2. Of the 1.5 billion children aged 7 to 13 in Bolivia, about
116,000 are working. In Bolivia there are 729,000
adolescents between the ages of 14 and 17. More than a
quarter of them (27%) work. In the rural area there are
more teenagers working than in the cities, compared to
24% who live and work in urban areas
The new Political Constitution take into account prohibit
forced labor, as well as child exploitation. But prohibition
of child labor is not taking effect. Thus, the law seeks to
decriminalize less hazardous work activities and ensure
that they respect the labor rights of minors
