This document summarizes progress on low-voltage electrowetting using lubricated polymer honeycomb substrates. Introducing ethylene carbonate into the polymer matrix allowed an increase in sensitivity. A theoretical analysis of electrowetting thermodynamics on a liquid infused film was conducted. Experimental data fitting to theoretical curves estimated the specific capacity of the double layer. An analysis of viscous dissipation under the proposed electrowetting scheme was also presented.
Inhibitory Effect of Some Carbazides on Corrosion of Aluminium in Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide Solutions
The dissolution of aluminium in hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solutions in the presence of semicarbazide, thiosemicar- bazide and sym.dipheny1carbazide as corrosion inhibitors has been studied using thermometric, weight-loss and polarization methods. The three methods gave consistent results. The higher inhibition efficiency of these compounds in acidic than in alkaline madia may be due to the less negative potential of aluminium in hydrochloric acid solution, favouring adsorption of the additive. The adsorption of these compounds were found to obey Frurnkin adsorption isotherm. Cathodic polarization measurements showed that these com- pounds are cathodic inhibitors and their adsorption in the double layer does not change the mechanism of the hydrogen evolution reaction. The results are analysed in terms of both molecular and cationic adsorption.
A new technique to measure oxygen reduction kinetics underneath coatings using hydrogen permeation from the back side. Huge step towards characterising buried interface reactivity.

Influence of Polyacrylamide on Corrosion Resistance of Mild Steel Simulated C...IOSR Journals
Corrosion resistance of mild steel in simulated concrete pore solution (SCPS) Prepared in well water in
the absence and presence of polacrylamide (PAA) and Zn2+has been evaluated by weight loss method. It is observed
that when PAA is added the corrosion inhibition efficiency (IE) increases. As the concentration of PAA increases ,
inhibition efficiency also increases . Addition of Zn2+ improves of IE further. 50 ppm of PAA has 60% IE . 100 ppm
of PAA shows 75% IE. When 50 ppm of Zn2+is added to the above system , both system shows 80% and 90% IE. The
mechanistic aspects of corrosion inhibition have been investigated by polarization study and AC impedance
spectra. . Polaraization study suggests that the PAA-Zn2+ system functions as a mixed inhibitor system .AC
impedance reveal the presence of a protective film on the metal surface.

The project will focus on synthesis of hexagonal structured pure phases of compositions: BaM1/3Ti2/3O3-δ and BaM1/6Ti5/6O3-δ, where M= Sc, In and Fe via different methods such as Solid state sintering and wet chemical route. The ultimate goal is to finding structure – functionality relationships within these proton and mixed conducting systems. A substantial effort will focus on search for and fabrication of new materials although the main part of the work will concentrate on detailed structural characterisation (rietveld refinement), impedance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.
Computation of Dielectric Constant and Loss Factor of Water and Dimethylsulph...Scientific Review
This study examined the computation of the dielectric constant (ε′) and dielectric loss factor (ε′′) of water and dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO)at temperature 20oc, 30oc, 40oc and 500C within the frequency range of f GHz using Debye equations. The Debye equations were derived, and the experimental values of the static dielectric constant (εs), dielectric constant at high frequency (ε ) and the relaxation time (τ) of water and DMSO at those temperatures were substituted into the derived equations and the dielectric constant (ε′) and loss factor (ε′′) of water and DMSO were computed with aid of maple-13 and results were generated. These results revealed that the method is capable of reproducing good results forwork done using single Debye and that of the reflection cell ofdimethylsulphoxide.
Dissociative adsorption of molecular deuterium on polycrystalline diamond fil...PROMETHEUS Energy
In this work we report on an investigation of thermally induced
dissociative adsorption of molecular deuterium onto hydrogenated
and bare polycrystalline diamond film surfaces studied by
high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HR-EELS).
Hydrogenated diamond films (grown from CH4 and H2 gases)
were heated at various temperatures in molecular D2 ambient at
5 106 Torr and then studied by HR-EELS. This study clearly
shows the formation of C–D bonding on hydrogenated
polycrystalline diamond surface and gradual disappearance
of C–H mode as a function of annealing temperature. The C–D
bonding configurations and thermal stability of adsorbed
deuterium resulting from dissociate adsorption were compared
to those occurring on deuterated diamond films (grown from
CD4 and D2 gases). We report and assign at least three
contributions to C–D stretching HR-EELS mode associated to
(111), (100) crystallographic orientations as well as grain
boundary associated vibrations in accordance with similar
vibrations of C–H stretching vibrations, reported previously.

Breakdown characteristics of polyethylene/silicon nitride nanocompositesTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
Silicon nitride (Si3N4) has been utilized as a nanofiller in polymeric insulation due to its good characteristics in both electrical insulation and thermal conduction properties. In this work, a comparative study was performed between unfilled polyethylene and polyethylene containing different amounts of Si3N4 nanofiller. The study showed that the low density polyethylene (LDPE) added with 15 wt% of Si3N4nanofiller could have higher breakdown strength compared to equivalent LDPE with 10 wt% of Si3N4nanofiller. Morphological characterizations of the nanocomposite samples were performed using field emission electron microscopy (FESEM) and the results showed that the breakdown performance of the investigated materials were affected by the agglomeration of Si3N4 nanoparticles.
