2. * Subjects and verbs must AGREE with one
another in number (singular or plural). Thus,
if a subject is singular, its verb must also be
singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must
also be plural.
WHAT IS SUBJECT VERB-AGREEMENT ?

a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence,
and forming the main part of the predicate of a
sentence.
Example: dance, sing, play, write, etc.
SUBJECT
a person or thing that is being discussed, described.
Example: Dog, Rhia, Bag, Camille, etc.

4. SINGULAR VERB
 a singular verb is a word showing what has been
done, is being done, or will be done that is used with a
singular subject in a sentence. A singular subject is one
made up of a noun or pronoun that represents one
person, place, thing or idea.
Example: Sunshine prefers lasagna over spaghetti.

5. Plural Verb
Plural verb is used if both parts of the
compound subject connected by or or
nor are plural.
Example: They are prepare for the party.

 Singular Subjects joined by a or or nor
-Singular verb is used if both parts of the compound
subject joined by or or nor or singular .
Example: Nick or Jay plans to wear wig during their recital
 Plural subject joined by or or nor
-Plural verb is used of both parts of the compound
subject connected by or or nor are plural
Example: Either the twins or the triplets get the role in the
commercial.

8. RULES
 Subject of mixed number joined by or or nor
- The verb agrees with the nearest subject of one
part of the compound subject is singular and the other
part is plural.
Example: Neither the teacher nor the students have
deaded on their community project .
-Likewise the verb agrees with the nearest
subject if one or more singular subject are joined by one
or more plural subjects.
Example: Neither the students nor the teacher has
deaded in their community project.
