GENERAL EXPERIENCES OF BLASTING AND PAINTING OPERATION AND
PROVEN KNOWLEDGE OF PAINTING INSPECTION PROCEDURES AS FOLLOW:
WORK DESCRIPTION
1.Blasting and painting works in all piping System structural steels fittings, vessels, gas
Turbine, boilers, decks, Jackets, Tanks. And all related steel equipments works, also civil
foundation concrete coating works in yard, installation and maintenance works in oil & gas
plant, petrochemical plant, refinery, Power plant, Water Desalination Plant, Petroleum
Development station.
2. Supervision of fire proofing works for storage tank in PDO project & specially there
Mash rah island MOD in Muscat.

NATURE OF DUTIES (WITH QC PROCEDURES)
1. Supervision of blasting operation, painting application and general maintenance.
2. Understanding the scope of blasting and painting works.
3. Implementation of vendor & project specifications.
4. Always follow the safety laws and rules regulation in work place (Health & Safety
Environment protection)
5. Must be looking surface condition (Rust Grade) A, B, C and D before the blasting
6. Method of preparation standard in which SAl, SA2, SA2½ and SA3 according to the ISO
paint specification procedures.
7. Type of material use to surface cleaning of steel by manual and mechanical ABM (grit,
super garnet, steel shot) according to the paint specification.
8. Looking necessary climatically conditions of windily, cloudy, rainy, snow, fog, Ice coat,
ram boasted & wet before blasting, painting works to while working the same operations.
9. Must be looking steel temp 10-15oC & up to 45oC to start the blasting operation.

15. Measuring ISO comparator reading in blasting preparation surfaces by use compare with
segment standard sample plate. (segment 1,2,3 & 4 level)
16. To check and take the reading of chloride test in blasting preparation surfaces by use
Elcometer SCM-400. (off shore and on shore project)
17. Applying the paint using recommended method of brush, roller, air spray and airless
spray as per vendor with project specification. .
18. Must be check the air & metal temp is at least 3oC above the dew point Temp to painting
application.
19. Must be check relative humidity is less than 90% not exceed 85% to painting application.
20. To make sweet water and air cleaning& preparation as in every operation.
21. To correct and proper mixing ratio of in various paints with ordinary and various thinners
according to recommended paint specification.
22. Looking necessary paint system, manufacture, type, batch number, Expiry date viscosity
and colour to painting application and while the same operation.
23. Immediately to applying primer or first coat paint as after the completion of blasting
period ( within four hours ).
24. To avoid shaking, bubbles, pin hole,teer,orenge peel and over spray after the painting
application areas to keep the same operation.
25. Must be check & the Tip sizes in various painting surfaces, according to the paint
specification.
26. Taking measurements reading of dry film and wet film thickness using wet gage, digital
elecometer and Banana type gauge meter as per the average recommended microns.
27. Check and take measuring of (pin hole test) after the painting surfaces by use wet sponge
type, (up to 500 microns) high voltage spark test (above 500 microns) according to the
painting specification procedure. (ASM standard) by use D. portable holiday detector
(Elecometer 236).
28. To proper check the interval period to applying further coat of paint according to the paint
specification.
29. If any problem having there painted area to check as manual adhesiontest of cross cut,
pull off test andMKEtest.
30. Note the Blasting start time, finish time, and painting start time, finish time according to
the paint Specification procedure.
31. Maintaining air compressor, blasting pot, airless spray m/c (Graco, and Wiva pump), and
all blasting & painting equipments in good conditions with team.
32. Daily morning at assembly point to conduct tool box meeting with team ( STRA ).
