5. STEPS CONTENTS
1Presentation

The mediators will begin with personal introductions and the
rules of the mediation process.
2. “Tell me” Each student will explain, in turns, their version of the
conflict and their feelings.
3. Clarifying
the problem
The mediators will try to identify the conflict, analysing every
part of the argument, from both points of view. The point is to
find a “agreed version” of the conflict.
4. Proposing
solutions
Through a brainstorming session, the mediators will help
both students find possible ways to reach an agreement.
5. Reaching
an agreement
After assessing the different proposals, and taking into
account their advantages and difficulties, the mediators will
try to help both students reach a final agreement, which has
to be: balanced, realistic, specific and clear. A Final
Agreement will be written according to the existing models. It
has to be signed by both the students involved in the conflict
and the mediator.
