1. Bending Moment Analysis of the Rear Muffler entry pipe for Audi AU536 SQ8 Exhaust
system.
This analysis is to determine the strength of the inlet pipe of the rear muffler. Here 30 Nm of
Bending Moment has been applied to the inlet weld section of the rear muffler. Then simulated and
the stress concentration locations and displacement of the pipe have been observed. The
BM-Stress ratio is kept 1:1 as per VW standard to determine the failure limit. Design changes
suggestion in case of failure.

Tools used: Hypermesh, NASTRAN, Medina
Role Played: Generated FE model, applied BC, Simulation and post processing, Suggesting Design
changes.
2. Operational Vibration Analysis of Daimler BR213 M177 exhaust system and correlation
with test.
This analysis is carried out to determine the stresses and moments occurring at various locations of
the complete exhaust system due to engine vibration during operation. Here the natural frequency
modes are extracted and engine loads are given as excitation. The vibration modes are correlated
with the test data and the cutting section moments and stresses are observed for various frequency
modes and reported. Design suggestions are given in case of failure in the system.

3. Modal Analysis of Audi Q7 V6 TDI exhaust system.
This analysis is performed to determine the natural frequency mode shapes for the entire exhaust
system. Here the Boundary conditions are given as SPC loads for bracket mounting areas and the
temperature for the exhaust system. S103 is carried out in NASTRAN solver and the natural
frequencies are extracted and critical frequency modes are reported.
