• Dwells inside the Mayon Volcano
• Guardian of the Sacred Fire

Origin: Albay
Characteristics:
•Evil God
•Brother of Gugurang
•Dwells inside Mt. Malinao
•Wants to be as powerful as Gugurang

12. Significance
•Bicolanos already had the idea of faith and religion
even before colonizers introduced their religion.
•The awareness of the folks of the existence of good
and evil was depicted in the story.

13. Daragang Magayon
Origin: Rawis, Albay
Characteristics:
•Beautiful Maiden
•Daughter of Datu Makusog
•Lover of Ulap

•Daragang Magayon was believed to be buried in the place
where the Mayon Volcano is located
•Story was developed to justify the existence of Mayon
Volcano
Symbolism

perfection of Mayon Volcano

•Monster

•Has big mouth and phallus
•Lives in the forest
