What does “Islam” mean? The word الإسلام [Islam] is an infinitive word derived from س ل م [silm] root in if‘al pattern and used as noun and infinitive. The word silm means “release/keeping away; and to be distant from fear, doubt, trouble, lack of peace, unhappiness, fight, war, pain, suffering, material and spiritual inconveniences, weakness and decaying, and all the negativities.” This word is also the root of salim, selam, teslim, Islam etc. The word’s “Islam” form means “strengthening” [removal from problems, worries, fear, unhappiness, fights, wars, and similar negative things]. Hence, the religion Islam means the “the religion that strengthens humans [entire range of principles that protects and secures people by putting a distance between them and problems, worries, war, weakness, spiritual illness, unhappiness, and similar things].”

2-4A Qur’an in Arabic; a Scripture that has been sent down by Allah, the Most
Merciful upon all creatures He created on the Earth, the Possessor of Vast Mercy as a
harbinger of good tidings and a warning for a people who know, expounded in
detail/divided into divisions! Most of them turned away despite this. They do not
heed anymore.
5And they said: “Our hearts are covered under a veil/within an armor against
that which you invite us to, and our hearing is impaired and there is a curtain
between you and us. Then do your best because we do ours”.
6,7Say: “I am only a human as you are. I am being revealed that ‘your god is
one’. Therefore, turn straight to Him and ask Him for His forgiveness”. O woe to
those who evade the Zaqat/tax and consciously deny Akhirat [Afterlife], those who
do not believe and associate others with Allah!
-8Surely, those who believe and do good deeds are the ones for whom will be
endless/not reproachable blessings.-

9Say: “Will you really deny/disbelieve the One Who created the Earth in two
phases? And you associate others with Him! He is Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the
Nurturer, the Sustainer] of all universes”.
10And He placed mountains on the Earth standing tight. He grew blessings on
them. And He arranged these blessings into four seasons without
discriminating/equally for those who look and ask for it.
11Then He dwelled/established His dominion in the Heavens which is smoke260
and said to the Heavens and the Earth: “Come whether willingly or not!”. And both
of them responded: “We have come willingly”.
12Thus did Allah create them in two phases and as seven layers of Heavens and
assigned each layer with its own duty. We adorned the closest layer of the Heavens
with lanterns and the protection. This is the affair of the One Who is the Most

Exalted, the Almighty, the Most Honorable, the Invincible/the Subduer, the Most
Knowing.
(61/41; Fussilat/9-12)

13And if they deny despite all these, say to them: “I have warned you against a
lightning similar to the lightning that stroke Ad and Thamud”.
14And messengers from among them came to them from their front-behind
[from all around] to say them: “Do not worship anyone but Allah!”. And they said:
“Had our Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] wished, He
would have sent down angels. They said: “Therefore, we deny/disbelieve that which
you have been revealed”.
15As for the people of Ad; they acted arrogantly on the Earth and said: “Who
else is greater than us in power?”. They surely did not see that Allah, the One Who
created them was more exalted than them in power! And they consciously denied
Our Ayat.
16Therefore, We sent upon them a freezing storm during those unearthly days
to ensure that they would taste the suffering of disgrace in their simple worldly lives.
The wrath of Akhirat [Afterlife] is surely much more disgracing. And they shall not
receive help then.
17And as for the people of Thamud; We guided them to the righteous path. Yet
they favored and preferred to play blind while they were on the righteous path. Then
the lightning of the disgracing wrath seized them for that which they earned.
18And We spared those who believed and surrendered themselves under the
guardianship of Allah.

19And on the day when enemies of Allah shall be gathered, they shall be
thrown into the Fire.
20And when they arrive there, their hearing, their sight and their skin will
testify against them for what they did.
21-23And they shall say to their own skins: “Why do you testify against us?”.
Their skins will say to them: “Allah, the One Who makes all speak, has made us

speak and He created you for the first time and now you are being returned to Him.
And you were not hiding lest your hearing, sight and skins would testify against you.
And you believed that Allah would not see many of your deeds. This is your faith;
your assumptions about your Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] has destroyed you, thus you have become the ones who have lost and
suffered”.
24And if they insist to associate others with Allah and deny His Ayat, the Fires
of Jahannah [Hell] will be their residence. And even if they repent, their repentance
will not be accepted.
25And We made them surrounded by their peers/Iblises like a shell so they
made that which was behind of them and that which was front of them [all around]
alluring to them. And the “Word”261 that was in effect for all those past before them
was fulfilled upon them. Surely, they were the ones who lost/suffered.
(61/41; Fussilat/19-25)

26And the infidels; those who consciously denied the Divinity of Allah and the
fact that He is Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] said: “Do
not listen to this Qur’an if you want to prevail, and do trivial things/use every way
possible to prevent people from understanding it”.262
27And We will make the infidels; those who consciously deny the Divinity of
Allah and the fact that He is Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] taste a severe punishment. And surely, We will punish them for their most
evil deeds.
28His is the punishment of the enemies of Allah; the Fire. Those who
consciously deny Our Ayat; they shall stay in Jahannah [Hell] eternally as their
punishment.
29And the infidels; those who consciously denied the Divinity of Allah and the
fact that He is Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] said: “O
our Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer]! Show us those who
led us astray from the righteous path, those who we know or not. So that we keep
them under our feet to make them the lowest ones”.

30-32Surely, those who say, “Our Rabb is Allah” and are righteous; harbinger
Ayat will continuously be sent down upon them; “Do not fear, do not sadden.
Rejoice on the Jannah [Heaven/Paradise] that is promised. We are your guide in the
worldly life and Akhirat [Afterlife], your helpers and protector. In the Jannah
[Heaven/Paradise] you will have all your desires as a blessing from the Most
Forgiving of the sins of His servants, the One Who does not punish His servants and
the Most Beneficent, the Possessor of Vast Mercy. What you desire will be yours
there”.
33,34And who else speaks sweeter than those who call upon Allah, do good
deeds and say: “I am among the Muslims”? And the beauty and the ugliness/the good
and the evil are not the same. Eliminate evil with the good. Then your enemies will
become close to you.
35This mature behavior will only be delivered to those who are patient, this
only is delivered to those who have a large share.
36If any evil thought from Satan pokes you, seek refuge in Allah immediately.
Surely, He is the Best Hearing and the Best Knowing.
(61/41; Fussilat/30-36)

37And the night and the day and the sun and the moon are among His
evidence/signs. Do not prostrate and surrender to the sun and the moon. And if you
worship only Allah, prostrate and surrender to Allah, the Creator of all of them.
38If they act arrogantly despite all these, let them know that whoever knows his
Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] well exonerate Him from
all deficiencies and they shall never quit.
39Surely, when you see the Earth barren and We make it rain upon it; it is
among His evidence/signs that the Earth quivers and grows. Surely, the One Who
can give life to Earth can also resurrect the dead. Surely He is the Omnipotent.
40Surely, those who go astray from the Truth about Our evidence/signs cannot
be hidden from Us. Then, is the one who will be thrown into the Fire better or the
one who will come to Us safely on the Day of Qiyamat [Resurrection]? Do what you
wish. Surely, Allah is the Best Seeing of your deeds.
(61/41; Fussilat/37-40)

41,42Surely, those who consciously deny the Admonition/the Qur’an when it
comes to them.. And surely, that Admonition/Scripture is sent down by the Best
Law-Giver, the One Who Precludes Corruption/the One Who Makes Incorruptible,
the Praised and the Praiseworthy. It is a noble Scripture to which no superstition can
approach, not from its front or behind.
43You are told nothing other than what was told to the messengers before you.
Surely, your Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] has Mercy
and possessor of the painful punishment.
44Had We sent down that Admonition/Scripture in a foreign language, they
would surely say: “Should He not expound His Ayat? Foreign language or Arabic!?”.
Say: “It is a guide and a cure for those who believe”. And as for the disbelievers;
their hearing is impaired. And that Admonition/the Qur’an is blindness upon them.
They are called from a faraway place.
45And surely, We gave Moses the Scripture and they conflicted over it. Had not
the Word263 been passed by your Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer], it would have been fulfilled among them. and surely they are in doubt and
have insufficient knowledge about it [the Qur’an].
(61/41; Fussilat/41-45)

46Whoever does good deeds will do it for himself. And whoever does evil
deeds, his deed will be against him. And your Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the
Nurturer, the Sustainer] never treats His servants unjustly.
47Knowledge of the Hour is only with Allah. No fruit would sprout and no
female would become pregnant and give birth or have miscarriage without His
knowledge. And on the day Allah asks them: “Where are My partners?”. They shall
say: “We hereby declare to You that there is no witness among us”.
48Those which they used to worship will leave them and parish. They shall
comprehend that there is nowhere for them to flee.
49Mankind never quits asking for favors but when a trouble touches them they
immediately become despair and sad.
50And if We made him taste the mercy after a trouble had touched him, he
would surely say: “This is my right. And I do not believe that the moment of
Qiyamat [Resurrection] will come. And if I am returned to my Rabb [the Lord, the
Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer], surely good things will be mine before Him”.
This is why We will make the infidels; those who consciously deny the Divinity of

Allah and the fact that He is Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] soon know what they have done and make them taste a harsh punishment.
51And when We bestow Our blessings upon a man, he turns away and goes
astray. But when a trouble touches him, he prays with his deepest sincerity; he calls
and begs.
52Say: “Have you ever thought? If the Qur’an was sent down by Allah and you
covered up the Truth… Who else can be more in perversion than those who went
astray too far?”.
53Until it is disclosed it is the Truth, We will keep showing them Our
evidence/signs in other worlds and in their inner selves264. Is it not sufficient that
your Rabb [the Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] is witness over all
things?
54Open your eyes! Surely they are in doubt about meeting their Rabb [the Lord,
the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer]. Open your eyes! Surely Allah
encompasses all.

Earth, fecundating winds, amount of rains, recycling of water, stake shaped mountains, formation of
petroleum, respiration and photosynthesis, difficulty to arise into the Heavens, Feminity and
Masculinity of plants… All these biological, physical concepts and existence were unknown during
the times when the Qur’an was revealed. Therefore, inclusion of the concepts that has only recently
been discovered by science is a manifest and certain evidence that the Qur’an was revealed by Allah.
