16. TOTAL'S KAOMBO, an ambitious ultra-deep-water offshore project.
At depths of 1,400 to 1,950 meters, the Kaombo project lies in ultra-deep offshore waters. It
aims to tap oil deposits spread across six fields in the southeastern section of Block 32 with
800 square kilometers.
Approximately 300 kilometers of subsea pipelines will connect the fields of two FPSO (floating
production, storage and offloading) units. For the first time, Total is building the new FPSO’s
by converting crude oil carriers instead of ordering new vessels as they have done in the Block 17.
InterOil Angola manages the shore marine support for the Kaombo FPSO project.
