• How all of us know, in Spain all the people go to
the principal square of each village or city,
specially in the capital, Madrid, where there is a
very big clock. When the clock bells first strike, all
the Spanish people eat twelve grapes, which are
considered of good luck. This tradition was
originated in 1909, when a business of this fruit
promoted grapes because an overproduction of it.
3. United States
• In the end of year there are a lot festivals in the cities, and in some
there are pyrotechnic shows. The most important festival is in Times
Square where people look the ball go down at twelve o’clock at night
• The first day is celebrated with parades in cities. The most famous is
parade of the roses in California

• In Scheveningen, a big town of Netherlands, holds a
swimming festival. At first of January, 10.000 people go to
the beach to plunge in the sea. This tradition moved to other

participate in de First Sleigh Riding, they must to be the first
person who cross the threshold of a friend, and give him
presents like food or whisky, which are symbolic gifts whose
significance is to give good luck to the friend.
