2. + because my main product will
be a documentary, I went
researching for types of
documentaries that I could use
as guidelines for my own and
here are two examples of
documentaries that I will
analyze.
3. + Skint
this a program that appears on channel 4 also and it is about Intimate
stories of how people live with the devastating effects of long-term
unemployment and the cameras follow them around seeing how they deal
with their financial situation.
from seeing the first episode of season one of this program, it is interesting
how they put it together. a lot of the program is letting the protagonist share
their thoughts and feelings along with some interviews with minimal use of
narration. what i do like about what they have done with the program would
be having a shot of the protagonist talking and cutting away to them in
action with the audio of them still talking with the audio of the action still
herd. this is something that i definitely will be using i my own documentary.
4. + Benefit Street
This is a program that comes on channel 4. Benefits Street reveals the
reality of life on benefits, as the residents of streets in areas hit hard by
recession invite cameras into their tight-knit communities.
The way how this program was presented seemed, my opinion, harsh with a
hint of comedic behaviour which didn’t really suite the issues of what the
program is about (how life is like living on the benefits system along side the
other problems they have to face n a daily basis). the use of natural
recordings with no/ little use of a script to keep it as real as possible. the use
of the narrators voice over events to explain the the audience what is
happening and why the characters feel the way they do is something that i
will most likely something i will use in my own documentary.
