Creating a brighter future for life in the tropics world-wide through graduates and discoveries that make a difference.
JCU Singapore is fully owned by James Cook
University Australia. The university is ranked
in the top 4%* of universities in the world. It
established JCU Singapore in 2003 as part of
its expressed intent of internationalising its
activities and offers a suite of university level
programs at the Singapore campus including
Business, IT, Psychology and Education.
Additionally, JCU Singapore offers courses at the pre-university level,
specifically designed to provide pathways for students who are unable
to immediately meet university entrance standards.
JCU Singapore campuses are located at Upper Thomson and at Ang Mo
Kio. Both provide students with access to a full range of facilities and
services to support their learning. These include lecture and seminar
rooms, library and associated study facilities, computer laboratories,
and access to a variety of sporting facilities. In order to ensure that
students have ready access to LearnJCU, our technology based learning
management system, all students are provided with an iPad** when
they commence their course.
JCU Inter-campus Mobility Program
JCU Singapore provides the opportunity for students to study in
Singapore and in Australia and yet still remain as Singapore based
students paying their fees in Singapore currency. This is a unique
program in Asia and is only able to operate because the university
operates across both countries. The program is designed to ensure the
students get the best possible outcomes from their years of study with
the university.

JCU Singapore
Established in 2003
Our pathway programs are designed to make
university education accessible and achievable for a
wide range of students in the region through special
entrance schemes.
Note: International students in Singapore on a Student Pass are not permitted to work. For more information please visit www.ica.gov.sg
JCU Singapore is EduTrust Certified. The EduTrust certification scheme is administered by the Council for Private Education (CPE) a statutory board formed in 2009. EduTrust requires all
students to be covered under a Fee Protection Scheme. In JCU Singapore, this is provided through an insurance protection scheme. Further, EduTrust also requires that the students must
be covered under a medical insurance coverage which has provision for hospitalisation, surgery and treatment costs throughout their course duration. JCU Singapore will advise in the
Standard Student Contract the total amount of insurance payable.

English Language
Preparatory Program
At JCU Singapore, we offer an English Language
preparation program to students who need help with
their English. This program has been specifically designed
to enable students to develop their language skills for
university study, and also their critical and independent
learning abilities.
In terms of language skills, the core texts have an academic
skills focus, and these are supplemented by a number of
additional activities focused on particular skills. For example,
in all levels students must carry out presentations on a regular
basis, ending up with an independent academic presentation
on Level 3.
The students’ ability to learn independently is developed over
the program, with students being asked to complete larger
pieces of coursework as they move through the program. On
Level 3 the students spend ten weeks working on a 1,500 word
academic essay, receiving support through individual tutorials.
Critical thinking is also encouraged, with students being
required to form opinions on a range of subjects and express
these arguments in both written and spoken form.
This program helps students
in the following ways:
• Prepares students for full degree programs at JCU Singapore
• Enhances students’ abilities in reading, writing, speaking and
listening in English
• Equips students to present information, concepts and ideas on
a variety of topics
• Enables students to express feelings and emotions, exchange
opinions and make observations in English
• Improves students’ writing and research skills
Duration: Students will undergo 12 teaching weeks + 2 weeks
assessment for each level
Intakes (Level 1 - 3): February, April, June, August, October & December
Intakes (Introductory Level): February, June, October
Tuition Fees: S$3,210 per level
Note: All course fees include prevailing 7% Goods and Services Tax (GST)
Students will pay the tuition fees in equal instalments. The details of the breakdown will
be provided in your Student Contract. Please contact us for further details.

This program has been specifically designed to enable students to develop their language skills for university study, and also their critical and independent learning abilities. In terms of language skills, the core texts have an academic skills focus, and these are supplemented by a number of additional activities focused on particular skills.
