What does “Islam” mean?
The word الإسلام [Islam] is an infinitive word derived from س ل م [silm] root in if‘al pattern and used as noun and infinitive. The word silm means “release/keeping away; and to be distant from fear, doubt, trouble, lack of peace, unhappiness, fight, war, pain, suffering, material and spiritual inconveniences, weakness and decaying, and all the negativities.” This word is also the root of salim, selam, teslim, Islam etc. The word’s “Islam” form means “strengthening” [removal from problems, worries, fear, unhappiness, fights, wars, and similar negative things]. Hence, the religion Islam means the “the religion that strengthens humans [entire range of principles that protects and secures people by putting a distance between them and problems, worries, war, weakness, spiritual illness, unhappiness, and similar things].”

SURAH AL-MA’ARIJ (THE ASCENDING TIME)
MECCAN PERIOD
Division: 363
1-3A supplicant asked for the punishment for the infidels; those who
consciously deny the Divinity of Allah and the fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the
Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer], for whom there is no one to save from Allah,
the Owner of “the ascending times”.
4The harbinger Ayat and the Wahy [revelation] shall ascend to Him/withdraw
from the Earth within a day which corresponds to fifty thousand years.
5Then, have patience with gracious patience.
6,7Surely, while We see the punishment close but they see it distant.
8-10On that day, the Heavens will be like molten metal. And the mountains shall
be like colored wool that is scattered. And no close friend will ask anything to a close
friend.
11-14Despite having been shown to each other, the sinner will want to give away
his sons, wife and brother, all his family who sheltered and grew him up and all who
live on the Earth as ransom to save himself.
15-18Surely, not as that sinner may think! That is a fire that will burn and blister
those who turn away and deny.

19-21Surely, man was created weak and ill-tempered; he bemoans when evil
touches him. Yet, when good touches him/he becomes wealthy, he withholds even
the smallest aid.
22But the “Salaters” [Who take supporting financially and spiritually;
enlightening of the community as their principle] are excluded.
23The Salaters are the ones who maintain their Salat [Support financially and
spiritually; enlighten the community].
24,25And the Salaters are the ones who reserve a share from their wealth for
those poor who request and those poor who are shy to request.

Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer].-

36,37Then what is the matter with the infidels; those who consciously deny the
Divinity of Allah and the fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] so they haste upon you from all direction in groups, extending their necks?
38Does each of them expect to be entered into a Jannah [Heaven/Paradise] of
abundant blessings?
39Certainly not as they think! We created them from that which they know.
40,41No more! I swear by Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] of the East and the West that We are capable of replacing them with those
who are better than them. And We are not to be defeated.
42Let them enjoy their worldly life in vain until they meet the promised day.
43On that day, they shall emerge from their graves in haste. As if they haste for
something that is erected.
44With their eyes looking down in humiliation, being enshrouded with
humiliation. That is the day with which they have been threatened with!
