Micro Teaching

OBJECTIVES
After having gone through this video you should be able to :-
•State the definitions of micro teaching.
•Explain objectives of microteaching.
•Point out the steps of micro teaching.
•Explain the process of micro teaching.
•Behavior modification
•Point Out the merits and demerits of micro teaching.
 It is learning process of teaching and tool to
help the teacher trainee to develop skills
under laboratory conditions .
 Micro teaching is a training technique which
is called “micro” since a teacher trainee
practices with a small group of 5 to 10 pupils
for a short duration of 5 to 10 minutes on a
selected concept of a lesson and concentrates
on a single skills which is magnified.
 Allen,D.W.(1966): “ Micro teaching is a scale
down teaching encounter in class size and
class time”.
 Mc.Knight (1971): “Micro teaching is a scale
down teaching encounter designed to
develop new skills and refine old ones”
 LA Due: “Micro teaching is an opportunity to
gain classroom capabilities and expertise
before the student teacher starts entering the
teaching situation”
Definitions
Micro teaching enables the trainee:-
To assimilate and learn new skills under
controlled conditionsamong the student
teachers.
To develop confidence in teaching.
To acquire masteryin a number of skills.
To attain perfection in teaching.
To modify teaching behaviours in the required
manner.
To provide required feedback.
