o Kiran mazumdar Shaw was born on 23rd march 1953.
o One of the board directors in Infosys, chairperson of IIM
Bangalore and Managing director of Biocon.
o She was awarded Othmer Gold Medal in 2004.
o She comes under 77th position under Forbes list.
o She founded Biocon CSR that enables to improve education,
Infrastructure ,health and hospitality.
o Biocon was the first biotechnology company in India to issue
an IPO, Biocon was only the second Indian company to cross
the $1-billion mark on the first day of listing.

PHILANTHROPHY ACTIVITIES
o She establish a 1400-bed cancer care centre at the narayana
health city campus at Boomsandra,Bangalore,Mazumdar
Shaw cancer centre.
o Biocon foundation to conduct Health,education,sanitation
and environment programmers for the economically weaker
section of the Indian society .
o Mazumdar-Shaw has supported development and use of a
basic mathematics textbook, introduced in Kannada schools in
2006.
o Mazumdar-Shaw dislikes the term "philanthropy", believing
that it often provides temporary fixes rather than changing
underlying conditions. She prefers the term "compassionate
capitalist"
