandfavourites”. Writing in the book “Modi@20 Dreams Meet Delivery”, brought out by Rupa Publications and to be launched on May 11, Shah said such “facile and insincere manufacturing of na- tional leaders” was shown up for what it was after Modi led the BJP to its biggest Lok Sabha win in 2014 before repeating the feat with a bigger margin in 2019.A confidant of the prime minister for over three decades, Shah wrote that the best teacher for a leader is travelling to ordinary places, meet- ing ordinary families, sharing ordinary expe- riences, and doing all this by ordinary means. Modi has done so with greater frequency and perseverance than any politician in the past 75 years, he said, adding that before the 2014 and the 2019 polls, there had been no mandate for hope; and no mandate thatwassimplyareward for tested performance. Noting that no party hadwonmajorityinLok Sabha since 1984 till 2014, he said parties and prime ministers won majorities between 1952 and 1984 on the basis of the goodwill of the free- dom movement, family legacy ,angeragainstthe incumbent government. JAHANGIRPURI VIOLENCE: COURT BLASTS DELHI POLICE ‘COPS ACCOMPANIED ILLEGAL PROCESSION’ ...THEIR COMPLICITY NEEDS TO BE PROBED: DELHI COURT Noting there was an “utter failure” on part of the Delhi Police in stopping a Hanuman Jayanti procession held without permission at Jahangirpuri in northwest Delhi last month, a Rohini court has said that the issue “seems to have been simply brushed aside” by the senior police officers New Delhi: The bail of eight people allegedly involved in the recent communal clashes at Delhi’s Jahangirpuri has been rejected by a local court, which said the accused are well- known local criminals and their release may intimidate witnesses. The judge also repri- manded the Delhi Po- lice for not stopping the illegal procession and demanded that the po- lice chief investigate the matter and fix ac- countability among the officers involved. Twenty people were arrested over the vio- lence in the northwest Delhi locality that took place during a Ram Na- vami procession last month, in which eight policemen and a civil- ian were injured. It was found later that the pro- cession took place without police permis- sion and the alterca- tion with members of the minority commu- nity took place in pres- ence of the police. Instead of stopping the illegal procession and dispersing the crowd, the police offic- ers were seen accompa- nying it on the route, the court said. “It prima facie re- flects the utter failure on the part of local po- lice in stopping the said procession having no permission,” he said, adding that the matter seems to have been brushed aside by sen- ior officers. Dependra Pathak, a senior officer of the Delhi police, had ex- plained the presence of the force during the procession, saying, “It is the responsibility of Police to maintain law and order”. Security deployment remained heavy days after the clashes at Jahangirpuri. TOP TWEETS NEED FOR EXTRA VIGIL IN VIEW OF PRO-KHALISTAN ACTIVITY IN HP ro-Khalistan ele- ments are beginning to raise their heads in Punjab and also in Himachal Pradesh must be the reason for central agencies to go on the alert. In the latest incident the Himachal Pradesh Assembly was draped in the Khalistani flag. A Khal- istani flag was also hoisted at the gate of the Assembly complex at Dharamshala. The Assembly’s walls were painted with pro- Khalistangraffiti.TheHimachal police suspect the involvement of tourists from Punjab. Over a week ago members of Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) clashed with a group which pro- tested against Sena taking out an anti-Khalistan rally in Pun- jab’s Patiala district. Patiala has seen a mushrooming of right wing Hindu groups after Opera- tion Blue Star in 1984. The Himachal Pradesh inci- dent happened despite an intel- ligence alert following a letter from the Sikhs for Justice or- ganisation which said that it will hoist the flag on March 29. Heavy security foiled SFJ’s plans that day. The state now needs to be extra vigilant. P he fifth National Family Health Survey 2019-21 found that the to- tal fertility rate (Total Fertility Rate) among Muslims has sharply de- clined from 2.62 to 2.36 be- tween the latest survey and NFHS 4 (2015-16). This should silence those who ratcheted fear of Hindus getting out- numbered by Muslims in the near future. The claims were without substance but the propaganda from rooftops convinced many a gullible Hindu. The propagandists, mainly seers and some BJP leaders, have raised the spec- tre of rising Muslim popula- tion to carry forward their religious agenda although official data did not corrobo- rate those claims. Using so- cial media platforms to spread the message of hate and genocide, as was done in Haridwar and later in Delhi, prepares the ground for tar- geting the minority commu- nity. One BJP MLA saw a conspiracy by Muslims to one day occupy “the chair of President, prime minister and chief ministers”. That the fear of Muslim popula- tion rising is fallacious is proved by NFHS 5. The 2011 census showed that Muslims constituted 14.22 percent of the popula- tion after a gain of 0.8 per- cent over the 2001 Census. In comparison, the share of Hindus in the country’s pop- ulation fell by 0.7 percent. It is this data that was respon- sible for the debate on Mus- lim population in the coun- try. The NFHS 5 shows that the decline in Muslim TFR by 46.5 percent was higher than the Hindus whose TFR fell by 41.2 percent. The good news is that as India’s population growth is slowing down with women across all religions produc- ing fewer children, the coun- try’s population is set to fall. MUSLIM FERTILITY RATE SHOWS A SHARP FALL The 2011 census showed that Muslims constituted 14.22 percent of the population after a gain of 0.8 percent over the 2001 Census. In comparison, the share of Hindus in the country’s population fell by 0.7 percent T n organization is a set of peo- ple that work for specific ob- jectives, it is the employee that run it. The future of any organization depends on the type of people who work there. Proper and well planned men’s groups for work is called Talent Manage- ment. The fate of the organi- zation depends on the skill set of the people working in the organization. If a person with a correct skill set takes the organization in the right direction, then the organiza- tion and employees are opti- mally developed. Sometimes it happens that the turnover of the company increases, but the system and talent management practice in the company is negligible and there is a time when the com- pany is likely to fall from its employees’ salaries and other expenses. The companies who can organize their hu- man resource in proper way have a strong foundation. Recently, the world’s lead- ing company E Y surveyed on the company’s Talent Management and how they can grow by organizing it in correct way. In this survey, the world’s top 600 officials took part. These officials came out with beautiful things in the discussion. The organization which will give more freedom to the employ- ees to work will grow more than others. The officials fur- ther stated that every organi- zation should develop meth- od or systems so that each employee can work with their own responsibility . Eve- ry employee must know ex- actly what type of work they are doing and how they want to contribute to the company at the end of the year. Also the organization which does not give freedom to its em- ployees for decision making does not grow very quickly . The second thing in this survey that came out was that a very few companies are involved in talent man- agement related programs or investments and due to this reason the company’s growth in manufacturing is less. As a result, there are lot of peo- ple in the organization but the lack of proper planning does not benefit the organiza- tion very much. Only 10% of the companies have a scheme to give opportunities to its present employees rather than appointing new people. Doing this gives new oppor- tunities to the employees working from a long time who have contributed more in the development of the or- ganization. More than 54% of the offi- cials said in this survey that just 43% of companies have a strong pipeline to create fu- ture leadership talent and 38% of the companies have the eligibility metrics for se- lecting their organization’s leadership candidates. Few companies focus on skill ori- ented leaders. Only 26% of companies have met the crite- ria to select effective leaders for their organization. Due to these stats we now come to know that how much a com- pany is serious in talent man- agement and acquisition. Studying in depth knowl- edge of talent management, we get an indication that em- ployees can give a very im- portant contribution in the growth of a company . Taking from the workforce planning, making right choice in em- ployees and till the employee come on board the company has to properly induct them about the organization, their role-based responsibility has to be decided and efforts need to be made continuously to make them contribute to the company. If this whole sys- tem is not done with a good work plan then a person will only be recruited in the com- pany but will not make any special contribution. It the company wants to develop than the company has to un- derstand the flow and follow it accordingly . Talent Management is an important factor playing in the organization’s growth. If you want to develop an or- ganization, then you have to develop employees. TIPS FOR TALENT MANAGEMENT.... z If the employees consider themselves as partners to the company, and that kind of environment is developed than the company is certainly going to develop, grow and make more profits. The company’s management has to make certain efforts to create such an environment. z Every employee working in the company has to contribute in the development of their organization. You and your company will grow in partner- ship if you contribute well in the company’s growth. z Organizations must have vari- ous programs related to Talent Management. These programs should be more dependent on employee’s contribution to the organization. z Changing the mental attitude of employees has become very important in today’s environment. Regular training programs should be organized periodically. z The leaders working in the or- ganization has great responsi- bilities. It’s the leader who has to make sure that he and his team give maximum contribu- tion to the organization. Musk in the past had asked India to reduce import duties to sell Te- sla electric cars but the government has insist- ed on local manufactur- ing. In a post on Twitter, tag- ging Musk, Poonawalla said, “... Just in case you don’t end up buying @Twit- ter, do look at investing some of that capital in INDIA for high-quality large-scale manufactur- ing of @Tesla cars.” He further said, “I assure you this will be the best investment you’ll ever make.” Last month, Un- ion Minister Nitin Gad- kari had said if Tesla was ready to manufac- ture its elec- tric vehicles in India then there was ‘no problem’ but the company must not import cars from China. Mumbai (PTI): Fi- nance Minister Nirma- la Sitharaman has said the recent interest rate hike by the Reserve Bank was not surpris- ing for her but the tim- ing was, asserting that the rising cost of funds will not impact the gov- ernment’s planned in- frastructure invest- ments. “The timing of RBI’s rate hike came as a sur- prise but not the action itself as people thought it should have been done anyway….It came as a surprise because it’s between the two MPCs (monetary policy committee) meetings. But the US Fed had been saying it all the while,” Sitharaman said in her first reaction to the rate hike while addressing an award function or- ganised by the Econom- ic Times on Saturday evening here. She said that in the last MPC meeting, the RBI gave indications that it’s time for them to also act, and the hike was part of a synchro- nised action by major central banks across the globe. Moreover, foreign fund movement, crude oil prices and trend in rupee would also act as major drivers for the equity market, they added. “The direction of global equity mar- kets along with move- ment in dollar index and crude oil prices will continue to dominate while inflation num- bers of the USA on May 11 and inflation and IIP numbers of India on May 12 will also cause volatility in the mar- ket,” said Santosh Mee- na.
