The Economics of Climate Change
The world economy is a very complex system; in the system harmful externalities disrupt capital flows and determine economic productivity. Most
notable of these externalities is inadvertent global warming. Spending towards research and regulation of climate change at both the national and
international level are very important in determining current and future business trends. Economists and scientists worldwide continuously debate the
pros and cons of emissions reduction and what consequences can quickly follow. Though many have different views on the issue, all can agree that the
immediate and long term effects of climate change have become an economic matter of paramount importance. The sweeping impact from climate
change will have important fiscal, financial, and macroeconomic ramifications that influence global commerce standards.
"In the absence of concerted action by the world's governments, anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions will cause global temperatures to increase
between 3 and 8 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century" (Ranson 2). Gradually, this rise in temperature causes changing precipitation patterns, rising
sea levels, and a decrease in snow cover that enables a broad range of climatic shifts to take place. Considering such sudden environmental decay, there
is a very limited time frame to gather scientific data that shape public and foreign policy. Therefore,

How Does Economic Growth Contribute To Climate Change?
Introduction
While industrialization has been strongly associated with greenhouse gas emissions, it is premature, however, to conclude that economic growth is the
independent factor responsible to climate change. Neumayer (1998) contended that there is no sound scientific evidence documenting consequences of
economic development on the environmental degradation in the long term (p. 4). There is also no linear association between economic growth and
environmental deterioration, as maintained by Ferguson et al. (1996, p. 28) that the existing evidence "cannot be used to justify a view that economic
growth (...) will automatically be good or bad for the environment" (cited in Neumayer 1998, p. 16).
The climate change impacts of greenhouse gases threaten the economic development and environmental quality. These threats indicate that all nations
regardless their economic growth should work collaboratively to reduce the emission to a certain level. Hare et al. (2011) argued that "climate change is
a collective action problem" thus requires a global coordination from all countries. This indicates that actions from several countries would never be
sufficient to address the climate change problem. If a global target to limit warming to 2В°C or below is about to achieve (UNFCCC 2010, p.4) a
broad range of participation is required (Hare et al., 2011). However, the increasing complexity of negotiation processes is inevitable. Each country will
pursue its own interests during the

Economic perspective of Climate change Climate is an average weather condition during a region in a given period, it will not change by one day or
one night, but instead caused through over time. From the perspective of meteorology, The climate change refers to a specific location, time of regional
or global climate change or conversion, based on the all of the conditions associated with the average weather characteristics, such as temperature, wind
and precipitation etc. According to the IPCC's Synthesis Report, "Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have increased since the pre–industrial era,
driven largely by economic and population growth, and are now higher than ever. This has led to atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide,
methane and nitrous oxide that are unprecedented in at least the last 800,000 years. Their effects, together with those of other anthropogenic drivers,
have been detected throughout the climate system and are extremely likely to have been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the
mid–20th century" (Page4) Human are the main reason to cause the climate change. While during the climate changing in naturally, human activities
have altered the chemical composition of the atmosphere, causing the today's climate change. And this change is not only hindering the progress and
development of society but also affect human society and the survival of

Over the past three decades, China has been undergoing economic reforms and changes to its political structure from communism towards a more
market–oriented system. It's changing political structure has been described in various terms such as pro–growth authoritarianism (Lai, 2010), a
variegated form of state–permeated capitalism (Brink, 2013), refurbished state capitalism (McNally, 2013), and a social–capitalist model (Degen,
2011). All these terms suggest that China has been shifting towards a more market–oriented system but continue to take a state–centric approach. Deng
Xiaoping described this system as a Socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics. This hybrid social–capitalist or social–communist model

Thus, this paper examines the complications of China's political structure and aims to determine if it is economically beneficial.
In order to clearly understand the implications of this political structure on China's economy, this paper will discuss the following sections:
1.What is China's current GDP growth rate?
2.What is China's political structure like?
3.Are there underlying problems arising from its political structure?
4.What is the impact on its economy?
What is China's current GDP Growth rate?
China's economy has been largely influenced by political activities before the 1990s. Several economic reforms had already been put in to place since
1978 but the defining change was only triggered in 1992 with the speech by Mr. Deng Xiaoping, where he affirmed the nation of their shift towards a
market–oriented system (Chen, Quan, & Liu, 2013).
Empirical data represented in Figure 1a & 1b shows the rapid change in China's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) that
started from 1992 (Chen, Quan, & Liu, 2013). It has a relatively high average GDP growth of 10% per year over the last 30 years and its greatest
increase occurred between 2001 and 2007 with an average of 11.6% (Malkiel, et al., 2008). This equates to a GDP growth increase of nearly

The Effects Of Climate Change On Social, Political, And...
In Egypt, the same word for bread is life. Food security and clean water are indispensable to survival, and how do societies react when exogenous
variables prohibit access to the basic staples of life? Manfred Steger speaks briefly on globalization and environmental degradation and fails to draw
real conclusions about the impact of climate change on social, political, and economic stability. In Steger's A Brief Introduction to Globalization, he
contends that, "how people view their natural environment depends to a great extent on their cultural milieu... [And] the US–dominated culture
industry seeks to convince its global audience that the meaning and chief value of life can be found in the limitless accumulation of material
possessions" (2003, p. 86). He later contends that a "revision" of our current extractivist–oriented cultural regime must occur as a response to our
pleading planet, as if only culture were to blame (2003, p. 92). This paper underlines the connectedness of climate change and social unrest and uses
case studies from the Arab Spring to color the arching narrative that the awakening was catalyzed and intensified by climate change.
Egypt and Unsuspecting Syria
The normal consensus is that rising food prices helped create the conditions for the Arab Spring (Klein 2014). Laying the data out suggests a stronger
correlation of climate change and revolution sensitivity. Thomas L. Friedman, three–time Pulitzer Prize winner and columnist for the New York Times

Significant Economic Changes In The United States
In the past 10 years, there have been numerous economic changes in the united states. Between inflation, unemployment, the GDP and changes in
government leadership, how money is spent and saved regularly changed throughout the decade. These economic habits can be different based on age,
race, gender, location, education levels, and spending habits reflect each of these variables. Today i will explore these variables, how things have
recently changed based on then, and how i believe things will change in the near future.
There isn't a pattern in the last 10 years for inflation changing. Inflation currently for October is 2.0, in October of last year it was 1.6 so it raised
quite a bit in the last year. But in October 2007 inflation was 3.5, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The labor force participation rate ages 16 years and over in January 2010 was at 64.8 and in January 2017 it was at 62.9 so it dropped a little since
2010. I think that it's just going to get lower and lower in the future because that's the progress it has been in the last 10 years.
GDP now is in the US is 3.3%, GDP has lowered in the last 10 years. In 2007 the GDP in the US was 4.40%. There isn't a pattern for how much it
changed in 10 years it kind of went up and down since 2007. In the future I think that GDP will raise more and more.
I am going to tell you how Hawaii is doing economically. Hawaii's inflation rate has doubled to 2% in 2016. For unemployment in Hawaii, its
relatively low. Since the recession in 2009 Hawaii has been 2 to 3% lower than the national rate. In 2011 70% men 16 years or older were in the
labor force and 60% of women 16 years or older were in the labor force. The GDP in hawaii in 2016 was $84.7 billion and ranked 38th in the united
states. In 2006 the GDP in Hawaii was $62.1 billion and still was ranked 38th in the united states. I think that the GDP in Hawaii is going to get higher
because it has gotten higher in the last ten years and It should continue to get higher. Hawaii also has the highest rate of poverty in the

The Economic And Social Changes During The 1960s Under The...
Life in America began to undergo great economic and social changes during the 1980s under the Reagan Administration. During this period of time,
stagflation began to distress the US economy, leaving millions of Americans to fall victim to homelessness and poverty. The unemployment rate had
reached its highest peak since the Great Depression, creating a major crisis for low–income families and other individuals concerning living
conditions. The introduction of Reaganism into society primarily focused on reducing the growth of government spending through the modulation of
federal income tax and reduction of government regulation to diminish inflation. Despite all attempts for economic recovery, the US struggled to
bounce back from the 1970s recession and in time led to the significant rise in urban poverty. Uniquely, an American film director from the 1980s by
the name of John Carpenter produced a science–fiction film, They Live, that served as a powerful and eye–opening depiction of his own personal
views of Reaganism (Reaganomics). He essentially depicts our world to be controlled by powerful elites who have created a repressive society that
we are unwilling brought to live and build in. He also clarifies how the majority of Americans during the 1980s were focused primarily on materialism
and how an individual's "success" was measured by the amount of money they possessed. Carpenter's major criticisms of 1980s America included the
impact of consumerism in America as well as

What Impact Did the Major Political, Economic and Social...
Japan's goal of achieving fukoku kyohei, "rich country; strong military", fuelled major political, economic and social changes during the Meiji
Restoration. By the 20th century, Japan had a modern constitution and national parliament, though it was not truly democratic. The modernization of
the nation also made Japan richer and more economically stable, with a structured education system. Japan, an impotent, closed feudal state, was
transformed into a formidable nation focused on nationalism. In attempt to acquire strength and unity in the government, political changes focused on
creating a centralized government and a western constitution. In consequence, the Japanese government became more united and organized. As the

By the end of the Meiji Restoration, Japan had taken its inevitable part in the international scene. As the government and economy adjusted, the society
took on many changes as well, such as the adoption of the Western culture, a reform in the education system, and the instillation of nationalism in
Japan. The desire to be perceived as an equal by Westerners resulted in the adoption of the Western culture in the Japanese society. There were changes
in the fashion as well as food and cuisine. Western–style haircuts were ubiquitous in the Japanese streets during 1870, while the introduction to bread,
beef and dairy products made their way to the community subsequently. With the aim of a modernized society, the Meiji government also found an
organized education system a vital aspect, thus instituting the Terokoya system. This change in education also launched the establishment of the
Ministry of Education, which had an aim of providing education for all people. In 1868, almost 13,000 terakoyas were constructed with 837,000
students. (Miocevich, 30) By 1910, an immense advancement was made, as 98% of Japanese students were given compulsory education. (Miocevich,
30) Clearly, the Japanese had made education a priority. Finally, nationalism was probably the most prominent change in the Japanese society during
the Meiji Restoration. As Japan grew stronger as a

Economic Changes In America
The United States was changing from an agricultural society to an industrial society. With this came along new opportunities, a new way of life, not
only for Americans, but outsiders as well. America was rapidly changing and with that so was the economy, society, culture, and political views.
Americans started to get frightened with the rapid change and the immigrants coming on their land. The economy was changing, becoming industrial
and with this came factories, new markets, large businesses, and this brought new immigrants to the US. People from other countries were being
driven out by religion and poverty and started to come to the US to learn how to be a factory worker, a welder, and engineer. By expanding their
borders the US gained a new workforce. People came from Ireland, Germany, Russia, and other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Americans saw them as a threat, that they would take all of their jobs because of their cheap labor. To keep them out Congress passed the Chinese
Exclusion Act to stop the immigration of the Chinese. The economy brought new jobs and with that new immigrants looking for jobs, they were seen
as stealing the jobs of the Americans, which lead to hatred and violence towards them. Even though many Americans did not like the immigrants they
made the economy stronger, bringing more wealth to America and brought the unemployment rates down. The economy was full of jobs that needed
to be filled and the immigrants came to do so, but this brought upheaval between the races. Society was full of large buildings, the noises of trolley
cars and trains, and the hustle of city life. Society was coming alive,

Explain How the Social and Economic Changes Affected Gaucho Life
Due to the huge migration to Latin America, foreigners introduced the gauchos to many changes that would have a lasting effect. Two of the main
changes felt by the gauchos included social and economic restructuring. One must understand that history about the gauchos can potentially be biased.
This is due to the fact that only news that is interesting is reported and only bad news is interesting. This clash of recorded history and actual history
causes us to question what actually occurred during this time period. The gauchos' lifestyle suffered greatly because of these social and economic
changes. New institutions, values and beliefs all aided the transformation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gauchos' social lives covered many interesting areas. These traditional acts decreased because of the new laws. Previously, gauchos would roam the
pampa, continuously moving onward to unknown destinations. This freedom became restricted with the invention of the fence. The fence also
impacted other areas of the gauchos' lives including economically. The fence forced thechange from a ranching to farming. The need for ranchers
decreased, which put gauchos out of work. These fences also kept animals contained to specific pastures. Before this gauchos would kill roaming
horses for fun, cattle for food and skins, and ostrich for feathers. These fences set territories that kept the gaucho from wandering freely. Another
change that kept the gaucho from wandering freely involved vagrancy laws. The government targeted to the gaucho and aimed to get rid of them, or at
least tame them. Gauchos now had to carry something similar to a travel permit. This again restricted their unique lifestyle. Because the government
viewed the gauchos as good fighters, they enlisted many to serve in the military. This impacted their lives socially and economically. Gauchos' social
lives slowed down enormously because of the military. They had to work continuously. Economically they benefited because they no longer had to
look for ways to support their basic needs. The government took care of making them sustain life.

Relationship between the Change in Shapes in Yield Curves...
Letter of Transmittal
Introduction
This assignment is to study the relationship between the change in shapes of yield curves and change in economic prospect of an economy. In this
study, Australia and America are selected for the detailed analysis of the topic. Time series data from December 2009, December 2010, December
2011, December 2012 and the most updated May 2013 will be collected for further analysis.
The study will be divided into 4 parts. Below we will explain briefly how we will handle the tasks.
Task 1:
We will plot the yield curves of Australia and America using the yield data of Australian Treasury notes and government bonds as well as the U.S.
Treasury bills. Then, we will relate the curve shapes to expectation theory of the interest rates for further explanations.
Task 2:
We will discuss the relationship between the change in the slope of yield curves and the change in the prospect of economy by plotting the graphs of
slop change in yield curves for Australia and America. Data with a higher frequency will be collected for more detailed study.
Task 3:
We will look in to how effective the RBA and the FED have done on the change inmonetary policy and how these policies affected the yield curves
respectively. Actions taken to deal with the impact from financial tsunami in 2008 will be target of our discussion.
Task 4:
We will conclude the findings above and try to give out opinions on how the investors and policy makers should do to achieve a better

After various changes to the economic tax and interest rate, CPHP have conducted and compiled research into current public spending. The results
show that there has been a dramatic reduction in the level of public spending in the UK.
The changes in economic environment will affect a business, the profit of the business will be affected because its affect the price and income of a

This will affect Tesco growth because the loans will affect their income, cash flow and business image. Tesco will pay more and profit will drop.
Tesco also have social factors that affect them, as the business have charity centre in helping the less privilege people and the more these people gets
poor, the more they will have to stretch to help out which also spending money.
Recession causes unemployment, this will affect the demand for goods and Tesco profit will drop.
An economic factor that might affect Tesco is the demand of the consumer andcustomer which will decrease with the different problems; people are
having in the world. As the demand decrease so the economy of the business will decrease and the profit of the business will decrease too. This refers
in the fiscal and monetary, for example since when the government decided to raise the VAT from 17.5% to 20%, the business increase their goods
price and due to that reason the customers do not purchase enough goods like they used.
Social factors refer in the trend of customer which keeps changing their trend, and what the trend of their purchase. For example nowadays due to
people's work, they are really busy so they often decide to buy already cooked food.
Technology refers in how Tesco adopt online shopping to attract customer, to purchase goods and services from the business. Another technology might

The Theory Of Economic Change
Introduction Change is often seen as a destabilizing element, but it is necessary for a company to change since it enables to adapt to the environment
and its evolutions. But before applying any change, the company needs to strategically reflect on the change management and implement a
management team that will be able to support the contributors in order to anticipate and then fight the resistance to change. The theory of economic
change (R. Nelson and S. Winter, 1982) highlights the ability for a company to adapt to environmental evolutions thanks to its learning capacity. A

It refers to the process that accompanies the life of any business dealing with instability and development of its environment. The 'change management'
means the entire process that goes from the perception of an organizational problem in defining a framework of actions that enables the development,
selection and implementation of a solution under optimal conditions for success. Different types propose a classification of the different changes that
can take place within a company. Among these include a classification that examines the areas of change: economic, legal, social, technological,
ecological, cultural, political, organizational, and strategic while another studied the change according to its characteristics: global or partial, slow or
fast, marginal or major. Similarly, according to that change is marginal or major; it is possible to distinguish different degrees of changes: the setting,
the reform, restructuring or even the rebuilding. While the adjustment and reform are conventionally managed by the company in its daily operations,
restructuring and rebuilding, for their part, are true organizational change.
Both types of change lead to a real transformation of the processes at work in the company and a real "cultural revolution." These changes, by their
propensity to generate resistance, must be subject to special management. Change can also be studied, according to the behaviour adopted:
led–directed, spontaneous or planned (typology of H. Mintzberg).

Incorporate climate risk assessment in to capital expenditure and balance sheets.
Institute policies to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Introduction: Climate change is a real issue that can lead to severe economic losses to the public and private sectors of the U.S., not mentioning human
casualties. This report focuses on the general effects of the climate change in the economic sector affecting businesses specifically in the Southeastern
region of the U.S. and Texas. Climate change will cost millions of dollars in labor productivity decline, energy demand will significantly increase, and
the agricultural sector will suffer considerably losses.
General Trends
The southeastern United States and Texas will face significant economic risks from the continuous climate change. The risks vary from different
states, which will be explained in general. Texas is going to be focused deeply in separate. Despite the variability in each region, we can identify some
general trends in how the states in the southeastern United States and Texas will react to the climate change.
Increasing heat: the southeastern region of the U.S. is more likely to have a considerably rise in temperature than any other region of the nation.

Literacy, Opportunity, And Economic Change
This critique will be of chapter one of the book Literacy in American Lives. The author of this book is Dr. Deborah Brandt, a professor of English
at Wisconsin Madison University and her main focus in Literacy in American Lives is to study about how people have learned to read, how they
use their ability to read, and how literacy learning changes with time. In this first chapter "Literacy, Opportunity, and Economic Change", Brandt
focuses on how economic change can affect the value of literacy, and the impact that this change in the value of literacy has in the lives of two farm
women from Wisconsin. For the main evidence of her work in chapter one Brandt goes into the personal stories of two women by which she has
given the names Martha Day and Barbara Hunt. Martha Day grew up on a farm in a time near the 1920's; she did well in high school but did not pursue
a higher education because, according to Day, they didn't push girls like they did men back then (Brandt). She married a book keeper and became a
small town journalist when her Sunday school teacher, who also happened to be the editor of the local paper, asked her to manage a monthly news

Economic Changes In The South Essay
There were many changes to the South after a long and brutal Civil War. The most significant of these, was the change to the overall economic system
of the South. After Slavery and the cotton industry was shattered, the South was left with figuring out how to fix a once rich land founded on slavery.
The first example of economic change in the South was in how African Americans began to support themselves economically. Plantations in the South
were virtually workerless after African Americans were emancipated. Not only that, they were left economically in debt from the destruction caused
by the Civil War. This left the Plantation owners at a loss of ability to function and since most African Americans didn't want to go back to work for
plantation owners, the Black Codes were created. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sharecropping involved a landlord giving land for tenants to farm for a share of the crop. Tenants rented this land and were also given supplies by
their landlord such as seed, farming equipment and fertilizer. Of course, these supplies were also rented and often the only person the tenant was
allowed to sell their crop to, was their landlord. The landlord decided what prices were available to the tenant and how much things cost. Often
crops were unpredictable and landlords were very unfair with their prices. This would leave the tenants in debt that would carry over year after year.
This, in a way, tied the tenants to the land so that they could never leave the landlord and left them in a constant state of crippling poverty. According
to PBS.com, two thirds of all sharecroppers were white and only one third were black. This of course has room for landlords, but this also implies that
some sharecroppers were white citizens left in complete poverty after the Civil War. Overall, the biggest changes in the south were clearly economic
and did not only affect the African American population, but the European population as

Economic Growth Between Economy And Institutional Changes
Lots of empirical research has studied links between economy and institutional changes. In order for an economy to flourish, certain legal and social
institutions, such as property rights, government policy, trade and finance, must be in place.
Since its founding, especially after the 1980s, China has experienced a series of economic reforms, such as the development of
non–government–owned industrial economy, the opening–up policy. Unprecedented growth occurred in China, with its economy increase by 9.5% a
year. Meanwhile, sharp regional disparity becomes one of the biggest development challenges China is facing, with metropolitan areas of the eastern

Then the thesis uses a Cobb–Douglas production function to make empirical analyses. The thesis eventually reaches the conclusion that institutional
change factor has a significant positive impact on economic growth. Gross product will increase by 0.19% when institutional factors increase by 1%.
But its contribution to output is twice less than that of capital accumulation. Additionally, according to error correcting model, in short term, the
institutional factor are not significant, indicating that institutional changes influence economy development through a long–term channel.
The rest of this thesis is organized as below. Literatures review is in Chapter 2. Chapter 3 introduces methology as well as data preparations. In

Changes That Affect the Economic Environment in Business
Introduction
For this task I shall explain the changes in the economic environment on the business. This may include changes within the following,
Business cycle
Inflation
Unemployment
International trade
The business that that I will be looking at is Whitbread who own Premier Inn and Costa coffee. I will be explaining within this task how the above
may affect Whitbread and its two companies Costa and Premier inn whether it is for the better or worse.
Business cycle
When looking at a graph of a business cycle we can expect to see increases and falls in production, income and expenditure of a company over time.
The economy of the U.K, moves from boom to recession over time and these changes within the economy have major ... Show more content on

This will also affect trade as If the UK has higher inflation than competitor countries (which it isn't now, but it has been for a lot of the last few
decades) then UK prices gradually rise above imported prices. More imports are bought, so demand leaks out of the country and leaves UK
businesses in a weak position such as Premier inn and Costa Coffee so overall inflation is not a good thing if it does occur and will have a negative
effect on Whitbread's businesses.
Unemployment
High unemployment rates especially within the countries that Whitbread operate their businesses, Costs and Premier inn can have a great effect on
business operations as high unemployment will mean that more people will be relying on benefits for survival and as a result will be spending less,
this would in turn affect businesses such as Premier inn and costa coffee as no one will be using their products and services which will then effect
profits which would mean that they would have to halt growth and cut staff which are all negative factors as a result. This means when Whitbread are
planning on expanding within different countries they will carefully have to look at these factors. Since consumers have lower confidence in the
strength of the economy and less to spend, demand for products and services drops, and

From 1850 to 1930 Sweden lived deep changes, but all social improvements occurred with different political situation that came in succession during
the years. In 1867 the old liberals founded the Ministerial Party with the objective to defend the reforms. A little group of people created the
Neoliberal Party that proposed both economic freedom and more cultural and political freedoms (such as more rights for women and an increasing
democracy). In any event the dominant party was the Rural Men's Party. It defended the farmer interests, even if the Rural Men's Party had some
liberal elements. Indeed it wanted reduce the taxes and give more power to people who weren't in the Stockholm establishment. So at the end all were

Changes In Emma's Economic Development
There are many changes and continuities that have taken place since Emma's birth in 2001. Throughout this period, there have been economic and
political changes that have occurred and continuities as well. Her economic development has changed in that she has a source of income by a casual
occupation and has stayed the same in that she is still living under her parents who fund her for many things. Her political development has changed
in that she has developed her own opinion and stance on current issues and has stayed the same as it has been influenced by her parents from a very
young age. These changes have been more prominent in her life, by affecting her in bigger ways such as influencing her actions, her maturity, and her
opinions. Ever

Social And Economic Changes In America Essay
In the 35 years between 1865 and 1900, more social and economic change took place in American then in all of its history prior. The Civil War brought
about a huge amount of change in politics and ushered in the Industrial Age. With this boom in industry also came the socioeconomic transfiguration in
America from rural dwelling to city living. Population boomed and residency in cities like Chicago increased fifty–fold. This city boom came with the
invention of the elevator and new building techniques for building taller buildings. Also, expanding public transportation and super stores like Macy's
and Marshall Field's provided the means for inhabitants to function. Everything was not sunshine and roses during this social revolution though. Waste
removal couldn't keep up the increase in refuse and it inevitably filled the streets. Economic success and the promise of a new life brought millions of
rural Americans and immigrants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People like Noble Peace Prize winner Jane Addams, who was part of the first wave of college educated women, started organizations like the Hull
House, which educated people, provided childcare, counseling, and eventually became a front for women's activism. Church's also helped the
community as well. Originally, city culture hurt the popularity of religion, after a few new philosophies were established, mainstream church's quickly
gained popularity. Other religious groups like the Salvation Army and the YMCA/YWCA also contributed to the community and to the spread of the
gospel. Darwin's hypothesis of evolution created a rift in the church as the idea became more accepted. One faction of the church, appalled by the

Systematic Economic Change And Poverty Reduction

Systematic Economic Change and Poverty Reduction: The Effects of Governance on Inequality Liberalization is a term that has dominated the minds,
and governments of Latin America from the advent of the region–encompassing debt–crisis of the 1980s. Many reforms, with the idea of opening up
the market and reducing barriers to trade in order to increase growth, control inflation, and reduce social unrest, have taken hold in the region in notable
countries such as Mexico. In, "Programs on Poverty and Inequality: Chile, Mexico, and Peru," John Sheahan explores the reasons as to why
liberalization programs have seemingly worked in some countries, and have had lackluster effects in others. Chile, for example, is often cited as the
shining beacon of economic example in Latin America, and is also grouped in with the East Asian economies that developed to the level of Western
Europe from the 1980s onwards. Conversely, Mexico has had disappointing growth that has never recovered to pre–1980s levels, along with social
unrest and failures in governance. This paper will explore the questions: Why does poverty persist so much in some countries in the region e.g.
Mexico, and Peru to a lesser extent, and why does it seem effectively controlled in other parts, such as in Chile? Sheahan argues that direct social
programs are increasing in popularity as effective forms of controlling the negative effects of liberalization reforms, but that they

The Populist Party, Political And Economic Changes Did The...
1. What economic issues gave rise to the Populist Party, and what political and economic changes did the party advocate? Why were they considered
so radical? Due to "...falling agricultural prices and growing economic dependency" (Foner 636) in the mid–nineteenth century, farmers in the South
began to face inevitable economic uncertainty. Farmers, both white and black alike, were thrown into poverty due to sharecropping and the fall of the
price of cotton, and many faced the fear of losing everything they had due the inability to pay bank loans. Believing that their situation was caused by
"...high freight rates...excessive interest rates for loans...and the fiscal policies of the government" (Foner 636), disgruntled farmers hoped to better
their lives and conditions through the founding of the Farmers' Alliance in the 1870s. However, by the 1890s, the Alliance transformed into what
became known as the Populist Party. Keeping their roots in mind, the Populists sought to end what they considered political corruption and economic
inequality that arose during the Reconstruction. In order to do so, they proposed "...the direct election of U.S. senators, government control of currency,
a graduated income tax, a system of low–class public financing...the right of workers to form labor unions...[and a] public ownership of the railroads"
(Foner 638). In addition to their propositions, the Populists were considered radical due to their embracement of science and technology, their belief

Globalization, Technology, And Political Economic Change
Globalization, Technology, and Political Economic Change in the Modern Era The institutions which characterize modern European and American
political economies have existed since the Great Depression. These institutions were established to set formal rules dictating how economic agents
interact and how governments organize these agents. By examining these institutions and the coalitional relationships and complementarities that they
form, economists David Soskice and Peter Hall identify two organizational forms, which they term two "varieties of capitalism" (VoC)– the
coordinated market economy (CME), which describes Germany and other states with centralized wage setting, and the liberal market economy (LME),
representative of the United States where individual actors and market forces set wages . However, international economic and technological changes
are altering the economic landscape, exemplified by growing wealth inequality, and how nations interact, potentially redefining the institutions by
which these economies are identified. Globalization is defined as increasing integration of economic institutions, decreasing costs of communication
and liberating trade . The decreasing costs of doing business around the world are changing how firms are managed and how they invest, potentially
blurring the lines between CMEs and LMEs. Technology has induced a transition from the Fordist economy of post–World War Two toward a
service–based economy. This transformation has

Economic Changes In The United States
Does the economy changing effect the country? The economy changing has many differing factors to determine how society is run. An economy
change will greatly impact the people it'll also impact the way they live. But you need change to grow and get better. Economic change also impacts
culture and politics, society and technology. Economic changes everything and everyone for better or for worse.
A great example of this is back in the 1800's with Boss Tweed and his rain of terror. He knew how to manipulate people to do what he wanted. And in
this time period there were many immigrants coming into the united states from all over. They came from a different countries with different
governments so they didn't understand the government in the United States. They didn't understand democracy, they didn't understand that they had
the power, they didn't understand that they had human rights. So Boss Tweed took advantage of this he promised them food and shelter for their vote

There was an endless flow of immigrants coming into america in the 1900's and industries were blooming everywhere and new jobs were opening up
all over the place. These immigrants that were coming in worked for less so the companies hired more of them which raised unemployment to new
heights. But getting here wasn't easy at all, they were discriminated against because of the way they looked. They didn't look like the "native"
americans so they weren't american and shouldn't be allowed to come into america.
The economy changing effects the people and how they live greatly. It could be for the better or for worse but that depends on how you look at it.
Because there was the industrial era which was just terrible for the immigrants. But then you have the progressive era and that was all based on making
it better for everyone. So an economic change can be interpreted in many different

Demographic And Socio Economic Changes
Demographic and socio–economic changes effect cities, its economy and ultimately the country as a whole. Changes in demographics tells us if an
area is losing or gaining population and may act accordingly to help it survive. Family patterns change over a period of time as more women go out
for jobs rather than stay at home. As medical field advances, the life span of human increases and these changes can show that the median age of the
population is growing. Setting up of new industries or business houses in a city might bring in the working population and help in improving the
economic condition of the area.
This report presents some of the demographic and socio–economic data collected from American Community Survey 1 Year Estimates for the years
2006, 2009 and 2012 w.r.t. 203 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) in United States of America. These MSA have been selected as the most
populated MSA in USA for the year 2012.
The most populous MSA in USA included a few MSA from Puerto Rico and Alaska and was removed to focus only on Mainland USA. It was also
observed that most of the MSA when plotted on the map of USA are in East USA (155 MSA). Montana and Wyoming did not have any MSA
among these 203 MSA. For the purpose of this report, Microsoft Excel and Tableau where used to store, clean and plot the data. Summary Tables for
the parameters which were selected to compare these MSA are presented in Table 1.

East Germany: One Can Change An Economic System
A few of my colleagues have already touched upon Lech Walesa's quote that "one can change a political system overnight, but to change an economic
system takes years." If by far one thing is sure that is that a political system can be changed through coups, revolutions and elections. However, an
economic system cannot be changed that easily and in order for it to take place a few factors such as time – sometimes entire generations, patience and
functional government institution establishments are necessary.
To better explain this fact, I will share the example of East Germany (DDR). It all started in 1989 when the Berlin Wall (symbol of the cold war) – the
barrier between not only east and west, but also communism and capitalism, fell. I still

Rauchway's argument was that Roosevelt was more for social, economic, and political change, while McKinley was more for the industrial,
economic change. The author supports their argument by explaining to the reader the beliefs of both representatives and the impact they made on the
citizens of America. For example, McKinley was an advocate for industrialization, bettering the economy and also expanding out aspirations by
making us an international colonial empire instead of being just a continental republic. (Rauchway, pg.6) However, by this being done it caused for
child labor to increase and poverty to increase. Which was a reason why Czolgosz, a Polish immigrant that was poor and worked in factories in order
to survived, killed McKinley because he couldn't take the absurd political conviction; he believed that Republicans were in politics for the money.

social issues happening within the country, by going out into the streets of New York and reviewing the data of immigration and the child labor

Critics frequently use the term tar sands, whereas industry and governments lean more towards the oil sands. This is a result of the nuances associated
with the word tar as being something that is dirty or less valuable than oil and more importantly, the abandonment of the word tar sands comes from an
insistent and well–funded strategy to frame oil in a positive light to increase profits for the big oil companies and provincial governments involved.
With the adoption of the 'oil sands' into the everyday vernacular, the tar sands' controversial and threatening characteristics become more and more

Economic Changes Of Education : Economic Changes In Education
Economic Changes in Education– Economic changes have an affect on children across America. Many students face poverty, may be homeless, or
come from family of migrant workers. These students may have difficulties in school because they have a lot going on at home that affect their
ability to focus in school. These students may not have access to proper nutrition or health care when needed. They may have a medical condition
that has not been treated. They may be going to school hungry or distracted. They also may not be receiving proper care at home. Homeless
students may not attend school because they are moving place to place. Those that do may perform poorly or lack certain skills. They may also feel
lonely and isolated from their peers. Migrant students move around with their families and often are starting new schools. They have to adjust to their
new school, the instruction, and teachers. They may also have difficulties understanding English. It is important for teachers to have a positive
attitude and to welcome all students every day. Teachers should get to know their students in order to know how to help them best. Teachers should
have a set routine that is easy to follow so students know what to expect everyday regardless of what is going on in their home life. Being involved
and collaborating with families may also help the child. Teachers should also create an environment where students can collaborate and work together.
Teachers can also try to help build up

Positive Economic Changes Of Industrial Automation Essay
Positive Economic Changes of Industrial Automation by 2036 When a sect of society is faced with the imminent reality that its lifestyle will be
disrupted by the advent of the latest technology, there ensues a massive ideological regression to the status quo. Historically, polls showed an
aversion to technology, with only 28% of adults labelling themselves as "early adopters" of technology (Pew Research). A low percentage of early
adopters creates a "chasm" of technology adoption, reinforced by the dissent of a vocal minority of technology conservatives. This aversion to
technology is not drawn on by rational, evidence–based conclusions, but rather, apocalyptic premonitions of the poorer livelihoods of average citizens.
The common fear is that automation will kill jobs and create a high unemployment rate. Despite this hyperbolic scenario, the trope offers a starting
point to analyze the scope of economic changes that would occur during a plausible future. The current 20 year period we live in (2016 to 2036) can
be categorized as the genesis of capable, automated machines, which will be referred to as "CAMs," that can take on menial tasks currently done by
humans. This does not cover highly intelligent AI, as they are too distant in the future to accurately predict, refer to Appendix A for more information.
During this period, we will see a future in which CAMs are automated enough to perform menial tasks like burger flipping, cashiering, etc, and

After over a quarter century of sustained economic growth, Indonesia was struck by a major economic crisis at the end of the 20th Century. This paper

Not only has the economy grown rapidly over the last quarter century but there has also been dramatic demographic and social change. Fertility
rates have declined substantially and there have been massive investments in human capital. This can be seen in secondary school enrollment
rates which have risen from a mere 6% in 1960 to more than 50% today; primary school enrollment is essentially universal. (Poppele 1999) The
investments are also reflected in the health of the population: at birth, the average Indonesian today expects to live to the age of 61 which is 50%
longer than he or she expected 30 years ago. Thus, the labor force has not only grown dramatically in size but also in quality. The consequences of
these improvements are reflected in significant rising real wage levels over the last three decades. (Smith 2002) Pride in its past economic
achievements and optimism about its future were suddenly challenged by the economic crisis which was accompanied by dramatic shifts in the
economic and political landscape of the country. As indicated in Figure 1, the rupiah came under pressure in the last half of 1997 when the
exchange rate began showing signs of weakness. After falling by half from around 2,400 per US$ to about 4,800 per US$ by December 1997, the
rupiah collapsed in January 1998 when, over the course of just a few days, the exchange rate fell by 400% to Rp16,000 per US$. Although

Economic Factors
For organizations, there are many concerns with triggers for change in the economic environment. These are not only competitors but also other issues
like exchange rates, tax, wage rates, economic policies and etc. (Cook,2004) Organizations need to look at the level of inflation, employment level per
capita, interest rates and long–term prospects for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, and so on. There are two types of forces in the market
which can affect the competitive position of an organization –other organizations supplying the same products and, buyers who are not buying the

Economics of Carbon Emissions and Climate Change
Economics of Carbon Emissions and Climate Change The economics of climate change is a very controversial and disputed. To even discuss what
should be done economists have to either state whether or not global warming and climate change exist. According to the CATO article, Climate
Change vs. Climate Models (Michaels and Knappenberger, 2013), "The models' estimate of the increase in temperature resulting from a doubling of
carbon dioxide concentration may simply be too high." As questioned in the article, is there such thing as climate change? Next, if climate change does
exist, are carbon emissions a relevant cause of such a phenomena? With all of these questions at hand, how do we deal or cope with the current
environmental state through economic means? Does climate change exist? According to the U.S. Global Research Program (USGRP), climate change
does exist. Not in the sense of immediate and drastic changes in the climate, but a gradual fluctuation in temperatures that have been gathered since the
early 1900's. The empirical data that has been gathered shows a steady increase in the mean maximum temperature recorded in the Canadian Climate
Change Model which is the basis on the 2000 U.S. National Assessment of Climate Change. The original model generated had a sine–like pattern with
a .342В°C difference between the highest crest and lowest trough. This was then proven an unworthy model when the actual empirical data was
recorded with a .169В°C difference. There was

Economics and Change Dimensions of Professional Practice 08/02/2015 Economics and Change Introduction Health care in America is at the
center of controversy. It is a progressive and rapid changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds
created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink of bankruptcy and have not done far enough to
make it more affordable and assessable. Actually America has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most expensive,
but in many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among developed countries (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, & Schoen,
2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government healthcare because the government would find the best
companies to work with in order to provide all types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the government only
for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now pricing for most of American health care comes from a small group of
doctors called the Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is problematic because this committee is
deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of products. If this process was changed then people could use rationalization to determine that a
government ran universal healthcare system would be in the best self–interest. Healthcare Committee Committees are very important in improving and
discussing ways to improve healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that would be assembled, but the most important
one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of what is wrong with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon
itself costs 2,600 dollars to be made. The RUC priced it at 3,000 dollars for each procedure. This balloon can be used up to 6 times before a new one
must be used. Six procedures could be done with one balloon that costs 2,600 dollars and Medicare will

Evaluate The Impact Technological Changes Have Had On The...
Evaluate the impact technological changes have had on the economics of health care and what these changes mean to the health care industry,
addressing at least two (2) changes. There are a myriad of disruptive technologies impacting the economics of healthcare today. Two of the most
disruptive in terms of re–ordering capital expense (CAPEX) spending are cloud computing's impact on medical records management (Corredor,
MartГnez, Familiar, 2011) and telemedicine administered remotely over the Internet (Johansson, Wild, 2010). The economics of healthcare are being
changed both structurally and at the patient experience level, which together are re–ordering the entire value chain of healthcare service delivery and
monitoring. Cloud computing–based medical records management is making it possible for hospitals and treatment centers to have a single, unified
system of record for their current and past patient population (Corredor, MartГnez, Familiar, 2011). This has drastically reduced duplication of records
management systems, minimized reporting and billing errors, and created a highly effective platform for patient–based analytics (Martin, Yen, Tan,
2002). The insights and intelligence gained from the analytics driven from patient systems is also making it possible for healthcare providers to better
redefine process workflows, making hospital operations more cost–effective. The combining of cloud computing platforms and telemedicine is

The Economics Of Climate Change

  • 1. The Economics Of Climate Change Tristan Ridley English 102 Professor Pontillo 28 January 2016 The Economics of Climate Change The world economy is a very complex system; in the system harmful externalities disrupt capital flows and determine economic productivity. Most notable of these externalities is inadvertent global warming. Spending towards research and regulation of climate change at both the national and international level are very important in determining current and future business trends. Economists and scientists worldwide continuously debate the pros and cons of emissions reduction and what consequences can quickly follow. Though many have different views on the issue, all can agree that the immediate and long term effects of climate change have become an economic matter of paramount importance. The sweeping impact from climate change will have important fiscal, financial, and macroeconomic ramifications that influence global commerce standards. "In the absence of concerted action by the world's governments, anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions will cause global temperatures to increase between 3 and 8 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century" (Ranson 2). Gradually, this rise in temperature causes changing precipitation patterns, rising sea levels, and a decrease in snow cover that enables a broad range of climatic shifts to take place. Considering such sudden environmental decay, there is a very limited time frame to gather scientific data that shape public and foreign policy. Therefore, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. How Does Economic Growth Contribute To Climate Change? Introduction While industrialization has been strongly associated with greenhouse gas emissions, it is premature, however, to conclude that economic growth is the independent factor responsible to climate change. Neumayer (1998) contended that there is no sound scientific evidence documenting consequences of economic development on the environmental degradation in the long term (p. 4). There is also no linear association between economic growth and environmental deterioration, as maintained by Ferguson et al. (1996, p. 28) that the existing evidence "cannot be used to justify a view that economic growth (...) will automatically be good or bad for the environment" (cited in Neumayer 1998, p. 16). The climate change impacts of greenhouse gases threaten the economic development and environmental quality. These threats indicate that all nations regardless their economic growth should work collaboratively to reduce the emission to a certain level. Hare et al. (2011) argued that "climate change is a collective action problem" thus requires a global coordination from all countries. This indicates that actions from several countries would never be sufficient to address the climate change problem. If a global target to limit warming to 2В°C or below is about to achieve (UNFCCC 2010, p.4) a broad range of participation is required (Hare et al., 2011). However, the increasing complexity of negotiation processes is inevitable. Each country will pursue its own interests during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Economic Perspective Of Climate Change Luzhen Wu Professor Belfied Eco 228W 5/8/16 Economic perspective of Climate change Climate is an average weather condition during a region in a given period, it will not change by one day or one night, but instead caused through over time. From the perspective of meteorology, The climate change refers to a specific location, time of regional or global climate change or conversion, based on the all of the conditions associated with the average weather characteristics, such as temperature, wind and precipitation etc. According to the IPCC's Synthesis Report, "Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have increased since the pre–industrial era, driven largely by economic and population growth, and are now higher than ever. This has led to atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide that are unprecedented in at least the last 800,000 years. Their effects, together with those of other anthropogenic drivers, have been detected throughout the climate system and are extremely likely to have been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid–20th century" (Page4) Human are the main reason to cause the climate change. While during the climate changing in naturally, human activities have altered the chemical composition of the atmosphere, causing the today's climate change. And this change is not only hindering the progress and development of society but also affect human society and the survival of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Over the past three decades, China has been undergoing... Over the past three decades, China has been undergoing economic reforms and changes to its political structure from communism towards a more market–oriented system. It's changing political structure has been described in various terms such as pro–growth authoritarianism (Lai, 2010), a variegated form of state–permeated capitalism (Brink, 2013), refurbished state capitalism (McNally, 2013), and a social–capitalist model (Degen, 2011). All these terms suggest that China has been shifting towards a more market–oriented system but continue to take a state–centric approach. Deng Xiaoping described this system as a Socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics. This hybrid social–capitalist or social–communist model (Sigley, 2006; Wu,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, this paper examines the complications of China's political structure and aims to determine if it is economically beneficial. In order to clearly understand the implications of this political structure on China's economy, this paper will discuss the following sections: 1.What is China's current GDP growth rate? 2.What is China's political structure like? 3.Are there underlying problems arising from its political structure? 4.What is the impact on its economy? What is China's current GDP Growth rate? China's economy has been largely influenced by political activities before the 1990s. Several economic reforms had already been put in to place since 1978 but the defining change was only triggered in 1992 with the speech by Mr. Deng Xiaoping, where he affirmed the nation of their shift towards a market–oriented system (Chen, Quan, & Liu, 2013). Empirical data represented in Figure 1a & 1b shows the rapid change in China's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) that started from 1992 (Chen, Quan, & Liu, 2013). It has a relatively high average GDP growth of 10% per year over the last 30 years and its greatest increase occurred between 2001 and 2007 with an average of 11.6% (Malkiel, et al., 2008). This equates to a GDP growth increase of nearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Effects Of Climate Change On Social, Political, And... In Egypt, the same word for bread is life. Food security and clean water are indispensable to survival, and how do societies react when exogenous variables prohibit access to the basic staples of life? Manfred Steger speaks briefly on globalization and environmental degradation and fails to draw real conclusions about the impact of climate change on social, political, and economic stability. In Steger's A Brief Introduction to Globalization, he contends that, "how people view their natural environment depends to a great extent on their cultural milieu... [And] the US–dominated culture industry seeks to convince its global audience that the meaning and chief value of life can be found in the limitless accumulation of material possessions" (2003, p. 86). He later contends that a "revision" of our current extractivist–oriented cultural regime must occur as a response to our pleading planet, as if only culture were to blame (2003, p. 92). This paper underlines the connectedness of climate change and social unrest and uses case studies from the Arab Spring to color the arching narrative that the awakening was catalyzed and intensified by climate change. Egypt and Unsuspecting Syria The normal consensus is that rising food prices helped create the conditions for the Arab Spring (Klein 2014). Laying the data out suggests a stronger correlation of climate change and revolution sensitivity. Thomas L. Friedman, three–time Pulitzer Prize winner and columnist for the New York Times ... • 6. Significant Economic Changes In The United States In the past 10 years, there have been numerous economic changes in the united states. Between inflation, unemployment, the GDP and changes in government leadership, how money is spent and saved regularly changed throughout the decade. These economic habits can be different based on age, race, gender, location, education levels, and spending habits reflect each of these variables. Today i will explore these variables, how things have recently changed based on then, and how i believe things will change in the near future. There isn't a pattern in the last 10 years for inflation changing. Inflation currently for October is 2.0, in October of last year it was 1.6 so it raised quite a bit in the last year. In 2007 the GDP in the US was 4.40%. There isn't a pattern for how much it changed in 10 years it kind of went up and down since 2007. In the future I think that GDP will raise more and more. I am going to tell you how Hawaii is doing economically. Hawaii's inflation rate has doubled to 2% in 2016. For unemployment in Hawaii, its relatively low. Since the recession in 2009 Hawaii has been 2 to 3% lower than the national rate. In 2011 70% men 16 years or older were in the labor force and 60% of women 16 years or older were in the labor force. The GDP in hawaii in 2016 was $84.7 billion and ranked 38th in the united states. In 2006 the GDP in Hawaii was $62.1 billion and still was ranked 38th in the united states. I think that the GDP in Hawaii is going to get higher because it has gotten higher in the last ten years and It should continue to get higher. Hawaii also has the highest rate of poverty in the ... • 7. The Economic And Social Changes During The 1960s Under The... Life in America began to undergo great economic and social changes during the 1980s under the Reagan Administration. During this period of time, stagflation began to distress the US economy, leaving millions of Americans to fall victim to homelessness and poverty. The unemployment rate had reached its highest peak since the Great Depression, creating a major crisis for low–income families and other individuals concerning living conditions. The introduction of Reaganism into society primarily focused on reducing the growth of government spending through the modulation of federal income tax and reduction of government regulation to diminish inflation. Despite all attempts for economic recovery, the US struggled to bounce back from the 1970s recession and in time led to the significant rise in urban poverty. Uniquely, an American film director from the 1980s by the name of John Carpenter produced a science–fiction film, They Live, that served as a powerful and eye–opening depiction of his own personal views of Reaganism (Reaganomics). He essentially depicts our world to be controlled by powerful elites who have created a repressive society that we are unwilling brought to live and build in. He also clarifies how the majority of Americans during the 1980s were focused primarily on materialism and how an individual's "success" was measured by the amount of money they possessed. Carpenter's major criticisms of 1980s America included the impact of consumerism in America as well as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. What Impact Did the Major Political, Economic and Social... Japan's goal of achieving fukoku kyohei, "rich country; strong military", fuelled major political, economic and social changes during the Meiji Restoration. By the 20th century, Japan had a modern constitution and national parliament, though it was not truly democratic. The modernization of the nation also made Japan richer and more economically stable, with a structured education system. Japan, an impotent, closed feudal state, was transformed into a formidable nation focused on nationalism. In attempt to acquire strength and unity in the government, political changes focused on creating a centralized government and a western constitution. In consequence, the Japanese government became more united and organized. As the western... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the end of the Meiji Restoration, Japan had taken its inevitable part in the international scene. As the government and economy adjusted, the society took on many changes as well, such as the adoption of the Western culture, a reform in the education system, and the instillation of nationalism in Japan. The desire to be perceived as an equal by Westerners resulted in the adoption of the Western culture in the Japanese society. There were changes in the fashion as well as food and cuisine. Western–style haircuts were ubiquitous in the Japanese streets during 1870, while the introduction to bread, beef and dairy products made their way to the community subsequently. With the aim of a modernized society, the Meiji government also found an organized education system a vital aspect, thus instituting the Terokoya system. This change in education also launched the establishment of the Ministry of Education, which had an aim of providing education for all people. In 1868, almost 13,000 terakoyas were constructed with 837,000 students. (Miocevich, 30) By 1910, an immense advancement was made, as 98% of Japanese students were given compulsory education. (Miocevich, 30) Clearly, the Japanese had made education a priority. Finally, nationalism was probably the most prominent change in the Japanese society during the Meiji Restoration. With this came along new opportunities, a new way of life, not only for Americans, but outsiders as well. America was rapidly changing and with that so was the economy, society, culture, and political views. Americans started to get frightened with the rapid change and the immigrants coming on their land. The economy was changing, becoming industrial and with this came factories, new markets, large businesses, and this brought new immigrants to the US. • 10. Explain How the Social and Economic Changes Affected... Explain How the Social and Economic Changes Affected Gaucho Life Due to the huge migration to Latin America, foreigners introduced the gauchos to many changes that would have a lasting effect. Two of the main changes felt by the gauchos included social and economic restructuring. One must understand that history about the gauchos can potentially be biased. This is due to the fact that only news that is interesting is reported and only bad news is interesting. This clash of recorded history and actual history causes us to question what actually occurred during this time period. The gauchos' lifestyle suffered greatly because of these social and economic changes. New institutions, values and beliefs all aided the transformation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gauchos' social lives covered many interesting areas. These traditional acts decreased because of the new laws. Previously, gauchos would roam the pampa, continuously moving onward to unknown destinations. This freedom became restricted with the invention of the fence. The fence also impacted other areas of the gauchos' lives including economically. The fence forced thechange from a ranching to farming. The need for ranchers decreased, which put gauchos out of work. These fences also kept animals contained to specific pastures. Before this gauchos would kill roaming horses for fun, cattle for food and skins, and ostrich for feathers. These fences set territories that kept the gaucho from wandering freely. Another change that kept the gaucho from wandering freely involved vagrancy laws. The government targeted to the gaucho and aimed to get rid of them, or at least tame them. Gauchos now had to carry something similar to a travel permit. This again restricted their unique lifestyle. Because the government viewed the gauchos as good fighters, they enlisted many to serve in the military. This impacted their lives socially and economically. Gauchos' social lives slowed down enormously because of the military. They had to work continuously. Economically they benefited because they no longer had to look for ways to support their basic needs. The government took care of making them sustain life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Letter of Transmittal Introduction This assignment is to study the relationship between the change in shapes of yield curves and change in economic prospect of an economy. In this study, Australia and America are selected for the detailed analysis of the topic. Time series data from December 2009, December 2010, December 2011, December 2012 and the most updated May 2013 will be collected for further analysis. The study will be divided into 4 parts. Below we will explain briefly how we will handle the tasks. Task 1: We will plot the yield curves of Australia and America using the yield data of Australian Treasury notes and government bonds as well as the U.S. Treasury bills. Then, we will relate the curve shapes to expectation theory of the interest rates for further explanations. Task 2: We will discuss the relationship between the change in the slope of yield curves and the change in the prospect of economy by plotting the graphs of slop change in yield curves for Australia and America. Data with a higher frequency will be collected for more detailed study. Task 3: We will look in to how effective the RBA and the FED have done on the change inmonetary policy and how these policies affected the yield curves respectively. Actions taken to deal with the impact from financial tsunami in 2008 will be target of our discussion. Task 4: We will conclude the findings above and try to give out opinions on how the investors and policy makers should do to achieve a better

  • 14. The Theory Of Economic Change Introduction Change is often seen as a destabilizing element, but it is necessary for a company to change since it enables to adapt to the environment and its evolutions. But before applying any change, the company needs to strategically reflect on the change management and implement a management team that will be able to support the contributors in order to anticipate and then fight the resistance to change. The theory of economic change (R. Nelson and S. Winter, 1982) highlights the ability for a company to adapt to environmental evolutions thanks to its learning capacity. The 'change management' means the entire process that goes from the perception of an organizational problem in defining a framework of actions that enables the development, selection and implementation of a solution under optimal conditions for success. Different types propose a classification of the different changes that can take place within a company. Among these include a classification that examines the areas of change: economic, legal, social, technological, ecological, cultural, political, organizational, and strategic while another studied the change according to its characteristics: global or partial, slow or fast, marginal or major. Similarly, according to that change is marginal or major; it is possible to distinguish different degrees of changes: the setting, the reform, restructuring or even the rebuilding. While the adjustment and reform are conventionally managed by the company in its daily operations, restructuring and rebuilding, for their part, are true organizational change. Both types of change lead to a real transformation of the processes at work in the company and a real "cultural revolution." These changes, by their propensity to generate resistance, must be subject to special management. Change can also be studied, according to the behaviour adopted: led–directed, spontaneous or planned (typology of H. Mintzberg). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Economics Of Climate Change The Economics of Climate Change The world economy is a very complex system; in the system harmful externalities disrupt capital flows and determine economic productivity. Therefore, when monetarily analyzing climate change it is important to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Literacy, Opportunity, And Economic Change This critique will be of chapter one of the book Literacy in American Lives. The author of this book is Dr. Deborah Brandt, a professor of English at Wisconsin Madison University and her main focus in Literacy in American Lives is to study about how people have learned to read, how they use their ability to read, and how literacy learning changes with time. In this first chapter "Literacy, Opportunity, and Economic Change", Brandt focuses on how economic change can affect the value of literacy, and the impact that this change in the value of literacy has in the lives of two farm women from Wisconsin. For the main evidence of her work in chapter one Brandt goes into the personal stories of two women by which she has given the names Martha Day and Barbara Hunt. Martha Day grew up on a farm in a time near the 1920's; she did well in high school but did not pursue a higher education because, according to Day, they didn't push girls like they did men back then (Brandt). She married a book keeper and became a small town journalist when her Sunday school teacher, who also happened to be the editor of the local paper, asked her to manage a monthly news letter about the out pouring of agricultural articles from the local university and stations. Eventually, Day started to write her own articles and moved into the corporate world of journalism writing a bimonthly column on domestic topics. • 19. Economic Changes In The South Essay There were many changes to the South after a long and brutal Civil War. The most significant of these, was the change to the overall economic system of the South. After Slavery and the cotton industry was shattered, the South was left with figuring out how to fix a once rich land founded on slavery. The first example of economic change in the South was in how African Americans began to support themselves economically. Plantations in the South were virtually workerless after African Americans were emancipated. Not only that, they were left economically in debt from the destruction caused by the Civil War. This left the Plantation owners at a loss of ability to function and since most African Americans didn't want to go back to work for plantation owners, the Black Codes were created. The... Tenants rented this land and were also given supplies by their landlord such as seed, farming equipment and fertilizer. Of course, these supplies were also rented and often the only person the tenant was allowed to sell their crop to, was their landlord. The landlord decided what prices were available to the tenant and how much things cost. Often crops were unpredictable and landlords were very unfair with their prices. This would leave the tenants in debt that would carry over year after year. This, in a way, tied the tenants to the land so that they could never leave the landlord and left them in a constant state of crippling poverty. According to PBS.com, two thirds of all sharecroppers were white and only one third were black. This of course has room for landlords, but this also implies that some sharecroppers were white citizens left in complete poverty after the Civil War. Overall, the biggest changes in the south were clearly economic and did not only affect the African American population, but the European population as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order for an economy to flourish, certain legal and social institutions, such as property rights, government policy, trade and finance, must be in place. Since its founding, especially after the 1980s, China has experienced a series of economic reforms, such as the development of non–government–owned industrial economy, the opening–up policy. Unprecedented growth occurred in China, with its economy increase by 9.5% a year. Additionally, according to error correcting model, in short term, the institutional factor are not significant, indicating that institutional changes influence economy development through a long–term channel. The Civil War brought about a huge amount of change in politics and ushered in the Industrial Age. With this boom in industry also came the socioeconomic transfiguration in America from rural dwelling to city living. Population boomed and residency in cities like Chicago increased fifty–fold. This city boom came with the invention of the elevator and new building techniques for building taller buildings. Also, expanding public transportation and super stores like Macy's and Marshall Field's provided the means for inhabitants to function. • 26. Systematic Economic Change And Poverty Reduction James Stewart Matias Bianchi LAS/POL 364 11/2/2015 Systematic Economic Change and Poverty Reduction: The Effects of Governance on Inequality Liberalization is a term that has dominated the minds, and governments of Latin America from the advent of the region–encompassing debt–crisis of the 1980s. Many reforms, with the idea of opening up the market and reducing barriers to trade in order to increase growth, control inflation, and reduce social unrest, have taken hold in the region in notable countries such as Mexico. In, "Programs on Poverty and Inequality: Chile, Mexico, and Peru," John Sheahan explores the reasons as to why liberalization programs have seemingly worked in some countries, and have had lackluster effects in others. Chile, for example, is often cited as the shining beacon of economic example in Latin America, and is also grouped in with the East Asian economies that developed to the level of Western Europe from the 1980s onwards. Conversely, Mexico has had disappointing growth that has never recovered to pre–1980s levels, along with social unrest and failures in governance. This paper will explore the questions: Why does poverty persist so much in some countries in the region e.g. Mexico, and Peru to a lesser extent, and why does it seem effectively controlled in other parts, such as in Chile? Sheahan argues that direct social programs are increasing in popularity as effective forms of controlling the negative effects of liberalization reforms, but that they ... Why were they considered so radical? Due to "...falling agricultural prices and growing economic dependency" (Foner 636) in the mid–nineteenth century, farmers in the South began to face inevitable economic uncertainty. Farmers, both white and black alike, were thrown into poverty due to sharecropping and the fall of the price of cotton, and many faced the fear of losing everything they had due the inability to pay bank loans. Believing that their situation was caused by "...high freight rates...excessive interest rates for loans...and the fiscal policies of the government" (Foner 636), disgruntled farmers hoped to better their lives and conditions through the founding of the Farmers' Alliance in the 1870s. However, by the 1890s, the Alliance transformed into what became known as the Populist Party. Keeping their roots in mind, the Populists sought to end what they considered political corruption and economic inequality that arose during the Reconstruction. In order to do so, they proposed "...the direct election of U.S. senators, government control of currency, a graduated income tax, a system of low–class public financing...the right of workers to form labor unions...[and a] public ownership of the railroads" (Foner 638). • 28. Globalization, Technology, And Political Economic Change Globalization, Technology, and Political Economic Change in the Modern Era The institutions which characterize modern European and American political economies have existed since the Great Depression. These institutions were established to set formal rules dictating how economic agents interact and how governments organize these agents. By examining these institutions and the coalitional relationships and complementarities that they form, economists David Soskice and Peter Hall identify two organizational forms, which they term two "varieties of capitalism" (VoC)– the coordinated market economy (CME), which describes Germany and other states with centralized wage setting, and the liberal market economy (LME), representative of the United States where individual actors and market forces set wages . However, international economic and technological changes are altering the economic landscape, exemplified by growing wealth inequality, and how nations interact, potentially redefining the institutions by which these economies are identified. Globalization is defined as increasing integration of economic institutions, decreasing costs of communication and liberating trade . The decreasing costs of doing business around the world are changing how firms are managed and how they invest, potentially blurring the lines between CMEs and LMEs. They came from a different countries with different governments so they didn't understand the government in the United States. Positive Economic Changes Of Industrial Automation Essay Positive Economic Changes of Industrial Automation by 2036 When a sect of society is faced with the imminent reality that its lifestyle will be disrupted by the advent of the latest technology, there ensues a massive ideological regression to the status quo. Historically, polls showed an aversion to technology, with only 28% of adults labelling themselves as "early adopters" of technology (Pew Research). A low percentage of early adopters creates a "chasm" of technology adoption, reinforced by the dissent of a vocal minority of technology conservatives. This aversion to technology is not drawn on by rational, evidence–based conclusions, but rather, apocalyptic premonitions of the poorer livelihoods of average citizens. The common fear is that automation will kill jobs and create a high unemployment rate. Despite this hyperbolic scenario, the trope offers a starting point to analyze the scope of economic changes that would occur during a plausible future. Accelerated emissions of green house gases (GHGs) globally, from combustion of fossil fuels and unsustainable land use practices is the key driver of anthropogenic climate change, which is manifested in; temperature variations, frequent and extensive droughts, intensive rainfalls and floods, seasonal and regional pest and disease prevalence that result to conflicts for pasture and water resources,

  • 39. Economic and Social Change in Indonesia Topic 1: European economic and political expansion in Southeast Asia in the last quarter of the 20th century resulted in the greater integration of the region into the international economy. Six 'new' states emerged – Indonesia, Malaya, Burma, the Philippines, Indochina and Thailand. Discuss economic and social change in the region with reference to ONE Southeast Asian state. Economic and social change within Indonesia Introduction After over a quarter century of sustained economic growth, Indonesia was struck by a major economic crisis at the end of the 20th Century. This paper examines the impact of the crisis on economic and social change within the region. (Cameron 1999) The crisis, which worked its way through many of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only has the economy grown rapidly over the last quarter century but there has also been dramatic demographic and social change. Fertility rates have declined substantially and there have been massive investments in human capital. This can be seen in secondary school enrollment rates which have risen from a mere 6% in 1960 to more than 50% today; primary school enrollment is essentially universal. (Poppele 1999) The investments are also reflected in the health of the population: at birth, the average Indonesian today expects to live to the age of 61 which is 50% longer than he or she expected 30 years ago. Thus, the labor force has not only grown dramatically in size but also in quality. The consequences of these improvements are reflected in significant rising real wage levels over the last three decades. (Smith 2002) Pride in its past economic achievements and optimism about its future were suddenly challenged by the economic crisis which was accompanied by dramatic shifts in the economic and political landscape of the country. As indicated in Figure 1, the rupiah came under pressure in the last half of 1997 when the exchange rate began showing signs of weakness. After falling by half from around 2,400 per US$ to about 4,800 per US$ by December 1997, the rupiah collapsed in January 1998 when, over the course of just a few days, the exchange rate fell by 400% to Rp16,000 per US$. Changes in political environment not only influence organization directly also interact with changes in the economic environment. Economic Factors For organizations, there are many concerns with triggers for change in the economic environment. These are not only competitors but also other issues like exchange rates, tax, wage rates, economic policies and etc. (Cook,2004) Organizations need to look at the level of inflation, employment level per capita, interest rates and long–term prospects for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, and so on. There are two types of forces in the market which can affect the competitive position of an organization –other organizations supplying the same products and, buyers who are not buying the product. Socio–cultural factors These are related to people's behaviour, tastes, and lifestyles. Social changes are signs of in terms of people's aspirations, the needs, and their ways of working. Social changes have taken place according to the several forces like level of education, urbanization, feeling of autonomy, and international impact due to new information sources. • 41. Economics of Carbon Emissions and Climate Change Economics of Carbon Emissions and Climate Change The economics of climate change is a very controversial and disputed. To even discuss what should be done economists have to either state whether or not global warming and climate change exist. According to the CATO article, Climate Change vs. Climate Models (Michaels and Knappenberger, 2013), "The models' estimate of the increase in temperature resulting from a doubling of carbon dioxide concentration may simply be too high." As questioned in the article, is there such thing as climate change? Next, if climate change does exist, are carbon emissions a relevant cause of such a phenomena? With all of these questions at hand, how do we deal or cope with the current environmental state through economic means? Does climate change exist? According to the U.S. Global Research Program (USGRP), climate change does exist. Not in the sense of immediate and drastic changes in the climate, but a gradual fluctuation in temperatures that have been gathered since the early 1900's. The empirical data that has been gathered shows a steady increase in the mean maximum temperature recorded in the Canadian Climate Change Model which is the basis on the 2000 U.S. National Assessment of Climate Change. The original model generated had a sine–like pattern with a .342В°C difference between the highest crest and lowest trough. This was then proven an unworthy model when the actual empirical data was recorded with a .169В°C difference. There was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Economics and Change Economics and Change Dimensions of Professional Practice 08/02/2015 Economics and Change Introduction Health care in America is at the center of controversy. It is a progressive and rapid changing entity. Since the 1970s, America has seen many different types of programs and funds created to help solve the issue of the cost of health care. Many of these programs are on the brink of bankruptcy and have not done far enough to make it more affordable and assessable. Actually America has the most expensive healthcare system in the world and not only is it the most expensive, but in many areas such as quality of care, America is no where near the top among developed countries (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, & Schoen, 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This approach would greatly benefit people that are already under some type of government healthcare because the government would find the best companies to work with in order to provide all types of care from a routine visit to hospice. These companies would then charge the government only for the services provided. This is where there is a big problem. Right now pricing for most of American health care comes from a small group of doctors called the Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee or RUC (Munro, 2013). This is problematic because this committee is deciding the prices rather than the actual cost of products. If this process was changed then people could use rationalization to determine that a government ran universal healthcare system would be in the best self–interest. Healthcare Committee Committees are very important in improving and discussing ways to improve healthcare in America. There are many different types of committees that would be assembled, but the most important one would be one to replace the RUC. An example of what is wrong with the RUC is demonstrated in a balloon needed for sinus surgery. The balloon itself costs 2,600 dollars to be made. The RUC priced it at 3,000 dollars for each procedure. This balloon can be used up to 6 times before a new one must be used. Six procedures could be done with one balloon that costs 2,600 dollars and Medicare will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Evaluate The Impact Technological Changes Have Had On The... Evaluate the impact technological changes have had on the economics of health care and what these changes mean to the health care industry, addressing at least two (2) changes. There are a myriad of disruptive technologies impacting the economics of healthcare today. Two of the most disruptive in terms of re–ordering capital expense (CAPEX) spending are cloud computing's impact on medical records management (Corredor, MartГnez, Familiar, 2011) and telemedicine administered remotely over the Internet (Johansson, Wild, 2010). The economics of healthcare are being changed both structurally and at the patient experience level, which together are re–ordering the entire value chain of healthcare service delivery and monitoring. Cloud computing–based medical records management is making it possible for hospitals and treatment centers to have a single, unified system of record for their current and past patient population (Corredor, MartГnez, Familiar, 2011). This has drastically reduced duplication of records management systems, minimized reporting and billing errors, and created a highly effective platform for patient–based analytics (Martin, Yen, Tan, 2002). The insights and intelligence gained from the analytics driven from patient systems is also making it possible for healthcare providers to better redefine process workflows, making hospital operations more cost–effective. The combining of cloud computing platforms and telemedicine is streamlining the treatment plans for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
