1. this is my script that i have created for the voice over of my
documentary. the script includes quotes from two articles
based around children growing u in single parent families as
well as my own take on the subject. this is the script:
Script
Single parents, often seen as the unfortunate part of society
for a child to have only one parent. Most people think that
this is a bad thing for a child to only have one parent, as the
child doesn’t have the balance that two parents can provide.
In the article from the telegraph it is stated that “Children
raised by single mothers are twice as likely to
misbehave as those born into traditional two-parent
families” the article continues to discuss about how single
parent families (mainly matriarch families) are more likely
to “have less economic security, less attention and
guidance and more likely to live in deprived areas.” They
also go on to say that “Behavioral problems were less
likely among children living in families with higher
levels of parental qualifications” in other words single
parents aren’t qualified to look after their child, But is that
necessarily true?
** What do you think society thinks of you as a single
parent? **
Video response question
Although society sees single mothers as an “incapable
parent” there is also the idea that a child growing up with
only their mother is maybe even better than in a family.
According to the daily mail, “Children who live with a
single parent are ‘no less happy than those who live with
mum and dad Children who live with a single parent are
just as happy as those living with a mother and father,
new research has found.”
2. **Cut to protagonist answering question**
“A study of more than 12,000 seven-year-olds found that
the quality of the relationship was more important than
the composition of the family.”
“The results will question the widely held belief that it is
better for parents to stay together ‘for the sake of the
children’ than breaking up.” So although people believe
that a single parent is something that needs to be looked
down upon, it is more of a happy environment for the child,
as the family relationship is more important to the child
than the family composition or the type of family
**Cut to protagonist answering question**
It is believed that the “family type had no significant effect
on the happiness of the seven-year-olds or the 11 to 15-
year-olds.”
“It’s the quality of the relationships in the home that
matters – not the family composition.”
No matter how the family is made up, weather is tow
parents or one, raising a child will always be the same.
