Writing an Expository Essay
Unit Plan
Sarah Krupa
ASSURE
• Analyze the Learner
▫ Teaching how to write a how to essay to 9th graders.
There are 23 students 12 girls, and 11 boys. English
speaking. Reviewing skills to verify students skills.
• Main Objective
▫ My students will write an expository essay by looking
at examples, conducting research, and using the help
of other classmates by the end of the week with 95%
accuracy.
Monday
• Analyze the Learner
- Teaching how to write a how to essay to 9th
graders. There are 23 students 12 girls, and 11 boys. English
speaking. Reviewing skills to verify students skills.
• Main Objective
- My students will choose a topic for their how to
project to complete the lesson and conduct research for
their topic.
Monday continued
• Use of Technology
▫ - Smart board to introduce the topic
▫ - Computers or Ipads for the students to research
ideas for their topic

of an expository essay using the sites given using
Pinterest and then work on their own body
paragraphs

▫ Computers or Ipads for students to visit the
Pinterest to work
Thursday
• Analyze the Learner
- Teaching how to write a how to essay to 9th
graders. There are 23 students 12 girls, and 11 boys.
English speaking. Reviewing skills to verify students skills.
• Main Objective
▫ My students will learn about the conclusion of an essay
and write their own. They will then work on their how
to projects.
Thursday Continued

to work on their project
Friday
• Analyze the Learner
- Teaching how to write a how to essay to 9th
graders. There are 23 students 12 girls, and 11 boys.

▫ My students will review what they have learned
about expository essays during the week and then
present their project
