2. Camera shots
Close ups are used through out the documentary to show
the facial expressions of the active talker, this has the
effect on the viewer that shows the seriousness of the
matter making more interesting to be watching and
gaining information on.
Establishing shots are used at times to overview the area
that the person was from or where the crimes took place
giving the viewer a insight to what actually happened.
High angle shots were used often when showing remakes
of what the criminal was like, when watching this it gave
you a fly on the wall impression but also gave of the
impression that you were looking down upon the person
because of their crimes
3. Edits
Short takes are used to give pick up the pace of the
documentary and to help have the effect on the
viewer that makes the documentary gripping to them
keeping them on the edge of their seat.
Focus pull was used through out the documentary to
change the focus of someone speaking to another
subject such as a object etc.
Basic cuts are used to go from scene to scene as the
documentary is not the sort where the transition will
wow the viewers, the information being fed into the
audience is used for that.
4. Mise-En-Scene
The Costume of the person presenting the
documentary is very smart suit wear, this is used
firstly because of the serious matters that are being
talked about and secondly because of the high up job
he has with in the law.
The Location that the documentary is set at is a
office in which they research the serial killers and
their crimes this gives the audience the view that
they are really involved and being told everything
there is to be told about these serial killers making
the documentary more interesting.
5. Sound
Music is used during the Documentary to give it a
sinister tone and have a effect on the matter of what is
being talked about which is some of the most brutal
serial killers in the world
A Voice over is used during the documentary to give a
intro and a outro to it, and to also explain some of the
scenes and pictures shown during the documentary.
Sound effects are sued at times give a cutting edge or
more of a jumpy effect on some of the crime committed
making them become a lot more iry to the viewer.
6. Likes and dislikes
Likes- the information given during the documentary
was interested enough to keep me hooked in and
willing to carry on watching, the remakes also made
it very interesting as it gave u a realistic perspective
of what the killer was like.
Dislikes- some times the effects used were a bit far
fetched but at times the documentary came quite
continuous with no transitions to break it up which
some people may of found boring.
