  1. 1. Distance Education Policy Mission, Vision & Principles
  2. 2. Mission Statement• The mission of ECAE is to prepare high quality teachers and educational leaders for the Abu Dhabi Emirate and across the UAE through research based, responsive professional training
  3. 3. Vision Statement• The vision of ECAE is to be an institute of distinction for teacher education in the Emirates within three years, across the Middle East within five years and globally 8-10 years.
  4. 4. Purpose• To provide high quality professional development opportunities and training to public school teachers and administrators working in clusters located outside of the Abu Dhabi Metropolitan area.
  5. 5. Guiding Principles• In order to maintain that high academic and professional standards demanded by ECAE’s mission and vision, distance education courses and programs offered by ECAE will be developed in accordance with 6 Guiding Principles.
  6. 6. Guiding Principle 1• Distance education courses must maintain the same high level of quality as any of its traditional face-t-face counterparts.
  7. 7. Guiding Principle 2• Distance education students must have the same level of support services such as advising, tutoring, access to libraries and technical assistance as do students in traditional face-to-face courses.
  8. 8. Guiding Principle 3• Distance education students must achieve similar levels of success in online courses as do students in traditional face-to-face courses.
  9. 9. Guiding Principle 4• Distance education students must have equal opportunities to Interact with each other, with faculty and with course content as do students in traditional face-to-face courses.
  10. 10. Guiding Principle 5• Distance education students must have the same rights to privacy, confidentiality, prompt feedback, fair assessment and addressing of grievances as do students in traditional face- to-face courses.
  11. 11. Guiding Principle 6• Both students and instructors in distance education courses must have all of the technical skills and access to appropriate technology that is required to work effectively within their courses.
