5. Valdarno is a natural basin…
It has got an ancien history, in fact the
valley dates back to 7 million years
ago, to the pliocene era.
In past times, Valdarno was a lake,
with a tropical climate, marshy shores,
lush vegetation and terrific prehistoric
animals.
6. The river that flows through this valley that is situated in the
heart of Tuscany, our region, is called Arno.
The Arno river also flows
through three of the most
importants towns of the region:
Firenze, Arezzo and Siena.
7. The Arno river goes into the valley flowing through a
particular site called the “Hell Valley” and then it goes on
flowing through the town of Incisa.
8. In the North of the valley there are the mountains of
Pratomagno.
9. In the South-West are the sweet hills of Chianti where
you can see the famous vineyards that produce the
delicious Chianti wine appreciated all over the world.
10. In the valley also there are three small towns:
Montevarchi Figline Valdarno
San Giovanni Valdarno
