YOU WILL:
• learn AP style basics to see how
journalistic writing differs from
academic writing
• use quotes correctly
• create a headline
• honor and appreciate deadlines
• demonstrate the ability to conduct an
interview
• write a feature story on a classmate
based on his or her defining moment
essay.

3. • You will write an essay about a
significant moment in your
life.
• Your essay should be 1 ½ - 2
pages double-spaced and typed
(in 12 point Times New Roman)
• Use traditional essay style for
this part of the project.

4. Work schedule
10/14: Write/type your essay
10/16: Write/type your essay and
conference with Ms. Huckabee or Mr.
Thomas. You should have a COMPLETE
essay to show at this point. Deadline
grade 1
10/20: TWO typed and printed copies
of your essay are due at the
BEGINNING OF CLASS. Deadline grade 2
