2. Key Points
Less than 25% of parents plan to send their
children to a new school at any of the 3 proposed
sites
This means a loss of at least $1 million/yr in PPG
90% of those surveyed will send their children to
KCVI if it is renovated in current location
3. Key Points
Walkability, sense of community and downtown
location are highly valued
The downtown community has 5 feeder elementary
schools with healthy enrolments and serves 3 of the
region’s largest employers
None of the Board’s three options reflect these values.
It’s time for Plan B

10. What does this mean financially?
Just based on the 200+ respondents to our
surveys, a new high school built on any of
the 3 proposed sites will lose AT LEAST
$1,000,000/year in per pupil grant.
11. We tell our children actions have consequences.
Is this how we want to teach them that lesson?
Ask Peterborough….
Downtown school PCVS closed
Students moved to suburban,
newly renovated TASS 5km away
Of 756 PCVS students, only 409
moved to TASS
12. Peterborough 2 years later
Public school enrolment down 11.33%
Catholic board only down 4.87%
TASS enrolment declining at higher rate
(9%) than other public high schools (0-
8%) and St Peters (4%)
