Being A Bartender Research Paper
Bartending is a highly competitive career between young and old adults. Many college student rely on being a bartender as their main source of
income. In many ways, some might say I have the perfect job. I succeed to work in an upbeat atmosphere, meet new people, and sample some
treasured spirits. Most of the time you can find me laughing with guests while mixing their favorite cocktails on the menu. I play host to their party
and gatekeeper to their alcohol. Some will try to make friends with me in hopes of free drinks in the future. Although this may sound like the perfect
career there are some disadvantages. Before quitting your day job, here are a few points to consider. Some of the disadvantages are working late hours,
dealing with a stressful work environment, and inconsistent pay.
To begin, being a bartender will have you putting in the late night work hours. Being a night owl is an understatement in this career. Many bars close
in the early morning, and leave the bartender to clean up the trash and spilled drinks left behind. The last concern a barkeep would have is spending
two hours cleaning after babysitting drunk customers all night. The bartender is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I receive $2.13 per hour plus tips. The valuable tips usually weigh out the poor ones at the end of the night, however, this is not always the case.
Sometimes you think you have cash to spare, as a result of getting paid at the end of every shift. Consequently, I become more of an impulse
shopper. I do not think about saving money, being that I am not waiting on a paycheck. With this in mind, there are slow periods during the year
when income can be sparse. I discontinue spending money when I do not have the usual amount of income. I struggle through weeks where I earn
$400, and others upwards of $900. It is difficult to base your bills on what you are earning. It is also harder to get a loan for anything because there is

Edith Head: Hollywood's First Woman Fashion Designer Essay
The 1930s ushered in the Golden Age of Hollywood when new technological advances brought lighting, photography, and sound to a new level of
excellence. Along with these technical advances, wardrobe departments of major motion picture studios were busy as costume designers, with the
assistance of skilled seamstresses, milliners, and tailors, produced stunning garments for glamorous movie stars. During the 1930s and 1940s the field of
costume design was dominated by men. But, that didn't stop Edith Head, who would become one of Hollywood's most prolific designers, working on
more than 500 films, a record for a career such as hers.
One thing that separated Edith from her colleagues was that she was making clothes to suit a character; for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point, Edith enrolled in night classes at first at the Otis Art Institute and later at the Chouinard. Her specialties were landscapes. Edith
retreated into her own world while her husband Charles Head traveled and worked. They spent little time together and their lives grew separately.
It was her Catholic faith that not only kept her married but also helped her through this trying period. When Howard Greer, chief designer at what
would be Paramount, placed an ad in the paper looking for a sketch artists, Edith answered. Because she had no experience in costume design she asked
her fellow students at Chouinard to provide some designs which she signed, and headed off to Paramount. Greer was impressed and hired her at fifty
dollars a week. She later said of the borrowed portfolio: I was studying seascape and all I could draw was oceans. I needed a portfolio, so I borrowed

Looking at Skyy's Vodka Advetisement
When looking at Skyy's vodka advertisement, they had encoded many types of meanings in their advertisement to appeal customers into buying their
products. You first see a woman dressed up all in black holding a martini shaker while a man is sitting in a round chair holding a martini glass. You can
only see the man's hand and legs which creates a mysterious look with the combination of the setting being night time. The second thing you would see
is the actual product in the corner of the ad because of the contrast of the dark bottle and the white table and chair. The white man sitting in the big
round chair without his face reduces the attention of him which brings more attention towards the woman. The man without the face could represent
that you could be the person who is sitting there and be treated like a king by the women serving you vodka in a seductive way. This would bring
attention to male customers who are looking at the ad and they can decode the message of buying this vodka would get you a sexy woman serving
you in a luxurious suite alone. The attractive woman is the core concept to appeal to customers by the placement and size being almost the whole print
ad. The lighting towards the women enhances the woman's curves, breasts and a smooth silky skin. The position of the woman shows a seductive
approach to the man by how she is very close holding a margarita shaker even though his martini glass is full. The position of the woman with the

Born Yesterday: Legally Blonde Meets My Fair Lady
On the evening of March 23, 2017, after a nice dinner with my aunt and uncle, I bid them adieu and went into the Asolo Repertory Theater to see
Born Yesterday. The playwright is Garson Kanin, and the director of the Asolo's production is Peter Amster. The story was amazing. It was like
Legally Blonde meets My Fair Lady a la 1950s. And I loved every second of it. The production itself was incredible, it brought to life a story of
greed and how women were, and still are, regarded as infantile and how this ignorance can be used to bring about the downfall of those who
underestimate women. It did this through the use of wonderful acting, and fabulous set and costumes. Born Yesterday is a wonderful story. Set in

Billie, however, pays him no mind. As this continues, the audience's perception of Billie begins to change. Every round, to the annoyance of
Brock, Billie gets gin. This indicates that she is a lot smarter than she appears, or perhaps gives herself credit for. One thing that I noticed during
this scene is that there was no background noise. Just the sounds of a card game: cards being shuffled, the occasional slap on the table to signify
gin, the giddy sound of a win, and an annoyed grunt of defeat. Few words were exchanged during this scene, which allowed the audience to really
get a sense of the relationship that Billie and Brock have. While Billie hummed Dorothy Fields and Jimmy McHugh's "I Can't Give You Anything
but Love, Baby", she tapped her feet under the table, probably reminiscing about her days as a showgirl. After a few rounds, an exasperated Brock
decides he has had enough and storms off, leaving Billie alone to play solitaire. But first, Billie demands that he pay her the money that she won after
beating him at gin, which Brock grudgingly

My Cultural Identity
My cultural identity, as I know is Mexican American because both my parents are born in Mexico and I was born here. I can also be defined as a
Chicana because that is another way used to call a Mexican American. My culture can be seen in so many different ways like for example it can be
seen in food, music, religion, dance, art, festivals, and even more. Most of these traditions have changed a little bit over time as they were brought to
the U.S. What I mean by that is that some of those traditions were brought from Mexico, and had a little change into them because they were combined
with some traditions that have already been here in the U.S.
An example of an important tradition in my culture would be a quinceanera. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After bringing up so many topics like that I came to realize that having a quinceanera is a one in a lifetime celebration and it will be a memory that
I can cherish forever. I was really excited to start planning. We went to the first banquet hall and I was in love with everything! It was so big with
chandeliers everywhere, colorful lights going off and on, the dancefloor was pretty huge with a stage so that the band can play there and people can
dance, and there were so many tables. I could just imagine how beautiful it would look once it was all decorated. Then we went to the church where
my mother and father met, and booked the date for the ceremony. Once we booked the date at the church, I went into the actual church, bent down and
I thanked God and the VirginMary for another day of life and for everything to go well as I planned my quinceanera. The mass ceremony is the most
important part of a quinceanera because the Bible and the rosary, the tiara and or crown, the bouquet of flowers, and the people who accompany a
quinceanera hold a spiritual meaning during the ceremony. The crown and or tiara represents the young woman as a princess in God's eyes. The Bible
and Holy rosary are both foundations of faith and gets blessed with Holy Water.

The Fashion Designers : Edith Head
Throughout Hollywood's history, there have been several great fashion designers. One of these designers is Edith Head. She had a very long and
illustrious career that lasted from 1927 to 1981, and she inspired numerous fashion trends based on her costume designs. As the head designer for both
Universal and Paramount, she also worked on several popular films including Roman Holiday, Sabrina, and The Sting. Edith Head was very secretive
about her childhood and would often lie about it when questioned during interviews (Jorgensen, 13). Edith Head was born Edith Claire Posner on
October 28, 1897, in San Bernardino to Max Posner and Anna Levy. When her mother, married her stepfather, Frank Spare, the three of them moved

She got her start by applying for a sketch artist job at Paramount Studios working with Howard Greer. The only reason why Head acquired the job
was due to the fact she lied during her interview, borrowing sketches done by some of her classmates at Chouinard Art School and displaying them as
her own. Greer recounted in his autobiography that he only hired her because he was, "struck dumb with admiration for anyone possessed of such
diverse talents" (Flatow). However, Head admitted what she did and was still given the job. She worked her way up to designer, by first handing pins to
seamstresses then, after to improving her sketches, designing and selecting clothes for various B movies (Flatow). Edith Head did not require an
education geared toward fashion, however, in 1923, she did attend art classes from Otis Art School and Chouinard Art School. It was during her
time at Chouinard she met a classmate's brother, Charles Head. On July 25, 1923, she married Charles and became Edith Head. Head did not have
a good relationship with her husband because he was an alcoholic. This led her to look for a summer job in 1924, to help support her husband. The
job she acquired was a sketch artist job at Paramount Studies, which started her on her career. Edith Head is best known for designing several iconic
costumes for popular films. She was known for creating classic looks, tailored suits and gowns, and would add slight embellishment

Persuasive Essay On Fashion
Do you want to make a unique fashion statement on your special occasion? Are you attending your prom, a wedding or a cocktail party? Then,
vintage dresses are the way to go! While others are stuck in the routine combination of dresses for their prom or special occasions, vintage dresses are
original choices you can go for, to stand out and rock the place.
The old is fashionable! The vintage look does not stop being in style, and when you add some 50s dresses to your wardrobe or solely for the occasion,
you display a unique taste that always stands out, no matter the occasion. By the way, this should not be confused with the use of second hand clothing.
While the word "vintage" refers to old clothes, this does not mean that you have to use broken or time–worn models. This can be counterproductive and
evoke a negative image instead of the good look which is the original goal. The goal is to wear garments that look good in order to create a timeless
look at the same time.
Vintage dresses, like all the dresses we find in stores, should be tested and checked very carefully if it has flaws. If you like dresses inspired by the
past, you will love the optical or geometric prints of the 70s, classic black dresses or flared jeans from the 60s or flowers and laces of the 50s that will
take us much further back in time.
By definition, a dress is considered a vintage dress if it goes from the 20's to the 80's. This style is generally welcomed and used by people who give
special value to classic dresses. If you are passionate about or identify with this style, we recommend you invest in some beautiful 50s vintage dresses.
Generally, vintage dresses stand out for their exclusivity, high quality and distinction. In fact, vintage dresses are the great passion of thefashion world
fans and a source of inspiration for haute couture designers. As you already know, celebrities are vintage fans! So, when you buy yourself some vintage
dresses, you are basically rocking your celebrity identity.
So, how do you combine your vintage dresses for your special occasion, to create a look that is current and not outdated?
The truth is that, there is no "perfect" answer to this. This is because your personal taste plays an essential role

Candide Analysis
Through music and interpretation, Bernstein's Candide offered a range of entertainment. From the happiness to the sadness this rollercoaster of a plot
gave the viewer a performance to be remembered. How Bernstein's uses his costumes and props helps the development of the characterization in
Bernstein's Candide. Since the costumes did not follow any time period, each one of them was created to fit each character's personality or attributes.
As a result of this Candide's costume of lederhosen reflected his immaturity. In Germany lederhosen were worn specifically by young men. Candide's
dress served as a way to communicate with the audience that instead of a full grown man this character is to portray a boy in the show. In contrast,
Cunegonde's cocktail dress represents her personality, not her age. The dress being sparkly and a bright pink showed how Cunegonde was not timid,
but bold. One could immediately tell the character of Cunegonde is all about appearances, and the audience can come to the conclusion that she is
not reserved but quite the opposite. Paquette's apron mirrors the status of the character, the audience can make her out to be a servant without her to
pull one string on the baroness's corset. The old woman having a quilt patch dress shows her current position, but the jewels on her fingers and the
pearls on her neck showed her past of being a wealthy woman of her time. Each of these perfectly selected costumes allows the essence of the
characters to be

San Diego County, there was frost upon the leaves of grass that were still green as ever. Daytime temperatures were still reaching seventy to
seventy–five degrees on average. It was Friday of that weekend, and Clarissa had told Johnny that she would meet him, all dolled up, at the cocktail
lounge of the 'Lyndham Hotel,' which was just above the Oceanside Pier. Clarissa arrived first at the new and glamorous hotel cocktail lounge. It
was a busy evening, and there were quite a few people already scattered about the lounge. As she walked into the lounge's entrance, her look and
presence turned many heads. It was exactly seven in the evening when Clarissa strutted herself into this establishment looking and feeling her best.
She rested up two hours before this event so she would have as much energy as she could. The heads turned. Men and women dressed in
conservative cocktail wear examined Clarissa from head to toe. From her toes, she was wearing silver strapped, open toe, high heels. Her toenails

Symbols In The Dreamers
"The Dreamers" is a film by Berrnardo Bertolucci, loosely translated from "The Holy Innocents," a novel by Gilbert Adair, meaning that youth, naivety,
and innocence could all be synonymous with a bleeding – heart liberal waiting to be heartbroken by the "harsh realities of life." Matthew is an
American cinephile studying French in Paris where he meets Isabelle and Theo, twin cinephiles that are archetypal French citizens in 1968. When
the viewer meets Isabelle, she is depicted with a beret, a cigarette with a holder, chained to the cinematheque, which the narrator/viewer's surrogate
says, "only the French would put a cinema in a palace." When the viewer meets Theo, he is dressed in a black turtleneck and suede blazer. How
French. In Spring '68, France was going through yet another revolution. The Communist and Socialist Parties band together to stop the reign of
capitalism and de Gaulle. This film guides the viewer through the frivolous escapades of an eccentric trio during a time of hostility. Using
characterization, dialogue, and mise en scene, the film depicts leftist ideologies and their tainted branches during the 1968 French revolution
through the corruption of one of the unorthodox twins, Isabelle. Isabelle is the epitome of tabula rasa; meaning that she is whatever the person
she is trying to please would like her to be. She is an actor playing a part in her specified director's piece; she is clay awaiting to be molded; and she
is the vessel that takes the viewer through the plotline. Her identity, or lack of, is evident through the mise en scene of her room. The pastel pinks
and beiges adorning her walls paired with the teddy bears on her bed and the orderly, conservative way her bed is made is so blatantly juvenile.
Isabelle is a cinephile, she sees the images on screen and longs to become those images, yet in her room there is no evidence of her cinephilia. There
are medical instruments, ice skates, and everything is so clean. Towards the beginning of the film, Isabelle addresses Matthew's cleanliness, to which
she implies that those who love cinema are less likely to be clean. Yet Isabelle's room is the cleanest in the home. The medical instruments are evidence
that Isabelle is

The Cocktail Waitress, James Spradley And Brenda Mann Essay
Historically, anthropologists have focused their research on foreign cultures, often considered exotic to westerners. Yet, globalization has created a
continuously shrinking world and is increasingly providing sovereignty for developing nations, which may impede research opportunities for modern
anthropologists. In their book, "The Cocktail Waitress," James Spradley and Brenda Mann explained how this semi–recent issue threatens trust and
acceptance in these foreign communities and obstructs unique opportunities and research funding. Luckily, there are countless subcultures in America's
back yard, in which most are eternally evolving, providing a multitude of research opportunities for anthropologists. Alcohol establishments are home to
a plethora of subcultures that display clashing and harmonious interactions enjoyable for even the untrained human observers. Noticeably, bars contain
the local regulars, occasional boozers, business men, college students, and multiple others, all there for a common goal, leisure. Whether the responsible
sober driver, moderate drinker, or completely inebriated, every patron has exchanged workday courtesies for uninhibited behaviors. Additionally,
lounges often exhibit social interactions between men and women which provide ethnographers opportunity to study the cultural roles considered
masculine or feminine within our society and subcultures. Formerly, women employed in alcohol establishments were prohibited from managerial, bar

Analysis Of Alice Munro 's ' How I Met My Husband '
"How I Met My Husband" by Alice Munro is a short story about Edie, a fifteenth year old girl, who works at Dr. Peebles and Mrs.Peebles house
taking care of their children, cleaning the house, preparing the vegetables and occasionally baking desserts. One day they heard a plane pass by, and
they ran into the yard to look. Their neighbor Loretta Bird mentioned that the plane was close to hitting their house and began to talk about the plane.
She also specified that the pilot received permission to use the fairgrounds and give residents rides to see the neighborhood from above. The next day
when Edie finished her tasks early, she sometimes would look at Mrs. Peebles' clothes and even tried on a dress and put makeup on. She headed to the
kitchen to drink ginger ale and gets startled by a man, named Chris Watters, standing outside the door. He mentions he 's the pilot of the plane and asks
if he can obtain some water from the pump. He complimented and thanked her and left to the pump. After she rushed to take off the dress and wash
her face before Mrs. Peebles arrived to the house. Mrs. Peebles commenced to ask questions about the man, but Edie contemplated on becoming fired
if the man revealed how she dressed. After the Dr. and Mrs. Peebles departed to the theater, Edie ensured the children were sleeping then headed

Research Paper On Wine Cocktails
From Sangria to mimosas, wine cocktails make great party starters. And why not? Wines like Cabernet Sauvignon take on the rich taste of the oak
barrels in which they're stored. Champagnes bring us the taste of the champagne region of France. And that doesn't even begin to cover the great local
wines you can use as your cocktail's base. If you're planning a party and need some recipes for wine cocktails, I've got you covered. The following
recipes count as some of my go–to recipes when it's time to get the party started.
Simple Champagne Cocktail
Here's some trivia for you.
What's the difference between Champagne and sparkling wine?
If you said that Champagne comes from Champagne, France, you'd be right. The sparkling wine that we know of as Champagne is called that because
it's named after the region where it's made. If the drink is not made in Champagne, then it's just sparkling wine.
Got it? Good.
If you're fortunate enough to have Champagne – that's a real celebration, right? – then use that as your base. Otherwise, sparkling wine will do. Here's
how you make this simple sparkling wine cocktail.
Ingredients:
5 oz. Champagne or sparkling wine 1 sugar cube A dash of bitters Champagne flute
Instructions:
Drop the sugar cube into the glass. Add drops of bitters to the sugar cube. Slowly, pour champagne into the glass and then serve. It's not necessary to
stir this drink.
I got the idea for this cocktail drink from All Recipes. Unlike

1 hour earlier
Joss sat in a chair in the middle of the hotel room with her hands restrained behind her back.
John and Harold had needed an extra set of eyes at a formal party to help protect their new number Alejandro. Unfortunately for her, said potential

Now because of John and Harold's super computer she was in a shady motel room in a ruined cocktail dress surrounded by armed men. She was going

John Joss moaned his name as the pleasure began to build as she ground harder onto him.
John wrapped his arms around her tightly as he felt himself getting closer towards release. He slipped a hand between their bodies pressing his thumb

Shit John Joss gasped out as her orgasm spread through her body leaving her skin tingling and body limp. She buried her face in his sweaty neck as

Analysis Of Mark Becker 's ' The Night '
"Killing the victims just doesn't seem right," said the man on the screen, his voice full of a deep sadness. "That's what you signed up for," Chloe
exclaimed, frustration evident, "We are assassins. That's what we do." Archer sighed. "You're right, of course Shadow. Alright. Your next mission
is a man named Mark Becker. One of our bigger clients needs this done as soon as possible. All the information you need should be in the briefing
file. Good luck Red Shadow." The hologram closed and Chloe turned, smiled, and confidently walked out of the room. "Cut," the director said,
smooth voice washing over Chloe. Chloe swelled with satisfaction. She was a brilliant actress and this new movie would only improve her talents.
Before that could happen, however, she needed to relax and get away from the adventure of her new life. Chloe teleported back to her closet and
changed into a pair of sweatpants and a red T–shirt. She still had four hours left before diner and so she decided to go to the library and read. Even
though she had been to the library before, it still took her breath away. Picking a book at random, she settled down into one of the plush chairs
before the fire and started to read a classic fairy tale. Girl meets prince, girl is swept off of feet, they get married, so on. Same old story, but
somehow fresh in this version. Chloe decided to have pizza and hot chocolate delivered to the library and she carefully ate, taking extra precautions to

Casa Valentina By Harvey Fierstein
Casa Valentina by Harvey Fierstein. The play certainly was not what I expected once I saw it live. Before going to see it and writing this paper, I
decided to do some research on both of the plays to see if I could get a better understanding of them. As a result, I decided on Casa Valentina because it
was about a topic that I was unfamiliar with. The play is set in the early 1960s when men would go to the Catskill Mountains and escape. But escape
what? In this play, they would escape being men. Seeing the photographic oddness of men being dressed in little neat dresses has always been a
source of comedy and a favorite in theatre. This play is no different. The play was also a huge success, being nominated for multiple awards, including
four Tony's and winning other awards. With this in mind, I thought I was ready to view the play. What theplaywright was trying to say about life is
that everyone is different. It raised universal questions of who am I? What is my identity? To what are the differences ingender identity and sexual
orientation? It truly posed some fascinating questions about these identities. It even provoked the question of what ensues in matrimony when one of
the partners begins to represent both genders. What happens? Is one simply cut off? Is there room for them both? It brings out the central conflict of
illusion versus reality in my eyes. This is because these are grown adult men, married with a spouse of the opposite sex. Yet in spite of all this,

Raising Drinking Or The Sale Of Alcohol
Organized efforts to control and limit drinking or the sale of alcohol have been persistent in the United States since the early nineteenth century. For
many years, before any public demonstration was made against the liquor traffic, and for some years after, distilleries by many people were deemed
a blessing to the community. They provided a ready market for any surplus grain that was raised. The business was considered respectable; and
members of churches, and even deacons engaged in it without any detriment to their moral character or standing in society. But, after a few years of
temperance work, it dawned upon the minds of some that these distilleries were a source of evil rather than good, for they were "sowing the seeds of...

In America, it is a rite of passage to turn 21, and be legally allowed to consume and purchase alcohol. It has been established beyond question that a

adolescence. Moreover, in many societies it is inappropriate for elderly to engage in "intoxicated partying" that might be more accepted among the

Analysis Of Mothers Day 1996
Dale Kennington's unique artwork presents a realist view which encourages the viewers to examine her art that illustrates "everyday" occurrences in
a new and distinct way. In her oil on canvas piece, Mothers' Day, 1996, Kennington displays numerous young girls clothed in extravagant, decorative
dresses in a nondescript waiting room; many accompanied by what seems to be their mothers. Each dress is depicted with vivid, saturated color for
implied emphasis. The adult women, assumed mothers by the title of the piece, are primping their daughters for what seems to be a pageant show of
some sort by the identification number visible on the dress of one girl. Light and bouncy curls accentuate the young girls' faces as they prepare for the
show. Light from an unseen overhead light creates a spotlight on most of the girls, casting shadows across the room's floor. In this scene, the mothers
seem to be actively preparing their daughters whereas most of the girls appear to be unbothered and patiently waiting for what is to come next. This
piece is quite large, 10 by 6 feet, which allows for the audience to feel as if they were standing in the painting; this emphasizes the realism of the piece.
Kennington's use of realism allows for this scene to be represented candidly, and without artificiality and she achieves this by using formal components
that challenge the audience to rethink their predetermined notions of any particular event, such as this one. By using elements of design, Kennington
brings us into the world of her artistry. From first glance, the audience's view is directly drawn to a young girl in a green dress with her mother
adjusting her identification badge to her outfit as well as another young girl in blue being fixed up by her mother. These will be Kennington's focal
points. Just as important, the girls in the back are either sitting or waiting around with their mothers for their upcoming event. Kennington uses relative
placement here to invite the audience the look from the foreground (where the two girls and their mothers are standing), to the middle ground (where
some young contestants are sitting down and others standing up), and continue on examining the girls in the far back, seemingly dressed the

white. Women wore hats and carried parasols to escape from the light, to stay as white as possible. Those with darker, tanned skin were generally
workers, so it was important for the upper class to distinguish themselves from the peasants. Men also used this white paste to identify themselves from
the peasants. Who knew that Queen Elizabeth set the standards for make–up in those days? Her case of smallpox, which left some blemishes, was
easily covered by the heavy white make–up. This explains the absurdly pale skin in her many portraits. Cheeks and lips were ideally red. Kohl was
used to darken the eyelashes. Light hair was also considered beautiful. Hair styles were also very elaborate. Can you imagine sitting in a chair for 4
days with 20 hairdressers? Well, many women spent almost that much time, because their hair was almost never styled. In those days, people very
rarely took baths, meaning their hair would last for a long time. This may seem absolutely disgusting to us, but it was perfectly normal

Women 's Dress And Dress
Introduction
France in the 18th witnessed a huge modification in the aesthetic standard in dress for women, whether in terms of material, style and appearance
(Rothstein, 1999: 2). French fashion had successively experienced several distinctive stages. For instance, Rococo (luxury court–style showing
femininity, slimness and mannerism) was in stark contrast to the Baroque (characteristic with dignity and elegance). However, since the 1870s, the
Enlightenment and the French Evolution had exerted a profound effect on the women's dress in France. In this way, this essay intends to review the
development of women's dress and draw a contrast with the English dress within the same era.
Critical Review of Sources
Generally speaking, French fashion was in ascendency throughout the Europe, which received extensive attention about all respects concerning French
women's dress and French fashion.
The robe volante in the 1730s well displayed the overall loose shape, which, however, failed to represent the most distinctive feature of the huge
flounce as well as pleats on the back. Moreover, the understructure was also not clearly shown and introduced. The Mantua in 1708 well displayed the
design, materials, colours and patterns, which corresponded to the dress at that time. However, the colourful silk and well as other design details made
it seem more likely to be the characteristics of the Rococo. The Robe a la francaise in from 1775–1800 showed the changes in women's dress

of many ideas on our own. It was more of an internal idea source as opposed to going outside of our partnership for ideas. Our first idea was a

to do something with liquor. We automatically thought about bars and restaurants and how people order great tasting alcoholic beverages but they
cannot recreate it at their house or can rarely buy it already made. There is our product/service. A liquor store with a combination of a regular liquor
store and a separate counter up by the cash register with licensed bartenders to make specialty cocktail drinks and package them in a bottle for you to
purchase and bring home.
In developing the concept for the product, we thought of many factors that effect alcohol drinkers of all kinds (of legal age, of course). We were
going to provide a service to all those drinkers who love to sit back at home and drink bar quality beverages without trying to make it themselves. It
would be less time consuming because someone will be making it for you. All drink makers will be licensed bartenders with certificates posted. The
menu will attract to college, older adults, and even newly turned 21 year–olds who want to try different kinds of beverages. The store will have an
in–store menu with take home menus available.

Personal Narrative On Marty
All safety is illusion.
A stranger stabs a man repeatedly in the face and neck as he rides the rush hour train to work, a man's parachute fails, an infant boy quietly dies in his
sleep. This never–ending parade, this supporting cast that comes and goes and on–and–on; this ceaseless, synchronous choir marching and singing
solemnly in the echoing expanse of nothingness.
It's 2:33 p.m. Central Standard Time: Minneapolis. Inside Old Chicago on First Avenue, I've been enjoying an afternoon of "Double–Deckerroni" pizza,
two large mugs of beer and four shots of whiskey.
Ethereal tides sway each bobbling bottle in the sea all around and together and apart or any which way.

The last time I'd seen James or Marty was at 'The White Party' thrown at the Fine Line downtown two years before.
That night I recall that I'd discreetly finished a fifth of Bombay Sapphire while I worked my shift at Chino Latino. After I'd counted down my till, I
decided to take the bus directly downtown rather than go home to Lana's sad eyes and her questions.
The White Party: Everyone attending was supposed to wear, of course, only white, but I knew the theme, mostly, referred to whatever was laid out on
the table and shoveled into our noses in discreetly dark barroom corners.
I just needed a taste. I'd been good long enough.
I didn't give a fuck if I wore my black t–shirt, black pants, black work boots–contrarian Dakota, contemptible Dakota would probably slink into a corner
to jerk off or fuck some strange girl before the night's

Being a Bartender: Late Hours and Inconsistent Pay

  • 1. Being A Bartender Research Paper Bartending is a highly competitive career between young and old adults. Many college student rely on being a bartender as their main source of income. In many ways, some might say I have the perfect job. I succeed to work in an upbeat atmosphere, meet new people, and sample some treasured spirits. Most of the time you can find me laughing with guests while mixing their favorite cocktails on the menu. I play host to their party and gatekeeper to their alcohol. Some will try to make friends with me in hopes of free drinks in the future. Although this may sound like the perfect career there are some disadvantages. Before quitting your day job, here are a few points to consider. Some of the disadvantages are working late hours, dealing with a stressful work environment, and inconsistent pay. To begin, being a bartender will have you putting in the late night work hours. Being a night owl is an understatement in this career. Sometimes you think you have cash to spare, as a result of getting paid at the end of every shift. Consequently, I become more of an impulse shopper. I do not think about saving money, being that I am not waiting on a paycheck. With this in mind, there are slow periods during the year when income can be sparse. I discontinue spending money when I do not have the usual amount of income. I struggle through weeks where I earn $400, and others upwards of $900. It is difficult to base your bills on what you are earning. It is also harder to get a loan for anything because there is such inconsistency in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Edith retreated into her own world while her husband Charles Head traveled and worked. They spent little time together and their lives grew separately. It was her Catholic faith that not only kept her married but also helped her through this trying period. When Howard Greer, chief designer at what would be Paramount, placed an ad in the paper looking for a sketch artists, Edith answered. Because she had no experience in costume design she asked her fellow students at Chouinard to provide some designs which she signed, and headed off to Paramount. Greer was impressed and hired her at fifty dollars a week. She later said of the borrowed portfolio: I was studying seascape and all I could draw was oceans. I needed a portfolio, so I borrowed sketches В I didn't steal them. I asked everybody in the class for a few costume design sketches. And I had 3 the most fantastic assortment you've ever seen in your life. When you get a class of forty to give you sketches, you get a nice selection. It never occurred to me that it was quite dishonest. And all the students thought it was fun, too, just like a dare to see if I could get the job. I didn't say the work was mine. You first see a woman dressed up all in black holding a martini shaker while a man is sitting in a round chair holding a martini glass. You can only see the man's hand and legs which creates a mysterious look with the combination of the setting being night time. The playwright is Garson Kanin, and the director of the Asolo's production is Peter Amster. The story was amazing. It was like Legally Blonde meets My Fair Lady a la 1950s. And I loved every second of it. The production itself was incredible, it brought to life a story of greed and how women were, and still are, regarded as infantile and how this ignorance can be used to bring about the downfall of those who underestimate women. It did this through the use of wonderful acting, and fabulous set and costumes. Born Yesterday is a wonderful story. Set in Washington DC in the 1950s, ditsy former showgirl, Billie Dawn, has just moved into an apartment with her sugar daddy, Harry Brock.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Billie, however, pays him no mind. As this continues, the audience's perception of Billie begins to change. Every round, to the annoyance of Brock, Billie gets gin. This indicates that she is a lot smarter than she appears, or perhaps gives herself credit for. One thing that I noticed during this scene is that there was no background noise. Just the sounds of a card game: cards being shuffled, the occasional slap on the table to signify gin, the giddy sound of a win, and an annoyed grunt of defeat. Few words were exchanged during this scene, which allowed the audience to really get a sense of the relationship that Billie and Brock have. While Billie hummed Dorothy Fields and Jimmy McHugh's "I Can't Give You Anything but Love, Baby", she tapped her feet under the table, probably reminiscing about her days as a showgirl. After a few rounds, an exasperated Brock decides he has had enough and storms off, leaving Billie alone to play solitaire. I can also be defined as a Chicana because that is another way used to call a Mexican American. My culture can be seen in so many different ways like for example it can be seen in food, music, religion, dance, art, festivals, and even more. Most of these traditions have changed a little bit over time as they were brought to the U.S. What I mean by that is that some of those traditions were brought from Mexico, and had a little change into them because they were combined with some traditions that have already been here in the U.S. An example of an important tradition in my culture would be a quinceanera. ... It was so big with chandeliers everywhere, colorful lights going off and on, the dancefloor was pretty huge with a stage so that the band can play there and people can dance, and there were so many tables. I could just imagine how beautiful it would look once it was all decorated. Then we went to the church where my mother and father met, and booked the date for the ceremony. Once we booked the date at the church, I went into the actual church, bent down and I thanked God and the VirginMary for another day of life and for everything to go well as I planned my quinceanera. The mass ceremony is the most important part of a quinceanera because the Bible and the rosary, the tiara and or crown, the bouquet of flowers, and the people who accompany a quinceanera hold a spiritual meaning during the ceremony. The crown and or tiara represents the young woman as a princess in God's eyes. The Bible and Holy rosary are both foundations of faith and gets blessed with Holy Water. ... Greer recounted in his autobiography that he only hired her because he was, "struck dumb with admiration for anyone possessed of such diverse talents" (Flatow). However, Head admitted what she did and was still given the job. She worked her way up to designer, by first handing pins to seamstresses then, after to improving her sketches, designing and selecting clothes for various B movies (Flatow). • 11. Persuasive Essay On Fashion Do you want to make a unique fashion statement on your special occasion? Are you attending your prom, a wedding or a cocktail party? Then, vintage dresses are the way to go! While others are stuck in the routine combination of dresses for their prom or special occasions, vintage dresses are original choices you can go for, to stand out and rock the place. The old is fashionable! The vintage look does not stop being in style, and when you add some 50s dresses to your wardrobe or solely for the occasion, you display a unique taste that always stands out, no matter the occasion. By the way, this should not be confused with the use of second hand clothing. While the word "vintage" refers to old clothes, this does not mean that you have to use broken or time–worn models. This can be counterproductive and evoke a negative image instead of the good look which is the original goal. The goal is to wear garments that look good in order to create a timeless look at the same time. Vintage dresses, like all the dresses we find in stores, should be tested and checked very carefully if it has flaws. If you like dresses inspired by the past, you will love the optical or geometric prints of the 70s, classic black dresses or flared jeans from the 60s or flowers and laces of the 50s that will take us much further back in time. By definition, a dress is considered a vintage dress if it goes from the 20's to the 80's. This style is generally welcomed and used by people who give special value to classic dresses. If you are passionate about or identify with this style, we recommend you invest in some beautiful 50s vintage dresses. Generally, vintage dresses stand out for their exclusivity, high quality and distinction. In fact, vintage dresses are the great passion of thefashion world fans and a source of inspiration for haute couture designers. As you already know, celebrities are vintage fans! So, when you buy yourself some vintage dresses, you are basically rocking your celebrity identity. So, how do you combine your vintage dresses for your special occasion, to create a look that is current and not outdated? The truth is that, there is no "perfect" answer to this. This is because your personal taste plays an essential role ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Candide Analysis Through music and interpretation, Bernstein's Candide offered a range of entertainment. From the happiness to the sadness this rollercoaster of a plot gave the viewer a performance to be remembered. How Bernstein's uses his costumes and props helps the development of the characterization in Bernstein's Candide. Since the costumes did not follow any time period, each one of them was created to fit each character's personality or attributes. As a result of this Candide's costume of lederhosen reflected his immaturity. In Germany lederhosen were worn specifically by young men. Candide's dress served as a way to communicate with the audience that instead of a full grown man this character is to portray a boy in the show. In contrast, Cunegonde's cocktail dress represents her personality, not her age. The dress being sparkly and a bright pink showed how Cunegonde was not timid, but bold. One could immediately tell the character of Cunegonde is all about appearances, and the audience can come to the conclusion that she is not reserved but quite the opposite. Paquette's apron mirrors the status of the character, the audience can make her out to be a servant without her to pull one string on the baroness's corset. The old woman having a quilt patch dress shows her current position, but the jewels on her fingers and the pearls on her neck showed her past of being a wealthy woman of her time. • 16. Symbols In The Dreamers "The Dreamers" is a film by Berrnardo Bertolucci, loosely translated from "The Holy Innocents," a novel by Gilbert Adair, meaning that youth, naivety, and innocence could all be synonymous with a bleeding – heart liberal waiting to be heartbroken by the "harsh realities of life." Matthew is an American cinephile studying French in Paris where he meets Isabelle and Theo, twin cinephiles that are archetypal French citizens in 1968. When the viewer meets Isabelle, she is depicted with a beret, a cigarette with a holder, chained to the cinematheque, which the narrator/viewer's surrogate says, "only the French would put a cinema in a palace." When the viewer meets Theo, he is dressed in a black turtleneck and suede blazer. How French. In Spring '68, France was going through yet another revolution. The Communist and Socialist Parties band together to stop the reign of capitalism and de Gaulle. This film guides the viewer through the frivolous escapades of an eccentric trio during a time of hostility. Using characterization, dialogue, and mise en scene, the film depicts leftist ideologies and their tainted branches during the 1968 French revolution through the corruption of one of the unorthodox twins, Isabelle. Isabelle is the epitome of tabula rasa; meaning that she is whatever the person she is trying to please would like her to be. She is an actor playing a part in her specified director's piece; she is clay awaiting to be molded; and she is the vessel that takes the viewer through the plotline. Her identity, or lack of, is evident through the mise en scene of her room. The pastel pinks and beiges adorning her walls paired with the teddy bears on her bed and the orderly, conservative way her bed is made is so blatantly juvenile. Isabelle is a cinephile, she sees the images on screen and longs to become those images, yet in her room there is no evidence of her cinephilia. There are medical instruments, ice skates, and everything is so clean. Towards the beginning of the film, Isabelle addresses Matthew's cleanliness, to which she implies that those who love cinema are less likely to be clean. Yet Isabelle's room is the cleanest in the home. The medical instruments are evidence that Isabelle is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Cocktail Waitress, James Spradley And Brenda Mann Essay Historically, anthropologists have focused their research on foreign cultures, often considered exotic to westerners. Yet, globalization has created a continuously shrinking world and is increasingly providing sovereignty for developing nations, which may impede research opportunities for modern anthropologists. In their book, "The Cocktail Waitress," James Spradley and Brenda Mann explained how this semi–recent issue threatens trust and acceptance in these foreign communities and obstructs unique opportunities and research funding. Luckily, there are countless subcultures in America's back yard, in which most are eternally evolving, providing a multitude of research opportunities for anthropologists. Alcohol establishments are home to a plethora of subcultures that display clashing and harmonious interactions enjoyable for even the untrained human observers. Noticeably, bars contain the local regulars, occasional boozers, business men, college students, and multiple others, all there for a common goal, leisure. Whether the responsible sober driver, moderate drinker, or completely inebriated, every patron has exchanged workday courtesies for uninhibited behaviors. Wines like Cabernet Sauvignon take on the rich taste of the oak barrels in which they're stored. Champagnes bring us the taste of the champagne region of France. And that doesn't even begin to cover the great local wines you can use as your cocktail's base. If you're planning a party and need some recipes for wine cocktails, I've got you covered. The following recipes count as some of my go–to recipes when it's time to get the party started. Simple Champagne Cocktail Here's some trivia for you. What's the difference between Champagne and sparkling wine? If you said that Champagne comes from Champagne, France, you'd be right. The sparkling wine that we know of as Champagne is called that because it's named after the region where it's made. If the drink is not made in Champagne, then it's just sparkling wine. Got it? Good. If you're fortunate enough to have Champagne – that's a real celebration, right? – then use that as your base. Otherwise, sparkling wine will do. Here's how you make this simple sparkling wine cocktail. Ingredients: 5 oz. Champagne or sparkling wine 1 sugar cube A dash of bitters Champagne flute Instructions: Drop the sugar cube into the glass. Add drops of bitters to the sugar cube. Before going to see it and writing this paper, I decided to do some research on both of the plays to see if I could get a better understanding of them. As a result, I decided on Casa Valentina because it was about a topic that I was unfamiliar with. The play is set in the early 1960s when men would go to the Catskill Mountains and escape. But escape what? In this play, they would escape being men. Seeing the photographic oddness of men being dressed in little neat dresses has always been a source of comedy and a favorite in theatre. This play is no different. The play was also a huge success, being nominated for multiple awards, including four Tony's and winning other awards. With this in mind, I thought I was ready to view the play. What theplaywright was trying to say about life is that everyone is different. It raised universal questions of who am I? What is my identity? To what are the differences ingender identity and sexual orientation? It truly posed some fascinating questions about these identities. It even provoked the question of what ensues in matrimony when one of the partners begins to represent both genders. What happens? Is one simply cut off? Is there room for them both? It brings out the central conflict of illusion versus reality in my eyes. This is because these are grown adult men, married with a spouse of the opposite sex. Yet in spite of all this, ... They provided a ready market for any surplus grain that was raised. The business was considered respectable; and members of churches, and even deacons engaged in it without any detriment to their moral character or standing in society. More specific elements of America's drinking culture are examined within the intellectual history paradigm, yet the discussion is mostly of historical contributions. On a personal level, alcohol has cultivated bonds of friendship and community based on the similarity of livelihoods, national heritages, and neighborhoods. • 29. Analysis Of Mothers Day 1996 Dale Kennington's unique artwork presents a realist view which encourages the viewers to examine her art that illustrates "everyday" occurrences in a new and distinct way. In her oil on canvas piece, Mothers' Day, 1996, Kennington displays numerous young girls clothed in extravagant, decorative dresses in a nondescript waiting room; many accompanied by what seems to be their mothers. Each dress is depicted with vivid, saturated color for implied emphasis. The adult women, assumed mothers by the title of the piece, are primping their daughters for what seems to be a pageant show of some sort by the identification number visible on the dress of one girl. Light and bouncy curls accentuate the young girls' faces as they prepare for the show. Light from an unseen overhead light creates a spotlight on most of the girls, casting shadows across the room's floor. In this scene, the mothers seem to be actively preparing their daughters whereas most of the girls appear to be unbothered and patiently waiting for what is to come next. This piece is quite large, 10 by 6 feet, which allows for the audience to feel as if they were standing in the painting; this emphasizes the realism of the piece. Kennington's use of realism allows for this scene to be represented candidly, and without artificiality and she achieves this by using formal components that challenge the audience to rethink their predetermined notions of any particular event, such as this one. By using elements of design, Kennington brings us into the world of her artistry. From first glance, the audience's view is directly drawn to a young girl in a green dress with her mother adjusting her identification badge to her outfit as well as another young girl in blue being fixed up by her mother. These will be Kennington's focal points. Just as important, the girls in the back are either sitting or waiting around with their mothers for their upcoming event. Kennington uses relative placement here to invite the audience the look from the foreground (where the two girls and their mothers are standing), to the middle ground (where some young contestants are sitting down and others standing up), and continue on examining the girls in the far back, seemingly dressed the ... Well, judging by how much we laugh at their goofy clothes and ridiculous shoes, not to mention the hilarious hairstyles, styles have changed a lot. We?ve gone from high waists to low waists, baggy shirts to shirts that could fit your little sister, from bellbottoms to skin–tight jeans, and from voluminous hair to straight and silky locks. Yes, style can change a lot in a few decades and if you think that's a lot of change, try going back a few centuries, to the times of Shakespeare! Then, make–up was pale, and extremely white. Women wore hats and carried parasols to escape from the light, to stay as white as possible. Those with darker, tanned skin were generally workers, so it was important for the upper class to distinguish themselves from the peasants. Men also used this white paste to identify themselves from the peasants. Who knew that Queen Elizabeth set the standards for make–up in those days? Her case of smallpox, which left some blemishes, was easily covered by the heavy white make–up. This explains the absurdly pale skin in her many portraits. Cheeks and lips were ideally red. Kohl was used to darken the eyelashes. Light hair was also considered beautiful. Hair styles were also very elaborate. Can you imagine sitting in a chair for 4 days with 20 hairdressers? • 31. Women 's Dress And Dress Introduction France in the 18th witnessed a huge modification in the aesthetic standard in dress for women, whether in terms of material, style and appearance (Rothstein, 1999: 2). French fashion had successively experienced several distinctive stages. For instance, Rococo (luxury court–style showing femininity, slimness and mannerism) was in stark contrast to the Baroque (characteristic with dignity and elegance). However, since the 1870s, the Enlightenment and the French Evolution had exerted a profound effect on the women's dress in France. In this way, this essay intends to review the development of women's dress and draw a contrast with the English dress within the same era. Critical Review of Sources Generally speaking, French fashion was in ascendency throughout the Europe, which received extensive attention about all respects concerning French women's dress and French fashion. The robe volante in the 1730s well displayed the overall loose shape, which, however, failed to represent the most distinctive feature of the huge flounce as well as pleats on the back. Moreover, the understructure was also not clearly shown and introduced. The Mantua in 1708 well displayed the design, materials, colours and patterns, which corresponded to the dress at that time. However, the colourful silk and well as other design details made it seem more likely to be the characteristics of the Rococo. The Robe a la francaise in from 1775–1800 showed the changes in women's dress ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
